New colleague staring at my cleavage- is this my fault ?

I sometimes wear tops that show some cleavage. It’s hard to avoid in most tops that aren’t super high cut.

I notice men sometimes look. But today in a meeting, a man did not stop staring.

his gaze was fixed the entire time he was talking to me. It was extremely uncomfortable.

I somehow feel it’s my fault this happened. But I really love this top and I don’t think it’s obscene. I find it hard to avoid showing some cleavage, especially in summer. It just suits my shape somehow.

I’ll post a pic of the top if it will let me.

Wildly inappropriate.

He was also rude, but come on. Why are you wearing that in an office.

cherrytree12345 · 26/06/2025 19:59

Lovely for evening wear, but definitely too low cut for work IMO

cantthinkofausername26 · 26/06/2025 20:00

I think the shape of some women’s boobs make cleavage unavoidable unless you wear high neck stuff, and then that seems to accentuate the size! Why should women worry what they wear because some men can control themselves and not be rude? It’s pathetic. I’d have to say something, rude prick!

StrangerOnline · 26/06/2025 20:00

I’m a similar size and shape to you and so I understand the difficulty of getting flattering clothes for our curves.
I think that’s a lovely top, and you look gorgeous in it… for a night out.
But - totally inappropriate for a work environment. This needs a cami-top underneath it, far too low to be professional.
Most red-blooded males would find it hard to resist looking. As they say: if you’ve got it, flaunt it. But you can’t then complain when it attracts attention!

Lins77 · 26/06/2025 20:00

I was recently in a meeting with someone wearing a very low cut vest top - she wasn't a small person and it did look very inappropriate!

dtarer · 26/06/2025 20:01

That’s not me in the pic guys! My boos are not as big as that at all.

why is the top unsuitable ? Is it too low cut ?

Yes to low cut for work. It’s more of an evening or dinner out kinda top. Definitely not suitable for work.

Profhilodisaster · 26/06/2025 20:01

i bought myself camisole as i hate showing my cleavage, a new dress kept showing my cleavage so i did a last minute change of dress before i left for work today.
i am not sure if people intend to look but sometimes people can't help themselves, i was at an interview and i couldnt stop looking at a woman's cleavage, very off putting. i am not attracted to cleavages but somehow they attract the eye

Cleavages do not attract the eye, I assume you have full control of where you look.

Dillydollydingdong · 26/06/2025 20:02

I've been actively looking for a low cut top and found it impossible to find. You must have been looking hard! But yes, that's not appropriate for work. Cover it up girl, and he won't want to look!!!

Newblackdress · 26/06/2025 20:03

dtarer · 26/06/2025 19:49

Is that inappropriate for work?

It's a sexy top. Perhaps not the best choice for work. But that doesn't excuse the man staring at you.

Pebbles16 · 26/06/2025 20:03

dtarer · 26/06/2025 19:50

Yeah I have cleavage in many tops.

To avoid any hint of cleavage I could have to wear a polo, turtle or high rounded neck (which all look hideous), BUT, they emphasise the enormous boob shelf and get me a whole other load of looks and conversations "at my chest".
I tend to wear low cut tops with a vest but fuck me if I will do that in this weather. So there will be cleavage, with or without the vests.
In 40 years of adult hood with larger breasts, men will always talk to them, stare at them etc. It's extraordinarily annoying. I have learnt to ignore them.

HopscotchBanana · 26/06/2025 20:03

You're wearing a low cut top exposing a lot of cleavage. I would probably look like I was staring, because it's exactly what draws attention, and you perfectly well know that.

It's like me dying my hair vivid pink then doing pikachu-shocked-face at the concept it might draw people's attention.

Fiver555 · 26/06/2025 20:03

EleanorReally · 26/06/2025 19:41

i dont think cleavages are suitable at work

Nor do I. However, I also think that people should be able to avoid staring when they do see a cleavage.

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 26/06/2025 20:03

Profhilodisaster · 26/06/2025 20:01

Cleavages do not attract the eye, I assume you have full control of where you look.

You're kidding? They're visually appealing, that's kind of the point of them.

dtarer · 26/06/2025 20:03

I think I may have to take a pic of me in that top, it doesn’t look like that.

Absolutely unsuitable for work. Cover yourself up.

MooreMooreMoore · 26/06/2025 20:04

dtarer · 26/06/2025 19:49

Is that inappropriate for work?

Yes, that’s a going out top!
Not excusing the gawping colleague

Dangermoo · 26/06/2025 20:05

That top needs a brooch.

Pebbles16 · 26/06/2025 20:05

ZenNudist · 26/06/2025 19:58

Top perfectly acceptable for work if your job is busty bar maid or cabaret singer.

Back in the professional world, women dress modestly in high necks, and crew necks.

Yes he should not stare at your tits but there's zero reason to show cleavage at work.

@ZenNudist I will not compromise my comfort or style on male inadequacies

Hankunamatata · 26/06/2025 20:05

dtarer · 26/06/2025 19:49

Is that inappropriate for work?

Totally inappropriate for work

Dangermoo · 26/06/2025 20:05

dtarer · 26/06/2025 20:03

I think I may have to take a pic of me in that top, it doesn’t look like that.

Don't do that.

Branleuse · 26/06/2025 20:05

Its a smart evening top id say.
I have big boobs, and i think it's fine to have a small amount of cleavage at work, but that particular style would be too much for work.

It doesn't excuse his rude staring of course.
Does he still stare if you wore a tshirt ?

SilviaSnuffleBum · 26/06/2025 20:07

dtarer · 26/06/2025 19:49

Is that inappropriate for work?

This has got to be a wind up: of course that isn't appropriate for work!

MayaPinion · 26/06/2025 20:07

No, that’s definitely not a work outfit! I’d be staring at your tits and I’m straight 😂

Cucy · 26/06/2025 20:08

I have big boobs and I know if I wear a low cut too at work then I need to wear a layer underneath it’s so my cleavage doesn’t show.

Of course he shouldn’t stare at your cleavage but I am a straight female and I would struggle not to look.

It’s like if someone wore a belly top or short skirt.
You would look at their tummy or legs (of course you’d try and not stare).

But this is obviously fake.
