To think the US was right to bomb Iran? What am I missing?

I am no fan of Trump. I’m very much left wing.

But am I missing something here? Why has everyone become such huge supporters of Iran? The world is a safer place as a result of removing their capability to develop nuclear weapons? Why is everyone carrying on like Iran is a victim and they were truly just trying to implement peaceful nuclear capabilities? Has everyone lost the plot?

You’re not missing anything, it was the right thing to do. You don’t need to search for morality or hate anyone, but some people and countries are enemies, with completely opposing interests

You’re blaming Israel for a terrorist attack committed by Hamas? Absolutely disgusting. Israel has got one of, if not the, best defence system for their civilians in the world, because they invest their money in protecting their country. And you blame them for the Palestinians they allowed to live and work in Israel gathering data to give to Hamas so they could rape and murder Israeli civilians, and that’s Israel’s fault?

And Israel is currently under attack from Iranian rockets as a direct result of the rockets fired by the Israeli government.

Do these attacks not affect men?

Specifically what about any of that is a sales pitch for life in Israel & under the current Israeli government for women?

So attacks from hostile neighbours means you wouldn’t want to be a woman in Israel? How do these things not affect men?

You’ve absolutely crossed a line with your reply, and as such, this will be my last reply. Because I did not blame Israel for the terror attacks. You’re jumping to the conclusions you want to extract here. I asked ‘how’ the Israeli government protected women from that risk on that day. The role of governments is to use intelligence to protect citizens. That is not blaming, that is stating gaps which make the country unappealing. Clearly, there was an intelligence gap. That’s a statement of fact.

Another thing I didn’t say, was that men aren’t impacted by the attacks. But you’ve flipped the narrative here so I’m not engaging in conversation with you further. It’s clear where your next reply will go, and I’m absolutely not even entertaining that. Have a great rest of your evening, and stay safe - wherever you’re living.

A few reasons, but mainly I saw the images from the atrocities committed on October 7th, of the women raped in the horrendous attack. How specifically did the Israeli government protect women on that day?

This is blaming Israel. I’m pleased you’ve realised how appalling this is that you’re trying to backtrack.

You said I must be a man, because no women would want to be in Israel (or the US). I can see why with the US.

But why must I be a man for preferring to live in Israel than Iran? Nothing you’ve said impacts women more than men. So why? What is bad about being a woman in Israel?

ArtTheClown · 22/06/2025 22:07

It's also an admission of just how dangerous Hamas is to Israeli civilians. So close to joining the dots...

LovingLimePeer · 22/06/2025 22:08

US actions in Iran may not be justified but I think may be helpful to dissuade further Chinese/Russian knobheadery. The fact is we need America to be an irrational bully. Their unpredictability/power keeps the rest of the world in check.

HeisenbergMum · 22/06/2025 22:11

Yes I think it's very dangerous when countries can just break international law and attack other countries because of something they might do.

If Iran didn't have nuclear weapons before this they will definitely scramble like hell to get their hands on them now.

Israel and trump and their cronies that support them blindly (like starmer) are making this world a more dangerous place to live in.

ArtTheClown · 22/06/2025 22:17

Yes I think it's very dangerous when countries can just break international law and attack other countries because of something they might do.

It was hardly just "something they might do". They've been actively enriching uranium, which has one purpose only. Then there's the whole "Death to American, death to the West" schtick, which doesn't really bode well for when they get that uranium to the required 90%.

Anyway that's all been set back decades. Bizarre just how sad so many frankly suicidal Westerners seem to be about that.

Why do you think it's ok for the US and the UK, aggressive war mongering states to have nukes? For rogue state Israel to have nukes?

Maybe read a little about why countries in the middle east wish death to the West......

How many is too many for them, for their own government? At which point do you down weapons and surrender?

Should we have downed weapons and surrendered to Hitler?

TulipLavender · 22/06/2025 22:23

If anyone genuinely wants to learn more about whether the US attack on Iran was in anyone's actual interest, this is a very interesting analysis by Scott litter (former un weapons inspector) https://www.youtube.com/live/3P7F2YARMaY?si=L-snAXpEgucAkAJC

Basically fuming up that it was futile as they would have moved the enriched uranium from those sites anyway. Obviously he far more aptly evidences his conclusions.

I think it’s okay because it keeps us safe.

How is Israel a rogue state?

ArtTheClown · 22/06/2025 22:25

It's this curious, almost racist habit that the left seem to have now, to assume that the West is all-powerful and people in other regions have no agency or personal responsibility, and are helpless not to be terrorist nutters.

Total racism of low expectations, with a hefty dose of white guilt and self-hatred.

What rights are women denied in Israel?

Let's include Palestinian women in the whole area Israel controls and has occupied for decades - the right to free movement, food, water, to not being detained without a trial, to safety, to hospital access etc.

Let’s not. Palestinian women are not Israeli citizens.

It is infinity preferable to be in Israel than Iran. Women in Israel enjoy democracy, freedom, and rights.

So only some women count to you within the borders that Israel controls (illegally).

I knew there would be at least one. There's always a Hitler analogy in threads that involve Israel and Palestine.

The anti west sentiment on SM is on here too, it’s all bizarre.

Was Hamas not elected by the people of Palestine? When did Israel take control? Surprised it hasn’t been on the news.

It is so bizarre. They hate their country, their freedom and protections and rights. They’re drawn to despots, dictators, authoritarian regimes. Why??
