To think the US was right to bomb Iran? What am I missing?

I am no fan of Trump. I’m very much left wing.

But am I missing something here? Why has everyone become such huge supporters of Iran? The world is a safer place as a result of removing their capability to develop nuclear weapons? Why is everyone carrying on like Iran is a victim and they were truly just trying to implement peaceful nuclear capabilities? Has everyone lost the plot?

Israel holds elections, and allows other religions to live and work there in peace, and be part of the government. Very despotic. How are the elections in Iran? Can you point to the diversity in thought, culture or race in the beautiful, free country of Iran (or Gaza, funnily enough)?

It just doesn't allow people in Gaza to live and work in peace in their own country.

Weaponizing anti semitism to shut down legitimate conversation is so detrimental to all Jewish people who have and are still suffering from anti semitic actions.

I don’t believe that you can’t see the antisemitism positively oozing out of many of these posts.

We have supporters of the regime living in this country. These are people who support women being beaten and murdered because they don't wear the hijab.

What a truly ridiculous post this is. If you by people mean posters here, this post should really be reported and removed it’s disgusting.

Why?

i am pleased you are disgusted by the idea that people aren’t bothered by Jewish deaths.

sadly lots of the people chanting in the streets for Israel’s destruction and the stoney silence post 7/10 from all the liberal lefties who posted their black squares and all eyes on rafah would suggest that I am right to assert many view Jewish people differently.

im not sure what you’d be reporting.

It suits the current narrative of the FREE PALESTINE-ers very well to try to portray Israel as a theocracy on a par with Iran.

Iran's hideous administration have utterly ruined what was and could be a wonderful country.

Anyone who doesn't understand that Iran is run by a nihilistic death cult who genuinely crave martyrdom hasn't been paying attention.

Yet it is Israel who have just attacked them, followed by the US. The US have done so illegally without the agreement of congress btw.

@Chalk111111 (quote dropped off)

Well, there does appear to be a lot of confusion as to whether they do or do not. Tulsi Gubbard didn’t seem to think there was evidence, now she’s saying maybe. So it appears there’s a similar level of confusion from an intelligence standpoint as there was 20yrs ago.

What would I do?
I wouldn’t exit an agreement on a whim (JPCOA). And I wouldn’t drop bombs on what sounds like shakey intelligence. I’d use the lessons learnt in Iraq to ensure that history wasn’t repeated.

Edited

Fair enough, that’s what you wouldn’t do. But what would you do?

Would people criticize France or Australia for the same war crimes that Israel have committed. If they would (which I would imagine is true) then these posts are not anti semitic.

I think i did answer that question earlier. I don't think any country should have them. I think the only way to remove/reduce is through negotiation and careful monitoring. Not by recklessly bombing countries pre-emptively

And if the careful monitoring points to Iran stockpiling uranium in order to develop nuclear weapons? What then?

OnlyDespairRemains · 22/06/2025 18:54

Lastu · 22/06/2025 13:56

Are you being serious? It promotes terrorism, undermines freedom and undermines democracy.

What do you think Iran was developing nuclear weapons for?

“Promotes terrorism, undermines freedom and undermines democracy” - all accusations that could just as easily be levelled at the USA over the last 75 years.

MuckFusk · 22/06/2025 18:56

Lastu · 22/06/2025 13:54

You have got to hand it to Iran. They have successfully attracted millions of useful idiots.

Well, I had voted YANBU, only because it's actually a debatable point and not really a forgone conclusion, but you're certainly being unreasonable now, so please consider one vote changed.
You're sounding like a Trumper.

Israel hasn't vowed to obliterate another country and murder all its civilians. Israel is not run by religious nutters, it is educated, civilised and rational. It also doesnt cut off hands for petty theft, stone women to death for adultery or throw gay people off tall buildings.... so there is that...

Israel has literally vowed to destroy regimes and killed tens of thousands of civilians the last couple years.

I'd prefer Iran's posturting over that.

WestwardHo1 · 22/06/2025 18:59

Martymcfly24 · 22/06/2025 18:47

It just doesn't allow people in Gaza to live and work in peace in their own country.

Well they tried to do so in 2005 but then the good people of Gaza voted in Hamas who have been firing rockets at Israel ever since, and on October 7th visited upon Israelis the most hideous attack since the Holocaust. I'm not sure they wanted to live and work in peace. They have been offered a two state solution and have repeatedly turned it down.

I know it's more complicated than that. I know about the settlers and how truly terrible their behaviour also is.

However I don't think half the people constantly saying "But poor Gaza" and "Free Palestine" actually have much knowledge of the history of the region. I think loads of people don't even realise Iranians aren't Arabs for example.

If a country invaded Australia, murdered babies, raped women and took hostages, I very much doubt their actions in trying to get the hostages back would be called war crimes, nor the horrors of what unfolded dismissed as ‘propaganda’.

Point to anything that I have said that is remote antisemitic :S

That is a reductive tool used to dismiss valid arguments rather than address them.

So Israel should have waited until all that lovely enriched uranium was a usable nuclear weapon, pointing straight at their own country? Iran has made no secret of the fact they would do this.

"Any ceasefire deal reached would be temporary, the prime minister said. If Hamas were to say they would release more hostages, "we'll take them, and then we'll go in. But there will be no way we will stop the war," Netanyahu said. "We can make a ceasefire for a certain period of time, but we're going to the end."

May 2025

No I won't "come on"
The statements were true. The first point is merely your opinion, you don't have a crystal ball to see what would happen.

And can you also quote from Hamas’s Covenant, to destroy all Jews, not only in Israel but throughout the world? Why wouldn't Israel want to protect the global Jewish population (which still hasn’t really recovered to pre-1930s levels)? That genocide in Gaza is the only genocide in the world where the population increases year on year.

rainingsnoring · 22/06/2025 18:38

Disgraceful that @kulafey tries to suggest that Israel does not occupy and control Gaza. It's shocking how low some people will stoop with their lies.

Yes, don't you love it when people who are spouting nonsense tell others they don't know the facts. Palestinians can't even fish beyond a limit of a few kilometres without being shot by the Israeli military. Naturally, there are no fish left within the limit.
I saw one fisherman interviewed who said he was going to go beyond the limit to get shot because he couldn't live that way any longer. 😥
