To not feel very sorry for woman stuck in Turkey.

I was reading about a woman stuck in Turkey. She was there with her partner who was having teeth implants. So they got drunk and she fell against the glasss shower screen in the hotel. And it smashed. So they did a runner. Police chase. Got caught put in jail. Told they owed £15k or else. Sad face. Hmm. Though it does seem very steep for a shower screen.

Her GoFundMe says her family/friends sent her £15k but she decided to spend £2.5k on a lawyer (to try and reduce the £15k) and has since spent £7,500 on hotels and food over the last 6 weeks? Edit: she even got a tattoo with that money!

I'm finding it hard to feel sympathetic given this + her retelling of the events.

In her defence, the British embassy told her to get a lawyer and recommended him. Then the rest happened. He’s given her shit advice, she has listened to it, again, and now she’s fucked for another year.

Where are people seeing about the tattoo?!

I feel sorry for the 12yr old and the people who sent her the money only for her to fuck around and not pay.
She's already been bailed out for her shocking behaviour but didn't take advantage of it and is now stuck.. bf will hang around until the money is gone and will leave I bet.
She's clearly unwell but how do you get a Mentally ill adult to proceed properly in a different country and get her home?

More to this story than just smashing the shower screen. If that happened (even if done on purpose) you’d just tell the hotel that you fell and it smashed. They’d be scared that you’d want to sue them so wouldn’t be calling the police.

Drink and drugs must have been involved and a lot more damage to the hotel room.

I saw the family talking about it on tiktok, they said they are having to look after her kid, it's the first time she's been abroad since becoming a mum and they got bit drunk and did a few bits of damage to the room, and then got scared and ran away, the said the mafia was chasing them and extorting money from them.

They painted a picture of a poor young mum not being able to handle a drink and accidently damaged a couple of things and ran away out of fear. I don't believe a word of it.

The picture they are painting on tiktok is nonsense trying to put a spin on it for the GFM!

They are as a rough as a badger's arse....more to it than that...chancers!

Look at the pair of them...money for Turkey teef and lip fillers then pay your bills...

I am not saying it's right, but the report I read said she and he took drugs, trashed the room, and smashed the shower screen. It depends on how much damage there is; plus, if the glass screen damaged the shower and tray, it may need a whole replacement. Add into that cleaners and workmen's fees, and you would be talking about a big amount. Yet again, the British giving the British a bad reputation.😡🙄

Not to mention loss of income for the room while it is being fixed.

The line about the hotel manager being “ Turkish mafia “ made me laugh, as did the sad story that no one in the court was speaking in English - apart from the translator who was translating word for word. How very dare a Turkish court not fly in English/Turkish speaking KC to deal with a drunk woman who smashed up a hotel room and then tried to leave the country……… what do we pay our taxes for I want to know.

The GFM page says get my sister back home but is being organised by her 🤔

They didn't need an English lawyer in the middle of the night, they already had an interpreter who could interpret from a Turkish lawyer to English for them.

Not necessarily.

It makes sense to us that someone who believes the mafia are involved would just pay as that is the logical conclusion, but when you are in psychosis it doesn't work that way. Thoughts and behaviours become disorganised.

People in psychosis do not always respond to their delusions in a way that is understandable to others, or logical in the context of their delusions.

I don't know the state of her mental health obviously, but if she was in psychosis it could explain her behaviour easily.

Sounds to me they did a runner from the hotel without checking out because why else did the staff chase them? Maybe they had a large bill to pay as well?

I think people are making assumptions about the tattoo. It doesn't mention it in the DM or GFM page.

Yeah she said she 'has' psychosis, which is confusing because it's not something you have, it's not a disorder, it's something that you're 'in'.

Perhaps she is prone to going into psychosis.
Either way from the experiences I've read it would definitely be a first if someone would willingly choose to stay in a place where they believed the Turkish mafia and whole corrupt system were out to get them and torture and kill them.

I sort of feel sorry for her as she is in a pickle. But, it really is a pickle of her own making. She got drunk and smashed up a hotel room. The cleanup is not simply a shower door - it’s a trashed and smashed room with a lot of labour needed.

I think the real issue is that in the UK, we can get away with shit behaviour and a complete lack of responsibility for anything. But clearly abroad they aren’t going to put up with that shit.

I don't know enough about either of them.

The poster I quoted said that if her 'opinions' were caused by illness she would just have paid up.

I was just pointing out that people in psychosis do not always act in ways that are logical in the context of their delusions.

That was my only point.
