It's gone 10pm and the neighbours are still making noise in the garden

My alarm goes off for a 12 hour shift in 7 hours. It's Thursday night. Why are some people so unbelievably inconsiderate.

That is a good example of multitasking.

And this is why we need the laugh reaction back 😆

Don’t be silly…. A lot of people need an actual alarm, ie, one which makes noise. People who are hard of hearing obviously have no choice other than to have a vibrating one, but most of us who can hear prefer one that’s noisy.

Not being silly!!
a vibrating alarm definitely wakes people up, if it’s on your wrist!!
I use my Apple watch to wake me up because an alarm doesn’t wake me up but my watch does!!!

From the comments here it seems everyone should just please themselves and stuff anyone else. So if that’s the case, no one should mind me making noise in my garden when I’m up just after 4am or getting on with my gardening at 6 when it’s light outside and the birds are still singing. They should just suck it up because that’s my routine and the world doesn’t revolve around them. Good to know!

Such a good point , if we all made whatever noise whenever we wanted then no one gets peace or sleep. Everyone needs to be considerate of their neighbours.

If OP wasn't on MN at 10.18pm she could have gone asleep earlier🤪

Not if she was being kept awake by noise , that was the point

Why only weeknights though? What about consideration for those getting up early on weekend mornings

I agree, I think as a general rule, don’t make excessive noise . Why can’t we be more respectful like the Japanese ? I’m sure that in years gone by the UK was a lot more respectful of their neighbours right to peace & good night’s sleep . Our society has become increasingly selfish and disrespectful

The other day, the really hot one? There were three different sets of neighbours blasting music from their abodes. I suspect that if you were in any of those abodes then you’d just hear your own blaring music; but me, the lucky neighbour? All I heard was a cacophony of cunts.

Good to know, once it's 11pm I'll file a council complaint.

So what did the council say or do ?

Absolutely awful behaviour of your various neighbours , can’t get over how selfish & inconsiderate people have become. The government & local councils need to do more about this, unwanted noise is stressful and bad for our health

It is incorrect in law to say you can only complain about noise that's between 11 pm and 7 am. As I have pointed out before on this thread, there is another law that says you must not create a noise nuisance at any time of day or night. But often councils are unaware of this and you need to 'remind' or educate them. Sanctum Consultants can fill you in at a very inexpensive cost (at least, it was when I consulted them).

Happened to me too OP. I was pissed off too!

I think so many people are going through similar, being either very early noise or late into the evening. My neighbours start about 4pm and go on until about midnight….I ‘m coping by thinking that it won’t be forever and they are young and the house is hot and they are entitled to do what they want in their garden… to be fair though I’m not getting up for work and can have a day nap if necessary. This weather really does make you feel close to neighbours!!
