This is…interesting. The Persians generally hate the ayatollahs and their position has become increasingly precarious, but equally US intervention is unlikely to be welcome considering it was US intervention that installed the Pahlavis. It goes without saying that they don’t want to be bombed, but given that it is happening does present an opportunity to oust the current regime. What will matter here is how any rebuilding is handled. The next government needs to be supported by the people, not inflicted upon them.
If the regime collapses, there’s a good chance that Israel and Iran can build a strong relationship. It’s the ayatollahs that hate Israel and the Jews, not the Persians as a whole. There’s a much longer history of shared values and friendship between the two peoples than there is a history of discord, and many want to reestablish that. Israel knows this too, and as such they will handle Iran very differently to Gaza imo.
