I got married yesterday and I can't stop crying.

DH has cancer. (Diagnosed Jan 2024)
We were supposed to get married - at simple 2+2 ceremony at the end of the month but his Dr's etc encouraged us to bring the date forwards, so we got married yesterday in the hospital where my DH is being cared for.
I'm a week post major abdominal surgery.
We have 2 primary aged DC
It's our youngest DCs birthday this month.

I don't know what I want from this post but I can't stop crying.
I don't think that I know how break it to the DC that Daddy isn't going to get better and come home.
My head is swimming & I don't know what to do.

I'm not surprised you ended up drinking too much. Give yourself grace, it's been a massively tough time for you and your family.

Take any help on offer, eat well, try to rest when you can.
Consider grief counselling and anything else you think will help.

Oh OP I’m 15 years away from being in exactly the same situation when my DH died aged 35 from cancer and we had very young dc. I promise you it won’t always feel as dark as this. Sounds reasonable. Youre broken, you've been through hell and hes at peace but you aren't.

There's nothing anyone can say to help, and we all wish there was.

But your family and friends will hold onto you through this. Please be kind to yourself, you are doing so well. Your children as so lucky at how well you've tried. And were all here to listen anytime you want to tell us how you're feeling.
