To ask what you think of Meghan and Harry's "bump dance" video?

comeandhaveteawithme · 05/06/2025 11:18

To mark Lilibet's 4th birthday, they've uploaded this video. I think it's cute and fun but the usual haters are out in force.

She clearly has a monitor on under her dress but people are claiming it's a pillow, and people are also claiming it's not possible to dance like that while heavily pregnant (it totally is, if you're in good shape)

Also the horrible comments from men saying she must have got a lot of practice in, giving lap dances on yachts

Don't really know what people's problem is with these two tbh.

I think she's shared it because of all the conspiracy about her faking the pregnancies recently. It's cringey and a private moment, but I can understand bring frustrated at people saying her pregnancies were faked.

cheezncrackers · 05/06/2025 13:24

What they choose to do in private is none of my business, but sharing this cringeworthy video with the world? It's typical attention seeking behaviour, which we've come to expect from them. Why not celebrate Lilibet's birthday in a more dignified way? Meghan is really showing her classless roots IMO. She's supposed be fucking royal and she never misses an opportunity to remind us of that, but she behaves like trailer trash. Can you imagine Kate and William posting such a thing?

BoredZelda · 05/06/2025 13:24

KatieKline · 05/06/2025 11:23

It's weird, why does she think anyone wants to see. They wanted privacy, but then keep popping up, go away, you wanted privacy.

I'm not an H&M hater at all. I watched their wedding, and was actually really pleased when they got married.

They. Never. Asked. For. Privacy.

What they asked for was to be able to choose what they share. Not to have their phones hacked, or people going through their rubbish, or people printing lies about them and chasing them through the streets. Which seems entirely reasonable.

You get to pick and choose what you share on Mumsnet. Imagine if you made a post about a part of your life and that meant we were all entitled to know everything else about your life. You happy with that?

SleepQuest33 · 05/06/2025 13:25

Love it, looks like they’re having fun! Good for them.

😂 Would you be one of those people who were convinced that Covid was a government conspiracy by any chance? Did you post lengthy rants on social media about sheep and doing your own research on You Tube before having the vaccine? Because that’s remarkably similar to how you’re sounding now.

What risk does he present to the Windsors? He’s so daft the Queen would barely have trusted him to give the corgis a walk around the grounds. They certainly won’t have trusted him with any of the really dirty, dark secrets that probably do exist. And ‘they’ don’t need to throw anything at him. Every single bit of negative press his name has been attached to recently has been of his own making. How do you think ‘they’ have been causing him problems? Because the only thing I can recall is declining to provide him with police protection. And while I do sort of see his point, can you imagine the uproar if British tax payers money had been spent on providing protection for them? The couple who want no part of serving the country and don’t even want to live here?

I don’t think you’ve thought this through.

What risk does he present to the Windsors?
Every risk. He's a family member who will be privvy to a lot of information.

He’s so daft the Queen would barely have trusted him to give the corgis a walk around the grounds.
And yet trusted to fly a Helicopter in a war zone

They certainly won’t have trusted him with any of the really dirty, dark secrets that probably do exist.
And how do you know this? He's a grandson and son of two monarchs and brother of an heir. Of course he knows the inner workings.

And ‘they’ don’t need to throw anything at him. Every single bit of negative press his name has been attached to recently has been of his own making. How do you think ‘they’ have been causing him problems?
He explains all this quite clearly in his book and in several interviews. They feed negative stories to the press to keep the attention away from others and have been doing it since he was a child.

Because the only thing I can recall is declining to provide him with police protection.
Then you have absolutely not been paying attention because there have been dozens of negative stories.

And while I do sort of see his point, can you imagine the uproar if British tax payers money had been spent on providing protection for them? The couple who want no part of serving the country and don’t even want to live here?
It's not his fault one bit that he is in the public eye and everyone knows who he is. He was pushed onto the world stage as a kid, a baby even. it is absolutely owed to him to pay for his protection. I imagine there would be an uproar if the British Taxpayer was footing the bill because the press would be all over it, but I don't want to pay for security at EDL rallies either. I still have to because it's a large public event where there are going to be lots of people so secuirty to present as much as anywhere else.

I don’t think you’ve thought this through.

Have you? Have you actually? because you seem very unaware of the full picture.

Absolutely. It's weird, and makes me worry for the future of humanity, the way people just make up their minds on someone based on what the media tells them.

It’s not the media though, they control their own narrative, that’s why she wanted to get back on Instagram and silence the UK press.

Tbh though I’m not a fan but I really don’t understand why you would share that video, I wouldn’t do that in a million years, least of all if I had a royal title and was already a bit of a laughing stock.

cigarsmokingwoman · 05/06/2025 13:26

I wouldnt make a video like that public. Pregnancy and birth is private and should just be newborn pictures afterwards. No need for silly dances.

Plus her bump does look wierd!

CoffeeCantata · 05/06/2025 13:28

I found it uncomfortable to watch - second-hand embarrassment! and uncomfortable in a physical sense.

To be clear: I am not one of those who think Meghan 'faked' her pregnancies - not at all. She's clearly been pregnant twice - no issue.

But I did think her bump looked very, very odd. I know she's very slender and pregnancy shows up very obviously on slim people, but even so...

If that really is her un-augmented pregnancy bump, I'm surprised she could even stand, never mind twerk! It really turned my own stomach seeing the huge distension of her body. I wonder if she had a C-section? All kinds of gruesome thoughts have been prompted by this video, which I wish I could un-see.

jollygreenpea · 05/06/2025 13:28

I think it's a bit weird, but nice. I don't think it's something to share with the world, especially if you value your privacy.

That’s nutters.

This crap gets no traction at all on MN.

MyHeartyCoralSnail · 05/06/2025 13:30

They've got two beautiful, healthy children so anybody who says they don't exist isn't worth the time of day. Just one thing OP: what is your actual AIBU?

I feel concerned for you @comeandhaveteawithme You seem completely out of kilter with how almost 90% of people regard Harry- he was thought of as a lovable fool, to be generous, a bit of dimwit , and now he's opening his mouth far too much, creating enemies and distancing himself from his father and brother.

He left the UK for 'privacy' yet he and MM chase publicity in order to make money. If you cant see that, God help you.

The RF have not 'fed' anything to the press - and if they had, how do you know?

Harry 'fed' plenty in his book. That was written by HIM (or rather with his ghost writer .)

It's not his fault one bit that he is in the public eye and everyone knows who he is.

He can come and go to the UK at any time, discretely. There are many ways he could arrive - plane, helicopter, etc- and no one would know. He makes a song and dance about being seen- if he really wanted privacy and security it's there. He's not a working member of the RF any more, so what are you talking about?
Like any high profile person who wants to be here incognito, that's possible.

I think you need to re-think your opinion as it really is way off the mark.

I wish them well but she should get better PR advisers.

MargotTenenbaumscoat · 05/06/2025 11:22

Haven’t watched the video. No interest in that or the comments but surely it’s just a mum to be dancing while in labour which is great if that’s what they wanted to do? let her get on with it.

So why upload it. Urgh

AIBU as an employee to make sure that I defend -to a ridiculous level, leaving no stone unturned-my employers?

Meandmyguy · 05/06/2025 13:39

I don't give two shits.

I think it's weird that people put up threads about strangers they don't know.

SherlocksHome · 05/06/2025 13:41

I think she looks beautiful and is clearly a great dancer!

But in my opinion that video should be kept as a lovely private memory.

Also, I can’t get over calling her daughter Lilibet. Shockingly disrespectful to the QE2 and wildly inappropriate, imo.

RobertaFirmino · 05/06/2025 13:44

Good for them! It's important to keep moving and if you can have a bit of fun while doing so then great!

Maddy70 · 05/06/2025 13:44

It seems like a fun home video other than that I have no real opinion

Pinkrosesyellowroses · 05/06/2025 13:47

I think it’s vulgar, but each to their own. If that’s what makes them happy. The only really odd thing is that she released it to celebrate her daughter’s fourth birthday, I mean: whatever is she going to treat us to on Lilibet’s 18th?

Pipsquiggle · 05/06/2025 13:48

What I find baffling is how they seem to frame whatever they publicising in a completely self centred way

e.g. it's their DD's birthday so they share a video of them twerking, don't show a picture of their daughter (from the back so you can't see her face)

They want 'privacy' but then launch initiatives that are reliant on them being in the public eye.

They want protection (completely understandable) but piss off and refuse to work for the institutions that can give them the comprehensive security that they need.

I was really rooting for them. I wanted them to be a really successful part of the Royal Family but their messaging on most things is completely tone deaf.

Edited

Thank you, but don't be concerned for me. I'm OK with being disagreed with and to be in the minority with my thinking.

I don't believe he ever said he left the UK for "privacy". I believe he left his role as a Royal in order to protect his wife and family from the kind of press attention that ended up killing his mother. Being chased by paparazzi, is very clearly, physically very dangerous and takes it's toll on mental health. He has explained all this.
"Privacy" isn't what they asked for. They asked for control over what they choose to share, which is perfectly reasonable. Kate and William did the same thing. When they sued over some creep hiding with a long lens to take topless pictures of Kate while she was on a private Holiday, no-one said that they were hypocrites for still continuing to be in the public eye on their own terms. It's about control and consent.
The RF have, for around 100 years now, since the roles of royals started to shift, had a relationship with the press where they feed information in exchange for not publishing negative stories that are easily leaked given the money the media will pay and the amount of people the Royals have around them on a daily basis. Every time there is a bit of heat on one of them, they'll throw another to the wolves to cover for it. They've been doing this since Harry was a teenager and way before that, look at Diana, Fergie, they all said the same thing.
Harry simply tried to set the record straight in his book, and I must say, dismally failed unfortunately. The media picked part small sections of it, sensationalised it and the overlying message was lost on most people.
I am firm in my opinion and don't need to rethink it. I don't need to go along with the majority to feel validated.
And no 🙄I'm not an anti-vaxxer, a covid conspiracy theorist and I'm pretty sure men landed on the moon.
