To ask what you think of Meghan and Harry's "bump dance" video?

comeandhaveteawithme · 05/06/2025 11:18

To mark Lilibet's 4th birthday, they've uploaded this video. I think it's cute and fun but the usual haters are out in force.

She clearly has a monitor on under her dress but people are claiming it's a pillow, and people are also claiming it's not possible to dance like that while heavily pregnant (it totally is, if you're in good shape)

Also the horrible comments from men saying she must have got a lot of practice in, giving lap dances on yachts

Don't really know what people's problem is with these two tbh.

She didn’t gain it overnight, it would have been gradual and so not the same as suddenly having to carry 30kg (or 15kg).
I don’t think many people would be able carry the weight of a full term baby, amniotic fluid, placenta and everything else that become “more” (blood? muscle?) if suddenly lumped on them.
I was super active and mobile when full term - after the first trimester I felt completely normal and with no aches or pain.

I figured this was the case... but could you 'ass to grass' so to speak? I.e. squat and get up as if there was nothing there at all? She seems ridiculously mobile. Plus when she had her hands under her 'baby' bump, she was lifting it like it was a pillow, no effort at all.

Yes it's all very weird. Unfortunately I believe she didn't birth this child

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 05/06/2025 17:23

I think they’re both absolutely dreadful. Achingly insincere. Money and status obsessed whilst desperate for adoration. Honestly an embarrassment.

👏👏

Tedious, innit?

Are people not bored of regurgitating the same old stuff about this woman year after year? You have to wonder at what point this relentless tirade is going to run out of steam.

But it isn't really a Royal Family thread is it, it's a pair of desperate celebs posting a cringeworthy dance. If they don't want the scrutiny they should stop the attention seeking.

BadDinner · 05/06/2025 17:29

I think it's the first thing Meghan has done in a long long time that has made her seem relatable. I thought it was funny, and light hearted, and more like this (though not dancing necessarily) If and it's a big if...she could let her hair down more and just relax and not take everything so seriously, laugh at herself and people's criticisms and stop with the verbal spiels...she might actually win some positive feedback, especially in America.

I liked it. The biggest revelation was that she has natural rhythm! Go figure! She normally seems so 'above' things.

I don't know if it's new PR team inspired?

FoodAppropriation · 05/06/2025 17:29

dottiehens · 05/06/2025 17:20

I find it equally weird that some people are so invested in taking their side. After all nobody really knows them and their intentions. If anything the video made me feel that they have a lot of fun together so good for them. Of course some people hate them after they were so awful to the Queen in her late age. This narrative of poor Meghan went through so much. Come on she wasn’t forced to go through marriage with a prince of the one most scrutinised family on earth.

what's weirder? People disagreeing with online bullying and abuse towards a woman, she's still a person.

You can like or dislike the video, they put it into the public domain, so people are free to have an opinion. Being hateful about the individuals is another issue.

Or is it weirder to hate someone you don't know, and who hasn't actually done anything wrong? People having a strong opinion on Jimmy Saville is one thing, what's Meghan ever done? She did what was expected of her when she lived in the UK, and behaved the way she was supposed to behave.

I find the hateful and abusive comments against her absolutely shameful. Apart from standing up to Piers Morgan which started the hate campain.

I've agreed with a lot of posters on this thread, apparently the laughing emoji is gone or I'd have used that too

I'm not British so have no skin in the game really except when it's shoved down my throat like this, I found it cringey & unnecessary to share with the world ostensibly to celebrate their daughters birthday 👀As for putting the moonbump rumours to bed? I'm not quite sure they've done that, if anything it's stoked the fire, they just seem to get it wrong all the time, does it impact our lives? No, but it also invites people (like me) to form an opinion & it's usually a bad one

I also find it insulting that if you have a negative opinion it's because you're lead & said by "the media" rather than having formulated your own opinions based on what has gone on before from mostly their own mouths

And yet, no-one seems able to say what exactly has actually been said by their own mouths that is so horrifically offensive.

Whilst the media have been racist, sexist, hypocritical, and have criticised her for the tiniest of things such as putting her hands in her pockets, closing a car door and enjoying avocados. Jeremy Clarkson said she should be paraded naked through the streets, having shit thrown at her, and she's had several death threats.

Here's some examples of the horrible, petty and downright stupid things that have been said about her. These were (from their own mouths in interviews) the reasons why they left the UK, not "privacy".

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3896180/Prince-Harry-s-girlfriend-actress-Meghan-Markles.html (racist)

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6621047/How-Meghans-favourite-avocado-snack-fuelling-human-rights-abuses-drought-murder.html (petty and hypocritical given that Kate was praised for eating avocados)

and that's just the press examples. Twitter was way worse, she was regularly called a "bitch" a "bimbo" "whore" "slut" "whitch" etc. I don't recall her using any such terms, ever.

So can anyone give examples about what she and Harry have supposed to have said? Because from what I remember from the Oprah interview, they both had nothing but kind words to say about the Queen and didn't say anything about the rest of the family that wasn't just how they had been made to feel, no personal attacks at all. That and her saying she "didn't want to be alive any more" because of how she was being made to feel and Harry saying the racism was a large part of why they left.

And don't say that bloody courtesy, because anyone with half a brain can see she was mocking herself only.

Prince Harry's girl is (almost) straight outta Compton

Prince Harry might be visiting the crime-riddled LA neighborhood of Crenshaw if new girlfriend, Suits actress Meghan Markle, invites him back to meet her parents, Dailymail.com reveals.

Scorchio84 · 05/06/2025 17:42

@comeandhaveteawithme that's a bit disingenuous, Jeremy Clarkson was an asshole for saying that, no doubt but he apologized, rightly so & no one agreed with him but in all fairness you can't deny the insinuations both of them (H & M) made about his family being racist & unwelcoming, unhelpful, didn't cause a stir, they created a new narrative that they were being persecuted which as far as I can see wasn't the case at all, re your queen too right they didn't hang her out to dry but they left the accusations of racism hang in the air so people were left guessing "was it so & so or maybe that other so & so" I don't think that's fair, Harry in his book gave away a lot of personal details about others, not his place in my opinion

I don't give a shit about the curtsey but it's just another ill advised moment from people who should know better, they just seem tone deaf

mydogisthebest · 05/06/2025 17:42

Can people not just do things in private anymore? Why does everything have to be for social media ‘show’?

Yeah I agree with this. Especially because she’s trying so hard to be sexy with the twerking and dropping low. Just criiiinge.

She was not born into the Royal Family so no reason she would be like them in upbringing. She is an actress so not so weird as if it were Beatrice, Eugenie, Catherine etc.

MoominMai · 05/06/2025 17:48

Tbh, it’s hard to respect hypocrisy. The fact MM stated the RF treated her so bad she was suicidal and suffered alone with no mental support then as soon as she and Harry are ‘released’ feels the need to sell her story and how awful it is. Yet crudely calls her daughter the late Queens ‘nickname’ as a formal, first name and is desperate for her kids to retain their royal titles. Of course nothing better for one’s mental health than keeping links proactively to what caused you mental anguish. Then to top,it all off, she uses the title HRH Duchess of Sussex amongst friends when asked to not use it now they’re non working Royals and of course they’re so annoying they stated they only agreed to not use for profit! They’re too dim to understand the RF doesn’t want the titles used in any form by them as by association since she’s so high profile it could suggest that something they say or do is somehow okay with ‘the firm’. Sorry but I just find her insufferable. Even her podcasts and interviews are so incredibly shallow - unless she’s the one with the microphone and preprepared script, I find she has a very very superficial grip on whatever she’s being questioned on. Word salad at its finest. Sorry I realise this is just a rant but I’ve found it very cathartic anyway getting it off my chest! 😅

No it's good PR.

It's not Catherine. It's not the UK. Meghan has a certain supportive demographic. This is for them, not necessarily you or I. It smacks of 'I don't care' and that is actually GOOD for the duo (abd about time, assuming they are even thinking this much)

It's America, and I can tell you I follow many people on Instagram and this is the first time I have had someone share a Meghan post, so it's gaining traction.

Perhaps, maybe, possibly...their PR has finally picked up on something. You cannot please ALL the people all of the time. So please SOME of the people more of the time.

If it makes the committed haters happy, I doubt after that very pretentious interview the other day that Meghan will learn to stop taking herself so seriously.

Flash in the pan or no, I enjoyed it, yes.

LittleHouseOnThePrarie · 05/06/2025 17:54

I am at a bit of a loss to know what to say to you OP.

Were you not aware that the late Queen said' Recollections may vary'?

Which was a very tactful way of saying they lied.

Your entire thread is full of misunderstandings of the reality.

The latest bombshell by Harry was to say in public that he didn't know how much longer his father had to live. This was his petulant, emotional blackmail attack on his father who for whatever reasons was not available at H's beck and call. Given the King's health is very under wraps and we've been led to believe his treatment is moving 'in a positive direction' can't you see how such a comment by H was tactless at least and divisive at worst?

You seem to be tone deaf to the undercurrents of both what H+M say but also their actions.

He apologised in the media, not sure he had much choice, but yeah, he did.

But did he apologise to her? That remains less clear. Harry said that he wrote him a letter addressed to him, not to her, and that the contents were marked "private and confidential" so were not shared.

I think that writing to him and not her, even if the letter contained a apology, speaks volumes.

I don't know about this? I know his (JC) daughter was disgusted with him, again rightly so but when is an apology enough? I don't know the ins & outs but again Harry is telling all & sundry about what Jeremy did or didn't do, it just seems they (H&M) thrive on this kind of thing & again we only have Harry's version, as far as I know Jeremy hasn't addressed it after the apology, which personally I think is the right thing, draw a line under it & move on & I think it's that which H & M are incapable of

Missohnoyoubetterdont · 05/06/2025 18:11

To be honest it would not surprise me if there was an undercurrent of racism towards Meghan from the royal family, I mean they have form for making very dodgy comments especially the Duke of Edinburgh over the years…On various public engagements, he referred to Asians as "slitty-eyed", ridiculed Nigerian national dress and referred to Aboriginal people as "spear throwers". Not a great look. And Andrew was just as bad. Not people I would ever want to look up to.

Supposed to be the Royal Family sub-forum but it's regulars seem to spenf 95% of their time bitching about ex-Royals. You would think the royalists would have enough to crow about on the postive side - Camilla , Kate's nature videos, Edward and Sophie doing stuff that nobody cares about but apprently not !!!!
