Again, you really are a card. I am too thick to understand Waugh. No, I just found him a bit boring, prefer a James Pattison myself.

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:42

@RachelRosing where ??? How is it racist to say prioritise local grads, LIKE EVERY OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD DOES. Many UK graduates are foreigners ? Many are certainly not white ? How is this racist or us every country in the world racist.

Sevillian · 20/06/2025 20:43

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:35

@Sevillian er why ? He was gorgeous !

I was thinking more of Sebastian's wet character, which actually the 1982 BBC version managed to capture in Anthony Andrews physically. Presumably this would have been intentional.

I mean Aloysius is a bit fucked. Wouldn't the sight of that bear in his rooms that have sent you running back to St Hugh's or Hilda's pdq?

PurpleFairyLights · 20/06/2025 20:44

Just caught up with all the threads. Same old same old. Multiple posters attacking one poster because they want the UK to to prioritse UK MGs for UK training posts.

Reading all the threads together and the attacks on mums I got a misogynistic vibe.

Edited

Agree with that. He was v strange. And spoiled. But as a teenager I thought Anthony Andrew’s was cute. As an actor, not as Sebastian.

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:46

@PurpleFairyLights it’s good they are showing their real colours. Another new one popped up calling us all racist.

Sevillian · 20/06/2025 20:48

mumsneedwine why don't you call into MNHQ and ask if all of the people who are having a pop at you are legit?

That really might free your brain of all the conspiracy stuff.

Then you could enjoy your pizza.

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:49

So far I’m a hysterical, thick, lower class racist who needs to shut up and do as I’m told.

Doctors are unemployed, we need doctors. We have enough in the UK to fill all jobs. Facts, not racism.

wannabewitch · 20/06/2025 20:49

"The reason for the abyss at other grades (thank you for pointing this out) is because we train so many IMGs at Foundation and ST1-3 who then go home or move abroad."

That is utter utter rubbish. Your lack of understanding of the system for someone who purports to know it all is amazing. The issues are so in grained - we never trained enough doctors, ego have since the 1950s required IMGs to support the services.
The implementation of the EWTD and prior to that in the mid to late 1990s of reducing hours meant that a 1:3 rota now needed to be delivered by 8 doctors. WE are now on to 1:12 rotas, so even more doctors are required to deliver what the few used to. So the UK looked overseas to fill the gaps in the more senior junior posts( and yes they wee called junior then)
It then took a few years for the medical school numbers to increase and 5 years for them to come through and still the numbers did not match.
12000 into 13000 jobs means we still needed IMGS.

So if all the IMGS piss off back home which you and purple want to see happen - the UK would once again have a shortage of doctors and be going overseas to fill the gaps.

If you want to argue a cause -lear the history of that cause. The job that I started my SPR training i was a 1:4, I am now finishing off in the same job which is a 1:10 - where do you think those doctors have come from to fill those gaps in 7 years.

It is really funny. The Rachel one was hinting I was racist and Reform voter earlier.

It is almost like shiftwork.

@Sevillianreal person ? Are you a AI robot ? Conspiracy theory ? There’s a lot going on in your head that’s not in mine.

RachelRosing · 20/06/2025 20:40

So much veiled racism on this thread.

Someone else threw about accusations of racism on the last thread with zero evidence. Do you have any? You do realise ‘prioritising UK graduates’ include the international cohort?

Sevillian · 20/06/2025 20:51

You really don't seem to understand Waugh and you certainly don't know his background. It was the misinterpretation which suggested that you didn't understand him yes. Finding an author boring all well and good but that doesn't generally lead to misinterpretation.

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:52

@PurpleFairyLights we are definitely at the shift change again 😂. Like they can bully us to go away. Because we are just mummies.

Well clearly. A working knowledge of Waugh for a start.

Possibly just better educated generally? Not that Waugh is the litmus test, obviously, but he was thrown our way by Hollibobcat so I picked him up and ran with him and you fell at the first hurdle.

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:54

@Sevillian oh bless you. Sticking up for Waugh. I found him boring (along with Thomas Hardy). Again you insult, it’s because I didn’t understand him. I did. That’s why I thought he was boring and a snob.

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:56

And there we are again. I’m a thick pleb who should know my place.

Sevillian · 20/06/2025 20:57

Oh absolutely he was a massive snob.

You haven't actually read any of his books though, have you? It's skin deep. Again, no surprises.

You're the headline queen.

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:57

😂😂😂😂😂 it’s a disease

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 21:00

As I’ve reached the pub. Doctors are unemployed. More will be unemployed in 6 weeks. Some people find facts hard to take. But these are facts.

Enjoy your evening.

wannabewitch · 20/06/2025 21:09

We have enough in the UK to fill all jobs. Facts, not racism - we do not have enough of the right type at the right stage of the career pathway in some specilalities, ergo still need IMGS. Please qualify what you say with a modicum of relevant background

UK needs to prioritise UK graduates for specialty training/jobs just like every other country in the world.

So much veiled racism on this thread.

But only very barely veiled.

There is no racism. That argument will not work.

Thanks to the insightful posters on this thread particularly @pinkorange2 and @wannabewitch . I’ve mainly been following due to some perverse curiousity about the psychopathology of the two main antagonists. But it’s just got a bit circular and boring now. I think the more rational and balanced amongst us should just leave you to shout in your echo chamber for two.
