@Sevillian you’ve quoted yourself 😂

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:10

Really, you don’t understand the use of ellipses as sarcasm ? It’s a v UK thing to do

Sevillian · 20/06/2025 20:13

It is really not very veiled racism going on here.

Do you think my cultural background is not UK?

Sevillian · 20/06/2025 20:15

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:09

@Sevillian you’ve quoted yourself 😂

Bien sur. I quoted myself because within that quote was my quote of your post.

I then quoted your post again, Teletubbies style. Just to make sure you saw what you'd written on this morning's post.

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:18

@Sevillian oh so now I’m racist ??? Again the insult. No, I was just surprised you don’t know that doing this ‘ ‘ means you are quoting someone else, v often sarcastically in the UK. It’s a v common thing to do 🤷‍♀️. How is that racist ? What has racism got to do with nationality ?

Sevillian · 20/06/2025 20:19

This is utterly not what you incorporated in what you said.

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 19:46

@Sevillian just to warn you, I won’t be replying for a while because I’m going out. Might read some Chaucer on the train.

I would think Brideshead would be more up Sevillian's street.

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:20

@Sevillian ah again, the insult. I love the Teletubbies ! They make much more sense than a lot of posters on here.

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:20

@Hollibobcat 😂 I’d be the maid downstairs. Always thought they had much more fun

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:21

Just for @Sevillian(& because my tube is delayed). My students are awesome. They go to whichever Uni they like and don’t care about some randoms on the internet who have decided only some are worthy.

Sevillian · 20/06/2025 20:22

Hollibobcat · 20/06/2025 20:19

Well I just referenced the Man of Law in Chaucer but I'm certainly up for any test on Brideshead that you'd like to throw at me. Many beautiful passages in that book. Very different from Waugh's earlier books. Written largely in Chagford, if that's of interest to mumsneedwine.

Sevillian · 20/06/2025 20:19

‘Incorporated’ ? See, this is how you use them.

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:25

I loved Brideshead. Had a massive crush on Anthony Andrews

wannabewitch · 20/06/2025 20:28

WE do not have enough doctors - we have enough at the most junior grades but there is a huge abyss of doctors at other grades which are essential.

By your own posts you state this but can not recognise the maths - "just to clarify, there are 12,000 UK graduates and 13,000 training posts, so should be simple"

You can post what you like but the added comments are just plain nasty for young doctors who just like UKMGs want to work and have a career.

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:20

Waugh doesn't write about servants in Brideshead, other than Nanny.

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:32

@wannabewitch how am I nasty about RESIDENT doctors ?

Sevillian · 20/06/2025 20:32

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:23

‘Incorporated’ ? See, this is how you use them.

mumsneedwine you made an absolute pig's ear of whatever it was you were trying to say. Probably not worth digging your own hole any deeper. And also probably no loss to the rest of us.

Thanks for updating us on the tube delays. Very important to know how it is you find time to post in your busy schedule.

Well that's a bit weird.

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:33

@Sevillian I doubt he knew they existed. Far too beneath him.

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:35

@Sevillian er why ? He was gorgeous !

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:36

@Sevillian 😂 you just can’t help yourself. Rudeness if lost the arguement. ‘Incorporated’ was your word (that made no sense). Spell check is a pain.

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:38

The reason for the abyss at other grades (thank you for pointing this out) is because we train so many IMGs at Foundation and ST1-3 who then go home or move abroad.

Sevillian · 20/06/2025 20:38

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:33

@Sevillian I doubt he knew they existed. Far too beneath him.

Far from it. Waugh spent a lifetime trying to climb the social ladder from middle class North London. He absolutely knew what servants were since he was in far closer contact with them in his father's house than the aristocrats whose world he aspired to would have been.

As I say, happy to have any discussion you like about Brideshead/ Waugh but it could be that Hollibob has introduced a subject which yet again has shown you up again for your woeful lack of misunderstanding. You appear to be only aware of Brideshead headlines. Again, no surprise.

mumsneedwine · 20/06/2025 20:40

Middle class - climb out of that poverty eh ??? He had servants - he was rich. The servants weren’t.

RachelRosing · 20/06/2025 20:40

So much veiled racism on this thread.
