Their houses are shit holes and they are sob storying Stacey Solomon

I would rather torch my house and all the stuff in it then have to listen to her screechy voice all day

Just tidy your house up you dirty sods

There are a number of other tv programmes where you could wonder why anyone ever goes on them. Accepting your point and I would feel the same.

I see adverts for shows where there's something like 4 couples then there's 4 singles introduced and they have to try and tempt one half of a couple away, or something equally ridiculous.

And every advert there's someone upset or screeching at someone else. I can't fathom why you'd think "do you know what I need? Someone filming while some random person tries to make my partner cheat on me, to see if they will".

My sister wanted me to go on it because she hates me having a "house full"⁸ of toys that the kids play with she also irrationally hates my cake pans I should get rid of ALL (3) of them because how often do I bake a cake (tomorrow and a couple of weeks ago I bake often) she complains my children are on consoles but if she had her way that's all they would have left because it's "tidier" than toys

I said no and told her to get a grip 😂

What’s her house like?!

RobinEllacotStrike · 03/06/2025 22:12

Sort Your Life Out is pretty much the last terrestrial tv show I watch. Dd & I love it.

NoPrivateSpy · 03/06/2025 22:18

I really don’t understand how anyone can hate Stacey Solomon. She is probably the nicest tv presenter out there. And I wouldn’t describe her as screechy at all. But she does have a strong Essex accent so I’m going to hazard a guess that this is what you actually mean.

PicaK · 03/06/2025 22:19

I only recently discovered SYLO while recovering from a mental breakdown. I found the love and care on the programme so joyous. Which is why - even though the episodes are formulaic - ever episode is different. They help, they go over and above. And Stacey gives everyone a big hug. It's just lovely.

Mountainfrog · 03/06/2025 22:20

I love the programme (and Stacey)
but I do have questions… where do they find the time to clean, dry and press the clothes to get them on hangers in the warehouse by the next day?

when they are putting things in the rubbish/donate/sell piles why do they tip everything out into a big old jumble rather than keeping things relatively sorted?

do they ask the homeowners what colours they like as sometimes the paint jobs are a bit zany?

Silverbelles · 03/06/2025 22:31

Hoolihan · 03/06/2025 20:26

I'd be more embarrassed about this post tbh.

And there it is! The holier than thou post!

SparkyBlue · 03/06/2025 20:50

I think they make it look messier for the camera. If you look at the houses they are piled high with crap but they often don’t look dirty. In reality if rooms were like that you wouldn’t be able to clean them properly (and I’m far from a clean freak)as I don’t think they’d be moving their stuff regularly to dust and vacuum. They never have a very dusty very gritty grimy look so DH and I reckon the houses get cleaned and the stuff put back to look worse for the cameras

I love the programme and Stacey and the team, however, I agree that they do look as if they make the rooms messier. I’ve suspected it for a while now and look where they’ve done it. They often show the rooms with drawers and cupboard doors open which instantly makes a place look messier

WeCouldDoBetter · 03/06/2025 22:35

What an utterly horrible post. OP clearly has been very lucky and hasn't been through some of the shit that others have. Shame on you OP.

lifeonthelane · 03/06/2025 22:38

When I was a child, my mum's mental health was terrible, my Dad is very likely autistic (although of a generation where it went undiagnosted) and our house was horded and dirty. I'd have given anything for a show like Sort Your Life Out to come and give us a reset. Perhaps that's why people are willing to move through the embarrassment and participate - for their children's quality of life?

WeCouldDoBetter · 03/06/2025 22:39

ThePunnyPeachDuck · 03/06/2025 20:56

I also suspect Stacey is having an affair with the handy man

Honestly, I don't blame her. He's lush 😍

Meanwhile, in normal land, people help one another. That's what being part of a community is. It means doing things for other people at occasional inconvenience to yourself because you recognise that we're better and happier and stronger when we support and look out for one another. That's why my husband mows my elderly neighbour's garden when he does ours, instead of calling him a beggar and telling him to fuck off. That's why I drop meals round to my friends when they have babies. That's why I look after my son's friend when his mother works a late shift once a week.

These are normal ways people behave when they're not arseholes who see life as a zero sum game you have to win.

Exactly this.

This is how the world keeps turning round where I live too.

How sad for the OP to not have experienced how friendship and community works. You come across as very bitter and lacking any empathy OP.

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 03/06/2025 22:42

Have you even watched it? Or queer eye which is similar? There are often good reasons, depression, loss, grief.

Oh to be as perfect as you OP. Do you feel proud of yourself?

EllieEllie25 · 03/06/2025 22:43

NotOldYet · 03/06/2025 20:59

Who wouldn't 😂

I’m totally having an affair with him in my head.

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 03/06/2025 22:44

ThePunnyPeachDuck · 03/06/2025 20:41

Just fed up with this beggar something for nothing society that we live in.

where people don’t take ownership of their lives and expect someone else to do it for them

Yawn. Bet you’re a right laugh….

UneFoisAuChalet · 03/06/2025 22:44

I used to be obsessed with Hoarders (USA reality tv show). It’s not just stuff - it’s people living in shit and piss - literally. Empty coke bottles of piss and toilets that no longer worked filled with shit.

No matter how many episodes I watched, I never ‘got it’. It’s a filth porn. Watching people who can’t be arsed to bin rotting food or clear rubbish. It’s clearly mental health issues but that won’t get the viewers in. It’s shots of mice and vermin, piles of dirty clothes strewn across every room and a fridge opened by a hazmat wearing host that makes the viewer feel better about their own inadequacies. Absolute trash tv.

Girlmum1995 · 03/06/2025 22:48

I’m a domestic cleaner and I’ve learned that there is SO many reasons why a house ends up messy/cluttered/dirtys. Some people it’s mental health, some people weren’t ever taught how to organise/clean, some people get very overwhelmed and others have little kids and just can’t find the time.
this post is so extremely embarrassing!!! Imagine judging someone like that.
also horrible of you commenting on Stacey’s voice as if it’s something she can control

Mama2many73 · 03/06/2025 22:50

Love Stacey and love the programme.

I'm sure some of them are embarrassed by the state of their houses but most are clean. People ended up in these situations often after very traumatic events in their life, where for a while they struggled to cope and things build up from there.
They need help, support and love, which they get from Stacey and the team. The difference it makes to them is wonderful .

Puppymania · 03/06/2025 22:51

I think the OP needs to lay off the 🍷and lay off Stacey too. Do yourself a favour and watch something else that you might enjoy

SALaw · 03/06/2025 22:59

ThePunnyPeachDuck · 03/06/2025 20:56

I also suspect Stacey is having an affair with the handy man

I mean he is HOT. I get excited when he’s occasionally on Interior Design Masters too.

MBL · 03/06/2025 23:09

MistressoftheDarkSide · 03/06/2025 21:01

Be thankful OP that you're oh so self sufficient and responsible.

Bugger embarrassment, I'm drowning after being widowed three years ago, with two storage units and a stuffed flat, full if dead people's things and with limited resources to deal with it. Frankly I'd welcome the sort of sorting out that this programme does, because I'm broke and grieving - my Dad died in April, my MIL died last week and I'm surrounded by dead people's stuff and barely holding it together to organise Dad's funeral next week.

I do have some good friends who help when they can, but they have their own lives and problems.

Frankly the sneery tone of the OP is a horrible indictment of modern attitudes, and it's no wonder people end up with significant mental health problems from the weight of such sanctimonious judgement.

I'm sorry for your loses.

I love this show so much. I'm neither drowning in clutter or a neat freak but the team are so nice and they transform people's lives. I would love them to organise me but I don't have an extreme house or want to be on TV. I think the OP is unusual, most people are more empathetic. One of the strengths of the show is the niceness of everyone, the presenters, the families and the kids are amazing. I find it quite uplifting.

I hope things turn a corner for you soon.

DinoLil · 03/06/2025 23:10

@ThePunnyPeachDuck I've not seen the programme, but come on. Put your money where your mouth is, share pics of your home.

I'm assuming it's about messy homes? Let's see how spotless and organised yours is?

Does anyone know if the young woman who had children, who was decluttering and redecorating her home, is still on here? As an aside. I thought she was incredible, I can't remember her name.

BraOffPjsOn · 03/06/2025 23:12

i wonder if they are all that messy really!
Pretty sure if I emptied the contents of my loft and garage all over the house then mine could like it too! (I have been tempted to do this so she can come in and organise my whole house!)

Baravia · 03/06/2025 23:20

Ever watched "How Clean is Your House" with Kim & Aggie in OP? Compared to SYLO you ain't seen nothing yet in terms of wondering how these people aren't too embarrassed to go on TV!

ttcat37 · 03/06/2025 23:20

Oh no I like Stacey! Although she did nick the idea from Nick Knowles off DIY SOS. He did a show called Big House Clearout, exactly the same.
