Their houses are shit holes and they are sob storying Stacey Solomon

I would rather torch my house and all the stuff in it then have to listen to her screechy voice all day

Just tidy your house up you dirty sods

i was on a similar thing about 9384928 years ago and tbh i was desperate to be on tv (shallow that i was. and still am).

Truly I admire your honesty here.

Oh my I remember this I fell asleep on the sofa woke up and there were naked people all over the screen

I’ve just had a flashback to that naked Keith Chegwin thing 🙈

NW3Lady · 03/06/2025 21:23

I’m just grateful there are far fewer shows now where children are subjected to this kind of thing (anyone remember ‘Honey We’re Killing the Kids’ for example?). A decade or two ago there were a lot of them. The lack of informed consent and ethics of that really bothered me, yet nobody else seemed to be saying so at the time. Just imagine if there was a programme out there somewhere about how difficult you were to potty train.

Teacup40 · 03/06/2025 21:23

It's often a reflection of someone's mental state, a bit like making a provocative post just to get attention.

Just fed up with this beggar something for nothing society that we live in.

where people don’t take ownership of their lives and expect someone else to do it for them

Ever considered that some people just need a nudge and a bit of a helping hand to help them get on the right track?

Yes I expect it's inconceivable if you have no friends and don't love anyone 🍷

Yes, I remember that show! Those projected photos of the before adults were the stuff of nightmares. They all began looking like Gollum, ate a couple of carrots and then got projected photos that looked like models. Good telly but no doubt awful for the kids.

Daisy12Maisie · 03/06/2025 21:28

One of my friends has depression and so is embarrassed about her house as she hasn’t been able to keep up with it.
3 of us are going round to blitz one of the rooms. It’s because she is so overwhelmed she can’t do it. If we help her then it’s a social event. I hate clutter and don’t have much stuff so it’s not something I can imagine doing but I can see how people who are struggling with other things may struggle. They go on the program to get some help with it.

soupyspoon · 03/06/2025 21:30

INteresting opening post. Strange

But anyway I never normally watch it but caught the end of an episode with an Indian family with tons of various pots and pans, tons of Saris, tons of lovely bangles etc.

And I thought, I wouldnt be getting rid of any of that lot. I mean she did have a lot of glasses but by the time they had removed a lot of it I thought it was a real shame they lost a lot of stuff.

LaughingCat · 03/06/2025 21:31

ThePunnyPeachDuck · 03/06/2025 20:55

Everyone asking why I watch it, it’s because I like to have a 🍷 , watch the car crash and have a moan about.

🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Oh, OP…edgelording is so 2012. Sure you find it so amusing to sit in judgement of a night and try to outrage farm online. You’re just not very good at it.

I love the shows like ‘Nightmare Landlords, Slum Tenants’ or ‘Neighbours from Hell’ - horrible people getting their comeuppance is super satisfying. Not seen SYLO, but it kinda sounds like DIY SOS for messy houses and I am here for that. People who just need a helping hand getting the support they need…heartwarming and lovely.

Don’t see where the embarrassment comes into it tbh.

Allseeingallknowing · 03/06/2025 21:32

FartyAnimal · 03/06/2025 20:28

Don't be mean about Stacey - she's a lovely woman! And obviously anyone who is embarrassed by a mess wouldn't be in that state in the first place! Do the families get paid?

Their reward is having their stuff sorted!

vodkaredbullgirl · 03/06/2025 21:37

ThePunnyPeachDuck · 03/06/2025 20:56

I also suspect Stacey is having an affair with the handy man

Scrapping the barrel a bit there 🙄

InSpainTheRain · 03/06/2025 21:40

I love the programme and Stacey! I have to say I couldn't live like the homes featured but it good viewing if you want to chill.

StrongasSixpence · 03/06/2025 21:42

suki1964 · 03/06/2025 21:11

DH says we need to get the team in here - and seriously my house is pretty tidy

I personally love the programme, yes Ive sat tonight and watched a repeat

I like it because it's really helping people. The people they are helping arent lazy feckers, there is a back story

As someone who has in the past, struggled with severe depression where even changing undies was a major win, I do get how things can get like this. Even recently Ive had to clear out 4 years of clutter - again depression, just getting up and into work was as good as it got .

I do think the rooms are pretty much staged tbh. I finally got to clear out a wardrobe where I was just shoving stuff in for years, and half the clothes were mouldy

Remember "How clean is your Home? " I remember on that they went into a woman's home, successful high flyer, house was supposed to have been filthy while she was going into work with a full face, hair done etc - and the sink and bath were pure black -the kitchen was covered in mould - no way was she able to be keeping herself clean and so well turned out if those rooms were real

God I loved How Clean is Your House. Occasionally watch an old episode on YT when I need cleaning motivation. Houses take a while to get that filthy so I don't think they were staged.

RealEagle · 03/06/2025 21:43

mumda · 03/06/2025 20:43

Never mind embarrassing bodies ... What was the one where Gillian mckeith would look at your poo in a tupperware container ?

I remember that ,in my house she was known as the shit woman

MouldyCandy · 03/06/2025 21:43

Clean it: Fix it is even worse. In one episode they moved the sofa and "boak". Noone had vacuumed it, or under it in YEARS - and they had a dog. Seriously, it takes less than 5 minutes a week.

Have you watched all the episodes @ThePunnyPeachDuck?

There are plenty of examples of families dealing with dreadful circumstances such as life limiting illnesses and bereavement.

Nothing to do with ‘something for nothing’ society. Just hard times.

ChiaraRimini · 03/06/2025 21:47

I ❤️ Stacey, she’s a brilliant presenter and the chemistry with the rest of the team is great. I am pretty ruthless with clutter but have been inspired to buy drawer organisers for my makeup and jewellery and love them! I do think the show is leaning too much on the sad back stories of the families which makes it a bit uncomfortable.

MissPobjoysPonies · 03/06/2025 21:51

forgotmyusername1 · 03/06/2025 21:14

I raise you naked attraction

Was so coming here to say everyone has clearly bleached Naked Attraction out of their brains - and that was for a date in dodgy pub and a possible snog/shag

I’ve not seen it but I feel for anyone with hoarding tendencies and chaotic tendencies 😢

JudgeJ · 03/06/2025 21:54

Stompythedinosaur · 03/06/2025 20:27

I think this is a pretty mean-spirited post. I think people struggle with keeping their homes tidy for lots of reasons.

I guess not everyone can be as perfect as the op.

There's a wide gulf between being a lazy slob and being perfect and I would imagine most of us are somewhere in the middle. Programmes like this one attract the lazy people generally and as long as yet another life-style choice becomes designated an 'illness' there will be more and more who choose to neglect their homes.

Bananaram · 03/06/2025 21:55

A close friend of mine struggles massively with being a single parent, has severe depression and anxiety and really struggles to keep on top of her home. Watching this programme has really helped her try and tackle it bit by bit and it's made her feel better just starting with one room.

You don't always know everyone's circumstances, so maybe try to be a little less judgemental next time.

To be fair, Rob is a mega hottie.

A mega hottie who is good at DIY 😍

the80sweregreat · 03/06/2025 21:59

It’s a sign of the times on these shows. On ‘ how clean is your house ‘ ? the presenters were generally hard on the house owners and shamed them into cleaning up. These days , the presenters are more understanding that it can be hard for them and they need help. Both had the same outcome , but the presenting style was different.
Gillian Mckeith was also more ‘ tough ‘ in her approach, but that show wouldn’t be made today I’m sure ! She was brutal, but people lost weight and felt better for it.
I like the Stacey one. (Dilly is hard on them , but not terrible! )

Juneatlast · 03/06/2025 22:02

God there are some sanctimonious replies to the OP!

I don't know why people go on Location Location instead of just using RIGHTMOVE!!!

Goingawayistricky · 03/06/2025 22:06

I know a couple of families whose homes are a complete tip and I actually quite admire they can let me in with zero embarrassment. It says “it’s beyond us” rather than “ I know it’s a shit heap but I can’t he arsed”. There is a difference.
