Their houses are shit holes and they are sob storying Stacey Solomon

I would rather torch my house and all the stuff in it then have to listen to her screechy voice all day

Just tidy your house up you dirty sods

Of course you do hun 🍷💋

Yes I expect it's inconceivable if you have no friends and don't love anyone 🍷

AnotherEmily · 03/06/2025 20:50

Hoarding is usually a mental health condition. It’s not always as easy as just tidying the house. It’s really hard when you are sentimental about everything too. Also, I love Stacey so YABU.

I'm sorry you have no one in your life that helps you, but I can see why!

SparkyBlue · 03/06/2025 20:50

I think they make it look messier for the camera. If you look at the houses they are piled high with crap but they often don’t look dirty. In reality if rooms were like that you wouldn’t be able to clean them properly (and I’m far from a clean freak)as I don’t think they’d be moving their stuff regularly to dust and vacuum. They never have a very dusty very gritty grimy look so DH and I reckon the houses get cleaned and the stuff put back to look worse for the cameras

I love this programme but you did make me laugh OP 😆😆 YANBU I am in horror watching often. How do people let it get so bad and don’t even do anything about it!!
my house gets about 10% as messy and im
like shit let’s clear a drawer out or sort my cupboard out

Did you watch it last week?

I felt so sorry for the kids who were in desperate need of a good wash and hair cut

That makes sense tbh

Just like the many other 'reality show' garbage out there. If you hate it dont watch it. Do you watch big brother or love island by any chance?!

All utter garbage... the reason I don't have a tv licence!

WhereHasMyPlanetGone · 03/06/2025 20:53

Why do you watch it? I’ve never seen it, it’s quite easy to avoid.

Winter2020 · 03/06/2025 20:53

ThePunnyPeachDuck · 03/06/2025 20:41

Just fed up with this beggar something for nothing society that we live in.

where people don’t take ownership of their lives and expect someone else to do it for them

It's not something for nothing.

The TV channel gets cheap entertaining TV and the family get help resetting their house. It's win win.

ChopstickNovice · 03/06/2025 20:53

What a mean post. I like SYLO. The team meeting the people where they are and help them in the situation now rather than saying "oh you should have been doing xyz." It's very wholesome.

Yellowhammer09 · 03/06/2025 20:54

I would love to do it, but have it on DVD for only me and my family to watch in the privacy of our own home 😆

ThePunnyPeachDuck · 03/06/2025 20:55

Everyone asking why I watch it, it’s because I like to have a 🍷 , watch the car crash and have a moan about.

🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

I also suspect Stacey is having an affair with the handy man

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 03/06/2025 20:57

Don't you think that they probably just tip all their stuff out onto the floor to make decent telly with the goal of having someone fix their house up for free?

But, yeah, I couldn't stomach the embarrassment raising my children in a pigsty even for that.

NotOldYet · 03/06/2025 20:57

I love this show! I would absolutely love the help they offer, but I would hate to be on TV.

I'm convinced that they tell the family not to pack anything away for a week or two before they film. Its about the volume of stuff they own, not the mess - but if its all packed away you don't get the initial shock factor.

We have far too much crap in this house. Using Stacey as inspiration to get it sorted. One box at a time.

Dutchhouse14 · 03/06/2025 20:58

I sometimes suspect they deliberately make it look worse for the cameras, like empty out every cupboard and drawer and chuck it in middle of the floor or on a table.
I'm not watching tonight, it's a repeat I think, but there's been lots of houses where I think they can't really live like that.
My 18 yo DD is autistic and really struggles to her room, it's like a bombs hit it, can't see carpet, I'm not allowed to touch anything or help so I understand some people really do struggle.
But to the extent they show on TV with families with children holding down jobs etc I find it hard to believe it's always as bad as they depict especially as these families are reaching out to a TV show for help, I'm not sure someone who was really really struggling, impacted by poor mental health etc would do this.

tammienorrie · 03/06/2025 20:58

I love Stacey and think she’s ace. But I can also agree that people are awful and should be mortified about living in a pigsty.

jesihar · 03/06/2025 21:01

@ChopstickNovicewholesome, yes, I agree, harmless.

@ThePunnyPeachDuckpresenters aside, I think for me I get the ethos. I’ve seen some very vulnerable people and very unwell people who would have benefited.

However, as I sit, looking around I am thinking, yeah, I get it. I couldn’t have children. So my house was DH and I for twenty years. Then we lost both sets of parents, so we have some things of theirs, and their parents. Then we have kept everything of our first babies, who were adopted. Then I gave birth to two, so that doubled. Part of my brain at 45 cannot ever accept I am no longer trying for a baby, that having been my default. So we have the baby things.

then an elderly lady died, who I cared for, she had nobody in the world. So I have personal important bits of hers.

so I suppose what I am saying is I get how it escalates, and on that note I do need to clear out.

or do I? House is clean and tidy here, it’s just all packed and stored. But for what?

Edited

Do you think so? Surely the families wouldn’t be happy for their houses to be exaggerated even more messy? Wouldn’t they tell family and friends hey the show makes it look so much worse - and hence it would be a leak about the show being BS?

MistressoftheDarkSide · 03/06/2025 21:01

Be thankful OP that you're oh so self sufficient and responsible.

Bugger embarrassment, I'm drowning after being widowed three years ago, with two storage units and a stuffed flat, full if dead people's things and with limited resources to deal with it. Frankly I'd welcome the sort of sorting out that this programme does, because I'm broke and grieving - my Dad died in April, my MIL died last week and I'm surrounded by dead people's stuff and barely holding it together to organise Dad's funeral next week.

I do have some good friends who help when they can, but they have their own lives and problems.

Frankly the sneery tone of the OP is a horrible indictment of modern attitudes, and it's no wonder people end up with significant mental health problems from the weight of such sanctimonious judgement.

uncomfortablydumb60 · 03/06/2025 21:02

I do love the programme and the way she organises things into storage containers, and I love the ideas like storage inside the stairs and a tiny office which pulls out of a corner
I think the people are overwhelmed and can't see where to begin so don't care about airing their dirty laundry in public( see what I did there?!)
A lot of the home organisation/ cleaning programmes are the same, but they're my favourite " reality TV shows"

fruitandvegoverload · 03/06/2025 21:02

I think it's you who needs to sort your life out OP. Clean up your attitude, throw out your sneery comments about lovely Stacey and stop hoarding judginess.
