To think that women (or men) who drop their kids off at school in PJS, go shopping in Tesco in pj's and come down to the breakfast in a hotel in pj's are wrong in the head?

I visited Amsterdam last year and was shocked to see an apparently middle class women coming down to breakfast in her pj's,dressing gown and slippers. Similarly going round Tescos where there are people, especially women in pj's and slippers. No doubt I'll be called an old right wing fascist or something.

@YourAmplePlumPoster this is all just YOUR opinion on what is presentable or not.

I'm delighted to see my "controversial" thread is still going.

Because of the lack of attention at home?

YourAmplePlumPoster · 04/06/2025 19:41

Anyway, the Corbyn vision of the UK seems to be going well. A gigantic welfare state where nobody is responsible for their behaviour and a gigantic refugee camp where illegals are hosted in hotels.

Is the attention filling the deep void where your heart should be?

Have you tried Tinder?

Seems to me a lot of stereotyping of mentally ill or disabled people as not being able to perform basic functions such as looking presentable in public or even get a job. My son has a job and also looks presentable in public. However, we are talking about people who to hotels and shopping centres and are too lazy to get dressed.

How the f* is it stereotyping when disabled people other than your son have told you why they need to!?

YOU are stereotyping based on your son's experience, rather than listening to others.

IpsyUpsyDaisyDoos · 04/06/2025 21:20

YourAmplePlumPoster · 04/06/2025 18:29

My sons here right now. He has a crutch and is on disability benefits. He said they're just lazy and don't care.

People other than your family exist.

Get over it.

There are facebook groups for people like you, YourAmple. You would not be in a minority on those, you'd be applauded for your hyperbole, complete with flag waving.

LBFseBrom · 04/06/2025 21:54

Seriously, how often do you see people out in their nightclothes, apart from putting out the bins? I never do.

Does he wear makeup and jewellery before you let him out in public? After all, if you think women need that to look presentable surely you’d expect the same from men…

Depends what times I'm walking the dogs. Every school run in the morning there are a couple. Also if the corner shop is open you see one or two, often teenagers.
I know people say ' it's only the school run/corner shop, chill out!'.....my response would be ' it's only 30 seconds to chuck on day clothes, so no!'.

Where do you live? I’ve been doing the school
run for a solid 11 years now and never seen it.

I live in a poor area of the SE, people aren't afraid to wander around in their pjs!
Maybe where you live it isn't seen as socially acceptable and nobody wants to be the first.
Once the floodgates open though and it becomes normalized you get used to seeing people wandering down the street at 8am in their grubby pjs.....can of Stella in one hand, joint in the other!😆

Actually, if you don't like the way people behave / live where you live, maybe you shouldn't live there? Rather than refusing to "calm down" about what they're doing?

Move to an area that meets your standards.

My God!! I never thought of that!! You are an absolute genius!!
I will pack up my servants and Bentley and move forthwith to a lovely little village in the countryside.😊

(meanwhile back in the real world I cant even afford to fix my boiler or plaster the hole in the wall. Just because people have to live in shitholes doesnt mean they cant have basic standards.....just so you know).

There's a difference between having standards and being a snob. Your can of Stella in grubby PJs anecdote, showed snobbery.

TwoFeralKids · 05/06/2025 12:51

Weirdly around here it seems to be Romanian parents who do it. Full dressing gown as well.

Maybe lower your snobbery til you can afford to be a snob then.

Your standards are for you to live up to, not anyone else.

Blimey, you are observant! I can honestly say, back in the distant past when I did school drop off, I hardly noticed anyone unless I knew them, I also assumed they didn't notice me :-). In the same way I do not observe neighbours. I certainly wouldn't take note of anyone's ethnicity; maybe I would if they wore full native American headdress or were Eskimos with a husky-drawn sledge but I've not come across either (even in Iceland).

Okay? I will rephrase it as not Romanian but Roma as you can tell. I was going to say I wasn't being racist. Just an observation! I am sure in another notorious area in my city it will be British people. It isn't that common though thankfully.

Spoken like somebody who doesnt see this kind of thing on a daily basis.

Basic standards are not snobbery, they are just that....basic standards.
Given how many ways you can dress without looking like you are in pajamas I dont see a reason for people rocking up in Sainsburys in their Disney Pjs and dressing gown.

Needmorelego · 05/06/2025 14:52

The thing with standards.....
I saw a woman the other day.
Very neat and tidy hair. Wearing make up and jewellery. A "smart" business type suit outfit with shiny little healed shoes.
Oh doesn't she sound lovely? Just the type of person the OP must surely love?

Unfortunately she was stood at a bus stop underneath a big "no smoking sign" puffing away on a cigarette. Blowing the smoke around, flicking the ash around.
Revolting.
Absolutely revolting.
She was polluting the air and the smoke smell making me feel sick. And of course there's the issue of her disgusting smoke potentially getting into MY lungs.
So despite being very nicely dressed she could actually have an effect on my health.
But a women quietly buying some food in Tesco while wearing a clean pair of pyjamas and not bothering anyone at all.... she's the scum of the earth and the downfall of polite society.
Apparently 🙄
