To think that women (or men) who drop their kids off at school in PJS, go shopping in Tesco in pj's and come down to the breakfast in a hotel in pj's are wrong in the head?

I visited Amsterdam last year and was shocked to see an apparently middle class women coming down to breakfast in her pj's,dressing gown and slippers. Similarly going round Tescos where there are people, especially women in pj's and slippers. No doubt I'll be called an old right wing fascist or something.

Being doing this for 20 years. I can paint my nails with my eyes closed. Two seconds per nail, I've counted. I also do them as the lift goes up, as I sit on the toilet, etc. I only gave this example to say that looking well does not take any time at all.

And when you are painting your nails, for those seconds, your hands are off the wheel and you are not looking in front of you. Of course that’s dangerous.

It doesn't make it less dangerous that you've been doing it for 20 years. Just shows you have a disregard for the safety of others.

People of a certain group do it in my village shop all the time, I can't drive past it without seeing a woman in her nightgown and slippers leaving the shop

BYW don't buy ready meals for your kids which Mumsnet is advertising.

As soon as I saw these in Iceland I knew they wouldn't be popular on here!! And no of course i won't buy them

YourAmplePlumPoster · 04/06/2025 16:43

My other pet dislike is people who eat their lunch, smelly food, on the tube and play loud music on their phones. But that's probably owing to some mental affliction or being vulnerable as are the pajama wearing people. What I'm expecting to see is someone doing all three at the same time on the tube. I'll report back if I see it.

Ah, your thread was starting to slow down so you had to throw in another ‘controversial’ opinion to revive it.
Don’t you get any attention at home?

YourAmplePlumPoster · 04/06/2025 16:47

Perhaps you're one of the people who eats burger and fries on the tube while listening to loud music and wearing pj's 🤔

@YourAmplePlumPoster ok the loud music on phones I will agree with you because..
a - it's really fricking annoying
b - it can actually have an effect on someone's health and wellbeing.
Someone wearing PJ's in public or eating food however actually has zero effect on your life and isn't stopping you going about your day.

Never done any of those things, but nice try.

If you are on the tube, then may I suggest you get off at the nearest station and locate a shop that sells grips... so you can buy one. And get over your phobia of other people wearing PJs, something that has zero affect on you. You have eyes.... turn them to look at something else.

Needmorelego · 04/06/2025 16:58

@XenoBitch love it 😂

In answer to your question, yup definitely wrong in the head.
When I see people in PJs they always remind me of Vicky Pollard in Little Britain.

Vicky Pollard wasn't "wrong in the head". She was just different to you.

Wrong in the head is incredibly offensive.

As is this whole thread. What makes it worse, it's deliberate.

It's been reported and @MNHQ have been tagged many times. It's appalling it's been let run with so many insults to mentally and physically disabled / unwell people.

She was also a posh white man's (punching down) caricature of a working class child. It makes her an interesting choice for this thread.

Do you think mentally unwell/disabled people run around in their pyjamas? As I have mentioned, I have a disabled son who uses a crutch to go out and about but he wouldn't be wearing his pj's.

Yes but the usual suspects will be making excuses for the bad behaviour.

Your DS does not represent all disabled people though.

YourAmplePlumPoster · 04/06/2025 18:29

My sons here right now. He has a crutch and is on disability benefits. He said they're just lazy and don't care.

And he he blessed to not have a disability that affects executive function or means he lacks the energy where he has to decide to get dressed or got out.

YourAmplePlumPoster · 04/06/2025 18:34

Seems to me a lot of stereotyping of mentally ill or disabled people as not being able to perform basic functions such as looking presentable in public or even get a job. My son has a job and also looks presentable in public. However, we are talking about people who to hotels and shopping centres and are too lazy to get dressed.

It does not affect you. Just avert your eyes. It is that easy.

You're really having the nerve to talk about stereotyping!
