To think this is not acceptable for a “breakfast bundle” at Airbnb?

Me and DP went away for a night away and picked to stay at an Airbnb on Saturday night. We checked in about 3 and had to leave at 9 on Sunday. It was expensive (around £150 for the night) but it was a nice place. The owner messaged me before we got there and asked if we would like to add on a breakfast box each. Sounded like a nice way to refuel for another day of walking so I said yes. A request was sent for £20, which seemed okay for a breakfast for 2.

When I got there, there was 2 buns from Aldi, a tin of beans from Aldi, 2 bacon rashers in the packet, 2 sausages and 2 hash browns, and 10 cherry tomatoes. It was in a plastic tub in the fridge.

I am not a complainer at all. I really don’t want to complain, but I really don’t think this is justified. Aibu?

That's ridiculous. YANBU.

W0tnow · 26/05/2025 14:00

It sounds acceptable. Not great, not amazing.

NeelyOHara · 26/05/2025 14:00

Cheap fuckers. Leave it on the review so they can’t mug anyone else off.

Bumblebeestiltskin · 26/05/2025 14:00

I would have asked what was included before saying yes and paying, personally.

For 20 quid and you have to cook it yourself???

FieldInWhichFucksAreGrownIsBarren · 26/05/2025 14:01

They're making a decent profit off of that aren't they?
I'd absolutely complain as that is shit for what you paid.

Yes, I’d agree. I mean, it wouldn’t work for me, as I’m vegetarian, but it sounds like a just about adequate provision for an ‘English breakfast’.

What were you expecting? Did you ask in advance?

For £20? It was all in Aldi packaging!

No eggs!?! I don't think that is acceptable, you could get a better breakfast cooked for you for £10 each in my area.

PermanentTemporary · 26/05/2025 14:07

I'm terrible at complaining so I would probably suck it up, but yes that's shit. I might put something like 'breakfast box is available, check what's on offer before ordering' on the review. But my inability to get bolshie about this sort of crap is why I don't do Airbnb any more.

user2848502016 · 26/05/2025 14:08

Awful! Having to leave at 9am is cheeky too!

HouseofDreams · 26/05/2025 14:09

Why would you not ask what it was before ordering?

hyggetyggedotorg · 26/05/2025 14:10

If you’re needing to leave fairly early, I wouldn’t want a breakfast I need to cook & wash up after personally.

I suppose a similar breakfast in a cafe might cost around £10 each but it would at least be prepared for you with no cleaning up afterwards.

I wouldn’t complain as such but I would certainly mention it in my review.

Clockpic · 26/05/2025 14:11

I don't know what you'd be expecting? The same stuff from Sainsbury's have been OK?

Of course there'll be a profit in it for them, they're running business.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 26/05/2025 14:11

I’d be more bothered about the 9am checkout.

Clockpic · 26/05/2025 14:12

I'd also have asked what the breakfast bundle was before paying £20 for it!

MrsAvocet · 26/05/2025 14:13

I'd say that's just about an adequate cooked breakfast but a ridiculous price. You can get a big full English breakfast for less than that in any number of cafes near me and it is only a bit more for unlimited cold and cooked items in a Premier Inn. And there's no cooking or washing up to do.

I'd love to know what's acceptable about it.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 26/05/2025 14:14

Awful! The idea of a box implies some proper bread, pastries, jams, that sort of thing.

And then maybe some items to cook as well, like a box of eggs.

LoafofSellotape · 26/05/2025 14:14

What did you think would be included? Sounds ok to me. They're not doing to provide it for free, are they? I think I check next time.

SlightlyFurther · 26/05/2025 14:15

Scottsleeping · 26/05/2025 14:04

For £20? It was all in Aldi packaging!

What were you expecting, though? I’d have gone out for breakfast, or you had the option to bring it from home, so I suppose you’re paying for convenience. But I would definitely have asked exactly what my £20 got me.

Koalafan · 26/05/2025 14:15

Always best to ask what it includes beforehand. I'd leave a honest review stating that you assumed it might be slightly more generous.

Bjorkdidit · 26/05/2025 14:18

That's probably not even a fiver's worth of food and supplying single items out of packets is really tight for what you paid.

DP and I had a lovely cooked breakfast with tea and more food than that for £9 each in a seaside cafe last weekend. YANBU to feel a bit ripped off by what they gave you.

PinkyFlamingo · 26/05/2025 14:18

Well no it's not great for £20 but I would have asked in advance what was included. You would have been better going to a Wetherspoons!

Scottsleeping · 26/05/2025 14:18

I was expecting a nice breakfast, not something I could have picked up from the Aldi that was a 2 minute drive from the house. As others have said, we could have got a cooked breakfast for around the same price at a cafe and have no preparing or clearing up to do
