Just being nosey and quite bored 😅

So..me, mid 40’s, live abroad, sat on balcony drinking a Somersby, Dd, 7 will come up to bed in a minute and we’ll do bedtime story. I’ll probably come back on the balcony when she’s asleep. Dh going out

Anyone else? Vague age, area, plans? Sm shows me everyone is out and my road is very quiet

Woman in her thirties. Currently at home, just put my son to bed and sat alone pondering how shit my life is. "Partner" has ignored me all day, said he doesn't want to be near me. He just left for the pub and asked me to cook his dinner for when he's back.

is there a backstory which makes him look slightly less of a prick?

74, but feel 30 inside !
Had a lovely productive day at home,washing , cleaning chatting to family. We live in Yorkshire, no kids but a great family.
For once I was on a roll and cleaned the whole house in one day, which at my age is amazing.
So feeling very happy looking round at my lovely clean house...Won't last though.
DH watching an old black and white gangster film.
He's lovely🥰, looking forward to celebrating our golden wedding anniversary in a couple of weeks
Having a cup of camomile tea, scrolling on here before going to bed in a minute.

Blessings to you both. We just had our 54th and feel so grateful to have my lovely man beside me ☺️

ThatNaiceMember · 24/05/2025 23:11

Late 40s, in bed, as is DH who is asleep, I'm reading Mumsnet... Spent the evening watching early episodes of Handmaids Tale and drinking wine together. One child in Brighton at a friend's, two teenagers in bed, eldest child in bedroom probably working (works for an American company) ...Looking forward to doing nothing tomorrow (more Handmaid Tale?) before everything starts again on Monday 😁

@BrunchBarBandit I hate a bad meal. 😿
@OysterSatin jealous!! Enjoy! 😺
@Noodge still chilly enough for the electric blanket?!🙀

... and baby is now, blissfully, asleep. 😇

Edited

Yes (Yorkshire) and It's just nice on my back. I weight lift a lot plus have (non-age related)pain issues Smile

FNDandme · 24/05/2025 23:40

Late 30’s UK based just came up to bed having last scroll on phone then onto read kindle after binge watching the new clarksons farm episodes. Listening to DD snoozing on the monitor, fan on and rain pelting the windows 🪟

Unfortunately not. I'm a broken woman.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 24/05/2025 23:57

@swissmummy12345 @TheOriginalEmu
YVR/Vancouver. Sorry! YVR is faster and common shorthand here. 🤦‍♀️

It's still sunny, just going on for 4pm, dc slept almost 2 hrs each and I managed two coats of paint behind fridge and adjacent bit of wall under cabinet/above counter plus clean-ip. PITA to do it, and looks like it may need a light touch up, but will save that for another day.
Winning today!!!! 🤗

Mumtobabyhavoc · 25/05/2025 00:06

@ThatNaiceMember that's a lot of dystopia! 😵‍💫
@pestowithwalnuts sending you a hug. 💐
@Sunshineaftertherain1 do you have an exit strategy? 🤞

Ahh, sounds lovely, whereabouts? We don’t have squirrels (I don’t think!) so can’t be where we are, but also early summer

Small ish southern town in the USA

Daysgo · 25/05/2025 02:47

Early 60s, just woke, fell asleep on couch, live on own, now watching altered carbon

Gatsbycheersmeme · 25/05/2025 03:42

40 years old, in the South, still awake! I have lots of worries in my head and am thinking how to be strong.

I will try to make today a good day and take my toddler to the park, make a delicious meal and maybe treat myself. I probably should sleep first though!

Eminybob · 25/05/2025 03:50

Mid 40’s married with 2 young DC in the north west.

Im lying wide awake as I always am at this time stressing about stuff. Anything and everything really. I really need to go to sleep soon as got a long day tomorrow, got to drive 2 hours away for a wedding, it will be a late night. Yet here I am.

@Mumtobabyhavoc it really is, might break it up with something a bit lighter 😅

NW3Lady · 25/05/2025 06:51

Early 40s. London. Having a morning scroll whilst baby plays on the floor. She’s just learned to clap and is so pleased with herself.

SherlocksHome · 25/05/2025 08:38

Feeling so sad today.

My DC’s father left just before number 2 was born. He’s had very little to do with them since. New wife, new kids, new wife won’t allow him to see old kids. We did see him several times a year when they were younger (behind new wife’s back) but since covid, hardly any contact.

DD (19) sent me a message last night she wants to send to her Dad. It’s the saddest thing I’ve ever read. She’s so hurt and angry. He never texts or phones. Puts money in their bank account on birthdays and Christmas and that’s really it. No cards, no gifts, no interest.

I always wondered when they were growing up whether it would hit them one day, just what a shit he is. It seems that day is here.

That's so heartbreaking for your children and you as their mum. There just aren't any words. Sending you support though. 🩷

The smell pervading the hallway after would suggest otherwise <grimace>

50s SE England Looking for ideas for a trip to India in a few monhgs

Dullmary · 25/05/2025 13:11

What a lovely thread. Bit late to the party here.

Early 50s, West Yorkshire. Currently lounging about in bed with two cats, listening to the wind and rain outside and perusing Vinted. Day 4 of antibiotics for a tooth infection, no longer want to shoot myself in the head but cba with doing much today. Adult DS is upstairs and at some point I’m going to make a lasagne.

mondaytosunday · 25/05/2025 13:31

I’m a widow (since kids were little) so on my own sitting at my dining table overlooking the garden in London. Neighbours have guests over and I can hear them chatting and kids playing.
One cat is snoozing on the table and dog is on the armchair. My eldest (21, lives away) is working a stall at a classic moped rally, my DD is at uni up north.
I’m having a lazy day just taking a break from crocheting, about to do a bit of washing up.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 25/05/2025 13:31

I’m (very) late 30s, on the North West of England. It’s DS’s 16th birthday today and we had an epic party in the garden for him last night. It was raining but we borrowed 2 brilliant gazebos and all had a brilliant time. DS had 6 16 year olds and we had our group of friends. All the lads were brilliant and polite!

Just chilling now with a brew as even though I didn’t drink that much, I didn’t stop yesterday and we didn’t get to bed til gone 2am. DH is watching the F1 build up, DS is playing his new PS5 and new Moto GP game but he’ll come down to watch the race. The dog is sleeping as he partied all night with us!

Zippedydodah · 25/05/2025 13:56

Hello everyone, I’m 71 and am currently sitting in my lovely summerhouse aka The Shed with rescue dog number 2 who’s my shadow.
It’s windy outside, the local clay pigeon club are shooting two fields away but it’s sounding awfully loud because of the wind direction.
DH is asleep in the living room with rescue dog 1 who hates shooting and loud noises- usually she’d be here with me.
Dog2 and I did a 2 hour walk this morning, she’s a game little thing, she’s gently snoring in the other chair.

SO much! Just today, I've learnt all about:

RS: Sikhism, Buhhism, Hinduism - rituals, beliefs and views on reincarnation
History: 20 key dates memorised, plus extensive research on Empires and the Industrial Revolution
Biology: Food and digestion, DNA, Nutrition
DT: Design briefs, the 6 Rs, physical and working properties of woods, fabrics and metals, CAD, CAM
In addition to that, I think I know know his drama script and answers to French and German speaking questions off by heart...

Am just heading downstairs for a LARGE Aperol Spritz... I think I've earned it! Have a wonderful evening x
