Just being nosey and quite bored 😅

So..me, mid 40’s, live abroad, sat on balcony drinking a Somersby, Dd, 7 will come up to bed in a minute and we’ll do bedtime story. I’ll probably come back on the balcony when she’s asleep. Dh going out

Anyone else? Vague age, area, plans? Sm shows me everyone is out and my road is very quiet

  1. Scrolling on sofa under blanket after a busy day helping my DS (13) revise for his upcoming Year 8 exams. Worrying I should be doing more revision notes, but quite sleepy, so will call a day on that. DS and DH are both gaming together upstairs, so I'm considering an early night. Have just had a pre-mixrd Archers and Lemonafe... rock n' roll!

Late 50's just got back from meeting a friend and having a wander round Spitalfields. About to have a Prawn Bhuna and watch some TV before turning in.

Holliegee · 24/05/2025 21:05

I’m 50, in the north west it’s a full and damp day, going dark already - I’m sat on my phone and watching tv, partner is on his computer doing work stuff - youngest son and his girlfriend have been here all
afternoon and for dinner so had a nice day.
im drinking vimto and eating grapes - I live opposite a park and there’s no children playing on it or teenagers due to the weather and the cat is snoozing beside me.
i think I’ll put my pjs on and suggest an early night !!

Noodge · 24/05/2025 21:05

Early forties. Live alone aside from my beautiful dog. Currently eating hummus and crackers and before posting this was paying invoices/doing random bits of paperwork. I have quite bad period pain and am annoyed that I have napped away some of the afternoon thus having to do it now. I'll take myself off on a date to my local shortly for a couple of wines then home to bed with my electric blanket on and the dog. How exciting.

OysterSatin · 24/05/2025 21:05

52, Ireland, waiting for friends to pick me up on the way to a gig in a little seaside venue. Bonfire on the beach afterwards. Option of staying over with a friend, and having an early swim and a harbourside sauna in the morning.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 24/05/2025 21:06

@BrunchBarBandit I hate a bad meal. 😿
@OysterSatin jealous!! Enjoy! 😺
@Noodge still chilly enough for the electric blanket?!🙀

... and baby is now, blissfully, asleep. 😇

Just back home from dinner at our local Italian. We’ve been going there about 8 years and it’s great as it’s very accessible for my elderly and wheelchair bound FIL and for my 12 year old with AFRID. We go 1 or 2 times a month.

It was not good tonight. They have clearly had a change of management and most of the staff. I spoke to the head waiter and gave some gentle feedback and it was amicable even though 3 of 5 of us left hungry as the food was inedible. They did reduce the bill and tried very hard to get us to say that we would come back but I need a reliable and consistent local restaurant and am happy to pay for it - not to accept cheaper ingredients and blatant cost savings (no Parmesan offered for example). I think they’ve tried to keep the prices the same whilst dealing with increased costs, and I get that, but I think they’ve made the wrong decisions. I feel very sad about it.

But anyway, even though I am mourning our previously lovely local restaurant I am in the kitchen with a glass of red and the dog sitting next to me, DH is playing Waterloo Sunset on the guitar in another room and the kids are playing Minecraft together upstairs. It’s nice

Backinthedress · 24/05/2025 21:07

Early 40s. DS 13 is having the world's longest shit, so I'm sitting at the kitchen table with DP doom scrolling while DD,10, keeps starting conversations about her latest obsession because her toothbrush is trapped in the bathroom with her brother and his laptop (whyyyy?!)

DP and I gonna watch a bit of telly together once she's actually gone to bed.

Arlanymor · 24/05/2025 21:07

Also mid-40s in rainy sunny Swansea Bay. Dad stayed over last night and we had a nice brunch before he left, then I went into town to get some bits and pieces, came home and had a tapas tea. Cwtched up in bed with a glass of wine and scrolling through potential holidays for November as I have not been abroad since 2018 - I think I fancy Madeira and I would melt if I tried to do it in the summer, plus gives me time to put some money aside as I am going down to four days a week in my job from June (can’t wait!). Even though it’s a bit blustery I live in the Marina so can hear waves and boat bells, it’s really quite lovely. Tomorrow I have a creative writing workshop and then drinks with friends at a local pub with live music in the afternoon. Feeling quite content to be fair.

UK based, late 30s, just come to the coast for the half term with DH and my 2 little DC.
We are usually very on it, set off early not to waste the day, and quite strict with routine! But we've done it very differently today - didn't pack until this morning, didn't give the kids lunch at all (didn't plan anything so they've just had a ton of snacks 😂) then we've spent a spontaneous evening near a beach, had our tea outside, and let the kids go to bed late!
I'm currently debating whether to have a nice hot shower or just go to bed early, very exciting I know.
Also holidays are the only time DH and I share a bed (due to snoring) so a bit nervous about how tired I'm going to be tomorrow! Must plan in a coffee shop!

Pipsquiggle · 24/05/2025 21:08

Late 40s
Berkshire
Dog asleep on my lap so I can't get a drink
DH and I watching a film
Will probably go to bed before 10pm

Kim82 · 24/05/2025 21:08

Early 40s in NW England. Dh has gone to the pub with his friend, dd17 and dd10 are both upstairs in their bedrooms. Dd10 is apparently having a virtual sleepover with a friend from dance, no idea what dd17 is doing. I’ve just sat down after hanging up a load of washing and I’m now trying to decide what to do with the rest of my evening. I poured a raspberry vodka and lemonade about 2 hours ago but it’s still sitting next to me half full and warm as I decided I wasn’t in the mood after having a few sips. Might make a hot chocolate and find something easy to watch on the tv.

JaceLancs · 24/05/2025 21:09

60+ UK based
I am sat in a pub in Lincoln just had a lovely meal
Away with DP for bank holiday weekend - doing some antiques shopping at Hemswell Cliff

Nix99 · 24/05/2025 21:09

35, having my first sit down of the day to eat Chinese and drink wine. In the midst of a house move with a newly turned 4yo and 18mo and it's intense. So much still to be done but we're getting there

11thofNever · 24/05/2025 21:09

Mid 30s, came home from work, spent over an hour tidying up, toddler DD decided she wanted a bath with all of the toys that could fit, other DC when asked to tidy their room both came down with spontaneous tummy aches. Dogs had zoomies, outside, of course, and destroyed the floor. It's a blustery evening here, and the atmosphere is damp.

Myself and husband…. 70’s and 10 yrs retired. London based. Currently at the tail end of packing the campervan for another long trip. Eurotunnel on Monday. France, Spain, Portugal then woo hoo Morocco… a new place for us. All documentation checked and ready. 3 months of adventure here we come!

LostInTheColonies · 24/05/2025 21:09

50s, other end of the world (note username 😁). Beautiful sunny but decidedly crisp morning so I’m eating a big bowl of porridge before taking the dog to the beach - tide will be out so more beach to walk on! Teen still asleep. Highly uninspiring day of sorting the house out before DParents arrive for a hol in a few days. DF hasn’t been for several years so we’re all looking forward to it.

Lest anyone thinks my life is unalloyed pleasure, I spent the day getting wet watching DS (13) play football and strongarming him into revision for his summer exams. Now he’s having a couple of friends to sleepover, but DH is on his way home from the airport and will deal!

A 13 year old in the bathroom for a long time with a laptop hmmmm nothing suspicious there...

Miffy1994 · 24/05/2025 21:14

Early 30s, NW England. Toddler DD fast asleep, after taking her on her first bike ride with us today which she was very excited about! DH on sofa watching taskmaster, I’m sat on the armchair drinking herbal tea and searching through MN for any answers/useful suggestions as to why I can’t seem to get pregnant again and have that second baby I’m so desperate for. Will give the cats their tea, then head to bed and have an early night

VQ1970 · 24/05/2025 21:15

55, widowed 3 years and sat on my sofa in Guernsey with the cat. Went out for lunch today so didn't need dinner tonight but having a coffee and just eaten 2 Biscoff biscuits. I was watching BGT but have turned the telly off and am sitting in silence. Might go to bed in a minute with my book.

I love this post! Early 40s, one son away at church camp, one teenage son asleep. Partner away, just me and cat. SE England. Watching Britain's Most Historic Towns with Alice Roberts and listening to neighbours having a party, hoping they all have a lovely time. Good quiet day of self-care.

Moll2020 · 24/05/2025 21:22

Late 50s, Wales - just made a Thai green chicken curry, sat on sofa next to Labrador who is taking up way too much room, I’m watching 1% club, house to myself as DH on night shift tonight and DC both flown the nest.
