Curious to know what opinions you see constantly on mumsnet that you think “Am I the only person that disagrees with that!?”

Blended relationships are liked by children

Living at home post 25 is okay. No. It’s a failure to launch

Only people who don’t experience food noise think it’s a load of bollox @WhoKnowsTheyKnow
come and live in my shoes for a day and you won’t say that

It’s an unpopular opinion thread so people will disagree. 😂

Probably the whole genocide thing 🍉

What do you mean by this? Please elaborate

A significant minority of ADHD/LDs cases in middle class children are actually FASD.

I agree with this. And some children with supposed ADHD are actually hypermobile and need more activity rather than being forced to sit still for extended periods of time.

Excessive screen use mimics and worsens ADHD symptoms. Some children with supposed ADHD simply need less time in front of a screen.

It is not always in the best interests of severely disabled children to continue with life-sustaining treatment.

Children’s friendships are important and it’s worth making time for play dates at the weekends.

More people should volunteer at PTA events.

Children don’t need to go to loads of extra curricular activities.

That women should be responsible for their own relationships and decisions with their MIL and not hide behind DH to manage it for them.

I agree with you!

EastEndQueen · 21/05/2025 22:17

Sleeping training works and is much better for everyone, including the baby

Formula top ups really help

Childfree weddings are naff and totally against the spirit and meaning of marriage

People are far too physically sedentary and isolated in their own homes and this is at the root of many of the country’s problems.

Affairs are much more common then you think and there should be more open discussion about the realism/ desirability of 50+ years of sexual fidelity and about how people can explore their natural desires and embrace the lifelong development of their sexuality without deception.

Enjoying a few glasses of wine does not make you an alcoholic.

Most people’s dogs are extremely badly trained

Society has forgotten how to embrace normal childhood exuberance and this drives exhausted parents to poor mental health and too much screen time

I don't understand that

SpottedDonkey · 21/05/2025 22:19

Obesity is a lifestyle choice, not a ‘disease’.

Nobody needs expensive weight loss drugs. They just need to get off their arses, take some proper exercise and accept responsibility for what they choose to put in their mouths instead of blaming anything & everyone but themselves for the fact that they are fat. And I say that as someone who lost 35kg in 18 months & kept it off.

ArtfulTaupeGoose · 21/05/2025 22:21

That woman who stay with cheating partners are not all low self esteemed pathetic little waifs, and marriages can survive depending on individual situations

That child free couples aren't missing out

That mounjaro is not the answer to all our problems

That WFH can be very productive

If you’re getting attacked when you say you want Palestine to be free they obviously don’t agree/in denial that there is in fact a genocide happening.

Mumwithbaggage · 21/05/2025 22:21

A roast chicken does not feed a family for a week.

It's OK to answer the door even if you are not expecting guests.

Some of us quite like wine without being alcoholics.

Sometimes OHs just can't change their hours to get home to bath the children. Mine couldn't especially when working in Africa!

It's OK to leave your teenage kids alone sometimes.

There are many many ways to bring up great well balanced kids.

TheBlueUniform · 21/05/2025 22:21

Breastfeeding beyond 2 is odd

They should have kept the name Asperger’s and should have different words for the level of need because someone who is non verbal and needs support in every aspect of life has a very different experience to someone who is married and holds down a job and has kids, despite all having the same diagnosis.

Some people bring on their own troubles and I have less sympathy for those people than people who have problems that are out of their control.

Dogs are animals and children are more important

elfendom · 21/05/2025 22:22

That the DIL is mostly more sided with than the MIL. (I am not a MIL), but my god MIL's get a hard time on here.
Gentle parenting ... I think it is just pure laziness, takes the least energy.
Dogs and babies and dogs taking precedence over humans and dogs never been left alone for a bit (I love dogs), dogs dictating holidays.
Cats, way too much cat love, can't trust a cat .

Sugarsnapfairy · 21/05/2025 22:23

Thegreyhound · 21/05/2025 21:07

the washing machine does not need to be on every single day
toilet brushes are fine, just don’t wave them about
being a stay at home mum is in no sense work
killing civilians is wrong
trans people are fine

I have always been a full time working mum, apart from maternity leave (which was much easier than work!) I completely agree that working is working, being a stay at home mum, is not!
And yes, I do all of the house work/life administration myself too!

Yes. I agree. It is really sad that people do not have empathy for Palestinian suffering regardless of their stance on the political terms of what is happening. The bottom line is children are dying and that is never ever ok. Humanity is no more it seems. Seems more like selective humanity and morality now.

oviraptor21 · 21/05/2025 22:26

Toilet brushes are fine but if you only ever clean your toilet with one and/or you only ever chuck a load of bleach down then your toilet won't be properly clean.

Boob or bust sizing is vanity sizing and doesn't work for smaller sizes anyway.

We need to do a lot more to understand the reasons for the explosion in ADHD diagnoses. We need to accept it as a normal characteristic and instead of medicating, look at better ways of managing behaviours and aptitudes.

In an ideal world, all children would have a SAHP (ideally shared between both parents) until they start school.

Pensioners don't need any more money.

Ruggerlass · 21/05/2025 22:27

I accept it’s probably not black and white, but each time you have sex relying on contraception there’s a risk you may get pregnant and you accept that risk.

Agree. Also supporting Palestine does not mean you’re anti-Semitic. There are plenty of Jews speaking out against the treatment of Palestine
.

It's ok as a wedding guest to wear a dress with lots of white in it..I can't believe the twist that some posters get their knickers in over this.

This is me too. It both cracks me up and perplexes me that so many people look at a pic of dress that is not white, and declare it too white to wear to a wedding, lol. Mental.

FKAT · 21/05/2025 22:31

I think most unpopular opinion threads are actually full of really basic and obvious observations that 70% of the population hold at any one time.

I also think breastfeeding is easy, better for the baby and the mother and most can do it with the right support.

Oh and I don't care about Palestine.

cadburyegg · 21/05/2025 22:33

Oh another one. Tongue tie is hugely undiagnosed and more people would breastfeed if they were given the right support but a lot of women are just given well meaning but scientifically wrong advice which ultimately ends their breastfeeding journey sooner than they wanted, then they end up blaming themselves because they “didn’t have enough milk”.

MmeChoufleur · 21/05/2025 22:33

Tradesmen are welcome to use my toilet. As are trans women.

Dogs shouldn’t be treated like humans. They are animals.

An £80K salary is high. You might not have a private jet, but even with the extra tax you pay, you cannot compare your circumstances to a person on minimum wage.

You can teach children to swim yourself. Swimming lessons aren’t compulsory, as long as they learn to swim.

Your child doesn’t need a screen to keep them quiet. They need you to engage with them. Disturbing and annoying paying customers because “you deserve a rest” is selfish, shitty behaviour.

PickANumber · 21/05/2025 22:34

When post asks for guess my age, then never bothers to say what age they are.

We are pregnant Nope, you are, your partner isn’t (never come across a post where both partners were both pregnant)

Breastfeeding posts, no issues but I do always wonder if the partner also sucks the milk out (would never ask but do wonder)

when did I conceive. Go online and find pregnancy calc

line eyes - I have to see of course. But if you have to take the contraption apart to see the line doesn’t that say something to you?

Listinggracefully · 21/05/2025 22:35

The two week embargo on visitors post birth so they can bond with their baby. Why specifically two weeks? Is some sort of bat signal sent out after 14 days to alert family that the bonding process is now complete? What happens if you have other children who have to go to school/nursery? I couldn’t wait to show off my babies and I’d have been bored shitless with just my ex for company for a fortnight.
