Curious to know what opinions you see constantly on mumsnet that you think “Am I the only person that disagrees with that!?”

I don't think you should cut family and friends off at the drop of the hat.

I think it's lovely when people visit after having a baby

Agree👆

PinkChaires · 21/05/2025 21:56

people make an absolute drama over having a child free wedding - a lot of the time its the kids that make it fun!

Thegirlinthegreenscarf · 21/05/2025 21:57

Sorry not read the thread yet 😳 but all the posts about men and how awful they are and how men are to blame for everything. Honestly it gets shoehorned into every pore of mumsnet the men hate!

TeaAndMuffins · 21/05/2025 21:57

Also, that poverty isn't an excuse for poor diet. Obesity is a cultural problem. Buying and cooking raw, healthy ingredients is much cheaper than processed convenience foods.

Define ‘certain scenarios’

Rape, abusive relationships, medical reasons either health of mother or unborn baby. Voluntarily having sex and accidentally getting pregnant is not a valid reason in my opinion.

sprigatito · 21/05/2025 21:58

I think childfree weddings are tacky and narcissistic.

I think mass, poor quality childcare for very young children is a ticking time bomb and is driving the crisis in child mental health

I think it’s really fucking weird that as a society we cherish and idolise children until they hit their teens, then suddenly turn on them and treat them like the enemy. Seeing MNers tell each other to throw out/cut off their distressed and vulnerable young adult children disgusts me.

WhoKnowsTheyKnow · 21/05/2025 21:58

It’s ok to be a second homeowner, even in Cornwall.

You don’t really love animals if you eat them.

Blended families are mostly crap for children, and often the step parent too.

Food noise is a load of bollocks.

Renabrook · 21/05/2025 21:59

Not all men are evil and not all women are saints

Berlinlover · 21/05/2025 21:59

I think age gap relationships are absolutely fine.

This is one of the weirdest aspects of MN! The MIL hatred, the insane cleaning/food prep standards, and the general overthinking and over involvement in children’s lives are not things i see reflected in real life at all

My mother in law was a total clean freak. We lived in the country and she lived in suburban London. When she visited, she would say "Up one lane and down another! Mud! Mud!! Everywhere!!!" We had a lovely donkey who used to wander in from his paddock, via the garden and into the kitchen. He did this one day when she was there. She screamed that "it will EAT the baby!!" He never did, and my son loved riding him. Our German Shepherd Dog was very closely supervised when she was anywhere near him. MIL said "That thing will tear his head off one day! Don't say that I didn't warn you!" She was such a pain that, in the end, we used to leave him with my mother and visit her in London. My son grew up to be a strapping lad and served in the British Army, doing two tours of duty in the first war in Afghanistan.

  1. You’re not on a slippery slope to being an alcoholic if you enjoy more than 2 glasses of wine per week.

  2. you should help elderly relatives as much as you can

  3. you should also help your (nice🤣) elderly neighbours too and if that means feeding their cat every day while they’re in hospital, that’s what you do!

  4. Snapchat should be banned for under 18’s

  5. it’s not ok to let your kids have days off school for anything other than illness and even then, they have to be ill, not just tired or ‘really need a rest’

  6. I’m not a bot if I don’t agree with you

NotMyRealAccount · 21/05/2025 22:02

Divorced/widowed/single mothers shouldn't wait for years before introducing their children to their new partner. The children should meet and audition prospective new partners - and any children THEY have - before the relationship becomes established. This could save wasting a lot of time on someone who isn't going to be compatible with the established family unit.

Scaredaboutthis · 21/05/2025 22:03

Only people who don’t experience food noise think it’s a load of bollox @WhoKnowsTheyKnow
come and live in my shoes for a day and you won’t say that

Crikeyalmighty · 21/05/2025 22:04

@NotMyRealAccount I kind of think that too to be honest

SpottedDonkey · 21/05/2025 22:04

Women are completely fucking batshit about weddings. Whether they are dictatorial control-freak bridezillas, nightmare bridesmaids whingeing about their outfits or entitled guests demanding special treatment and making someone else’s wedding all about themselves.

Men do it much better. Get pissed on stag. Buy new suit & get hair cut. Buy ring. Show up at venue at appointed time. Get hitched. Then get pissed again & thank fuck it’s all over.

That Palestine should be free. I seem to get attacked every time I support this which is simply bizarre.

Probably the whole genocide thing 🍉

CoalTit · 21/05/2025 22:07

Julian Assange didn't deserve what the UK justice system did to him. He was imprisoned without charge for years, and that is a very bad thing for the rest of us in the long term.

The Swedish rape charges were dropped very early on but the character assassination machine had already done its work and many mumsnet users were convinced that habeus corpus shouldn't apply in his case.

NotMyRealAccount · 21/05/2025 22:08

If you turn up at my front door unannounced I'll drop whatever I'm doing and invite you in. The coffee will be good, the cake is likely to be UPF, and if you think the house is a bit grubby the cleaning materials are under the sink.

ByShyRaven · 21/05/2025 22:09

That being trans is not a mental disorder

FloraBotticelli · 21/05/2025 22:10

Still disagree. Even if MiL is truly toxic you should still set your own boundaries and say, ‘no MIL, I shall not see you if you’re going to be horrible.’ It’s not your DH’s job to decide what’s right and wrong for you. You are a person in your own right!

Itisallabitvague · 21/05/2025 22:11

People can use whatever toilet they fucking want !!

FloraBotticelli · 21/05/2025 22:12

Oh the quote has disappeared - that was to @Pebbles16

MusicalDoc · 21/05/2025 22:12

That being trans is absolutely fine.

no one can change my mind on this, a close relative is a prominent anti trans influencer mentioned frequently on Mumsnet. She hasn’t changed my mind. You wont either.

CharlotteLightandDark · 21/05/2025 22:12

Occasional, considered recreational drug use is fun and can enhance your general wellbeing
