To have complained about today’s episode of Loose Women

WithYou47 · 15/05/2025 20:44

My DH thinks IABU but I’m adamant this was inappropriate.

Loose Women had a ‘dummy’ of a man’s bottom on their show earlier and one of the presenters/guests inserted their finger where the sun doesn’t shine.

I was eating lunch at the time and found this extremely unbecoming for that time of the day.

I expect my complaint will fall on deaf ears, but it’s worth a go.

I think OP is being slightly disingenuous. I’ve just looked up loose women on YouTube to see if they have a clip from today’s episode, and it looks like it was all male presenters (is that what they do sometimes on LW?) and there was a dr demonstrating a prostate exam. So it wasn’t giggling women poking around for a joke, it was a medical segment talking about what the prostate is and how the exam works

Edited

Thank you. A voice of reason and sanity.

My complaint stands - it didn’t need a graphic demonstration!

You have no idea what you were looking at, so how are you qualified to decide that?

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 15/05/2025 22:10

You're embarrassing yourself @WithYou47 with this ridiculous thread.

It wasn't even Loose Women, it was Loose Men, and the show was about Mens health, and to try and encourage them to check things, like their testicles, their chest, and their tongue and mouth, and they are being encouraged to get prostate exams. The finger in the fake bum was demonstrating what happens with a prostate exam.

What a nonsensical and pointless thread, fussing and complaining about nothing. 🙄

HERE is what you saw.

They don't need to feature a fake rectal examination. Seriously, an explanation is sufficient.

A demonstration definitely gets more attention/ understanding than just words so there was a reason

HRC2020 · 15/05/2025 22:13

I always wonder how terminally offended people like the OP and a small amount of the posters on here get through life.

doodleschnoodle · 15/05/2025 22:13

I remember having a crush on Craig Doyle 20+ years ago. He has aged like fine wine. 54!

Also, any male I’ve ever encountered has said something along the lines of ‘Im NoT gETtiNg a FiNgEr pUt aNywhERe nEaR mY bUtThOlE’ which means there is a huge stigma around it. So the point of the demo is likely to say - it’s not that bad and lasts less than a minute.

YANBU. Sounds like digital rape.

What

ItGhoul · 15/05/2025 22:16

Why would you assume that?

Pearl-clutchers really do reveal so much about their own repressed obsessions sometimes.

I speak as someone who actually has put my finger up a man’s bum for sexual purposes, numerous times, when I say that before I’d even read the thread, I thought “Surely they must have just been raising awareness of prostate cancer screening? It’s fine, what’s the problem?” And yet it’s the Ban This Sick Filth brigade who apparently immediately thought of the male G-spot and ‘digital rape’.

He does look good doesn’t he . I thought Charles was less stuffy than I imagined aswell . Might be an act though , it’s not easy to have 3 divorces .

GravyBoots · 15/05/2025 22:17

OP - Implies that Loose Woman sticks finger up arsehole of plastic dummy. It puts her off her lunch.
Visions formed of cackling, old yet immature women. Fair assumption.

Truth - Male medical episode outlining what happens during a prostate examination with regards to cancer.

How dull.

Complaint well received by anyone needing some light relief (not of the finger up arsehole kind).

tillyandmilly · 15/05/2025 21:04

How low can you go? Trash tv in my opinion

Yes it's an awful programme I don't think trying to educateen about prostrate cancer is "low" though.

DelectableMe · 15/05/2025 22:22

OP, seriously, why not actually double check before the outrage?

ItGhoul · 15/05/2025 22:22

WithYou47 · 15/05/2025 22:02

It does, though. Loads of men are terrified of the examination and think it’s a much bigger deal than it is, when it’s actually a really quick and painless test. Describing it isn’t a substitute for actually seeing it and knowing exactly what to expect.

Breast exams have been demonstrated many times on day time shows for exactly the same reason. It is a good thing. Don’t let your prudery / squeamishness get in the way of a really useful awareness campaign that could potentially save lives. Jeez.

PinkArt · 15/05/2025 22:22

The point of the segment, that you didn't watch but felt the need to complain about, was to show how quick, easy and unembarrassing a men's health check is.
It covered things like checking chest tissue, looking at the tongue, a back to camera testicle check and the prostate check on the false bottom. The latter took about one minute, wasn't remotely sexual or inappropriate and was included to help encourage men to get over any embarrassment and go for a simple, potentially life saving test.
Don't miss the opportunity to pearl clutch about something you completely missed the point of though.

Interested to know if the OP has had a close, young male relative go through cancer treatment? I have and im so thankful they chose to ignore any feelings of embarrassment (which no one should ever have as we all have bodies) and go to the GP. They are here today because they made their appointment.

I imagine the staff at Loose Women agreed the tiny risk of putting off a few people (who can’t cope with a bum) was worth it to save lives and make an impact.

I hope someones booking an appointment today they put off because of this show…

JoyousEagle · 15/05/2025 22:24

Gymnopedie · 15/05/2025 21:13

The programme was Loose Men's Health Clinic. The doctor was Amir Khan. Apparently he also gave Craig Doyle a testicle examination (with Craig's back to the camera).

The whole programme was based on asking why men are so reluctant to see a doctor.

I seem to remember This Morning (or good morning Britain maybe) doing a segment where they showed a dr checking the testicles of a man facing the camera, just holding his penis in his hand to the side so it couldn’t be seen, but testicles fully visible.

OP would’ve needed smelling salts.

And to add to your reply @PinkArt its reactions like these that contribute to that embarrassment.

I think that was Chris Hughes from Love Island/the latest CBB getting his checked! I remember that too.

Exactly, seeing a doctor doing a demo normalises it

doodleschnoodle · 15/05/2025 22:28

OP is clearly on the wind up as it’s very clear from the clip that it’s showing a medical procedure. Even if you were channel hopping and joined halfway through it‘s obvious so the faux ‘Well I didn’t know that’s what it was’ is totally shite. It even has a banner at the bottom the whole time saying ‘prostate exam’. Come on.

GravyBoatWars · 15/05/2025 22:28

I assumed it was a sexual discussion and they were demonstrating a prostate massage for sexual purposes.

Goodness, OP. You see a clip with a doctor - wearing an exam glove - explaining a medical exam with a clear banner across the screen indicating that the segment is explaining what happens in a prostate exam as part of a health clinic topic and you start thinking of sex acts? This preoccupation seems like maybe something to discuss in therapy instead of trying to make it someone else's problem.
