Why is Alice Evans Gruffudd homeless?

Doesn’t she have any famous friends? Where has all her money gone? Does she have to live in L.A? It just all seems bizarre, just move somewhere cheaper.

I think she has mental health issues.
I wouldn't be surprised if you (she) made an attempt to take her own life going ahead.

Funny you should say that because I was reminded of Virginia Guiffre - I know it is a very different case, i get that - but the stunt with the car accident and the claim that she was near to death with bruised images etc which was proven to be false - is the kind of desperation and attention seeking thing/cry for help whatever you want to call it - that I could see AE attempting in order to claw back control and public sympathy etc.

VG was also subject to a restraining order for violent behaviour...

WatchAnXFilesWithNoLightsOn · 15/05/2025 12:36

@Kbroughton But you are assuming Alice Evan’s is as reasonable as you are! What you did was absolutely the right thing to do and probably difficult to swallow! But you did it to facilitate a relationship between your child and their father as you are a good mother. AE did the opposite and blocked him at every corner even before Bianca came on the scene. Again, these are all evidenced. He took her to court multiple times where she was forced to adhere to custody arrangements but by that time she had completely warped the children and turned them against him

I am not sure why you are being so aggressive. Its just my opinion. I think he should have found a way to have quality time with his children prior to moving in with his new relationship, if that meant additional costs for a short period of time, then yes. My ExH moved out of our town, and as my daughter refused to be alone in the car with him, I sent 18 months travelling a 3 hour round trip once a week for my daughter to spend exactly one hour with him, sitting in a cafe round the corner while they did various activities because they couldnt go home as the new partner was in the house! Did I want to do that? No. Could I afford to do that? Not really. Having seen the devastating effect on my own daughter due to this exact situation, and that is with me not being mentally ill and difficult, I would recommend to any parent that they move heaven and earth to not allow children to pay for a situation that the adults made. My child and my ExHs new partner get on all right now, and I think that is, in large part, because of me.

I’m sorry your ex husband behaved badly but I’m not being ‘aggressive’, I’m just not agreeing with you.

By the sound of it, you are exactly the sort of person Alice targets in her money making scams - someone who has actually been treated badly by an ex and who is naturally sympathetic to someone (falsely) claiming the same.

Alice is very good at her ‘woe is me, I’m a victim of my evil ex and his mistress’ routine (once she found out about Bianca and stopped insinuating Ioan is gay, that is). There is a lot of information online where, even based on what Alice has had to accept in court, it’s clear Ioan has been the victim of abuse for a long time. I don’t think it’s fair to start policing whether he picked the perfect way to escape his abuser.

Kbroughton · 15/05/2025 12:39

Notatallanamechange · 15/05/2025 12:32

I agree with quite a bit of this. But you’re missing a rather large chunk of what’s been the devastating affect on the children: their mothers sustained behaviour for almost four years.

No I am not. I have said several times around the fact that she is mentally ill and extremely difficult. The majority of the thread focus is entirely on her. I am commenting on him. I am sure it has had a devastating impact on him, but he is an adult not a child. He has a degree of control that a child does not. He can get counselling and work things through on his own, a child cannot. It is entirely because of the terrible behaviour on her part, that I think he should have not moved in with his new relationship in the way that he did. It's just my opinion based on my own experience. My ExH was an emotionally abusive manipulator. He had access to all bank accounts, separated me from my friends and family, told me I was useless, and had many many affairs. That had a devastating impact on me, and I still did my best to put my child first. My only point is, that neither Ioan or Alice appear to have acted in the best interest of the children, and while both may have their reasons (she potentially an abusive mentally ill manipulator and him potentially the abused), for me that fact remains the most poignant.

But so short sighted, because if he doesn’t earn then he can’t pay maintenance.

She doesn't care, her aim in all this is to destroy Ioan and Bianca. She knows that by doing this she will also destroy herself and the girls.

She seems to have decided to make it her life's work to punish him for daring to leave her. Even though, before he left, she was saying that she despised him, criticising his looks, his lack of political opinions, and saying that she was going to get the girls a new father. Poor guy.

This is the sort of person she is. She will not stop untill he is ruined. Unless she is somehow prevented. It's an absolute tragedy for the daughters because she is willing to take them down with her. It's truly chilling.

No I am not. I am saying Ioan should have been as reasonable as I have been. I see myself as Ioan and Alice as my ExH. My ExH was an emotionally abusive manipulator, example: having loud phone sex in the house in the 4 weeks we were separated but still living together, denying me access to bank accounts and giving me an allowance despite me being the higher earner, having multiple affairs, separating me from my family and friends, telling me I was useless and no one would want me. All of which had a terirble effect on my mental well being. I moved heaven and earth to not have how I felt impact my child. My original point stands: they both made mistakes and neither put the children first for their own reasons.

Well since Bianca was paying the rent and all his money was going to pay for the home Alice and the children were living in (all verified in court documents) fairly hard. Or are you suggesting Bianca should have been paying for two properties?

Of course he could have forced an immediate sale of the matrimonial home, but I’m fairly sure he would then be criticised for ‘throwing his children out of their home’ in exactly the way Alice is doing now.

Oh come on. He could have rented somewhere for a short period of time and focused on his girls. Many do this with a lot less.

Alice seems unstable and he seems selfish. Poor daughters, they’ll have no life at all

I’m a supporter of SAHMs but she was a SAHM with a nanny! So she was essentially a lady of leisure and his income wasn’t that secure as he has had some good roles but not consistently. So should he just hand over more money to her because she’s been too lazy to work? She had a nanny for the kids who only left recently apparently, so she doesn’t really have an excuse…

I saw him give an interview once where he said that the deal between them was that she gave up her acting career to advance his. So her being a SAHM was as much for his benefit as the children's. Many women - let alone those living in Hollywood - have nannys. No matter how awful people may think she is he does owe her some kind of compensation for that sacrifice, just as would any ordinary non-star person.

I have repeatedly said I believe she has very serious mental helath issues and has behaved and is behaving appallingly. But people behaving appallingly I dont think means that you have a get out of jail free card. Ioan didnt put his children first in my opinion. That's all my point is. Do you think Ioan put his children first? Just yes or no.

She’s alienated the kids from their dad and has been so abusive towards him and his wife that he’d probably he relieved there was that much distance between them.

I really hope those girls reconnect with their dad at some point. I’m sure he isn’t without his faults but he would probably be able to offer them stability- definitely more so than their abusive, mentally unstable mother seems to. I can only imagine the constant anxiety she causes them with her antics. They seem to have no one but her because she’s estranged from her own family and they no longer have contact with their dad’s family.

This is pretty much what happened with my family. My father cheated, my mother went absolutely insane (turns out she’s schizophrenic and has only been diagnosed in her 50s) for about 2 decades - I’d say only in the last 5 years she’s truly moved on. We didn’t have any (or very little) contact with my father’s side and almost none neither with my mum’s side because she’s always falling out with someone.

Eventually in my 20s I decided to reach out because I wanted DD to have more family connections after her dad died. My father isn’t perfect by any means but he’s been an amazing grandfather and frankly, his family is lovely and supportive. DD loves visiting them.

I hope these children one day grow up to make their own decisions, it’s a very unhealthy environment and they’ll grow up with a lot of trauma.

That’s fair enough, if he accepted that deal then that’s entirely different and I understand her position on that.

However, she is still more than able to get a job now to support herself. True, it may not be the job she wants and that’s not great if she walked away from her career, but they aren’t together now and she has to do what she can. I don’t understand having a nanny if you aren’t working to be honest, I don’t get what the point is and I’ve never met a single person who does this, but you state that ‘many’ families do, so maybe that’s true.

Equally, if she hadn’t abused him then maybe they would still be a family and her situation would be secure.

It's weird how fiercely women on here defend him. And how quick they are to believe him. It just shows the amazing power of being a handsome (to some) Hollywood B lister.

Again, manipulation. As I mentioned earlier, she worked when the girls were young. Unfortunately she’s just not a great actress and didn’t get roles. So then it changed to her being a SAHM, then it changed to her being ill.

He’ll have had it drilled into him that was the narrative, because otherwise she would have to admit she couldn’t make it as an actress.

As an aside, I think it’s appalling her hatred of her ex is clearly stronger than her love for her children. That’s the only possible way they are in this situation.

I agree in that when I first saw the reports of the court actions (and I have by no means read as much about this as some posters!) which talked about his daughter assaulting Bianca on a visit, I did think I'd personally not have brought her into what appears to have been a very fragile situation all round at that point. For anyone's sake.

I’m not attracted to him in the slightest, I defend him based on the evidence put forward in court and on her own social media accounts that show she abused him. It’s nothing to do with his looks, I think she is a beautiful woman, that hasn’t stopped me acknowledging that she is abusive.

I find that point of view extremely patronising. You think women can’t come to their own conclusions based upon evidence? Instead they have to be blindsided by his face? How ridiculous.

What a weird choice to post this shitty comment on a poster sharing her story of her abusive marriage..

Imonlyhappywhenitrains · 15/05/2025 12:55

Anyone remember the old, old IMDB comments boards? I'm talking fifteen + years ago? I remember - literally decades ago - seeing a thread on Ioan's page where someone claiming to be AE was going hard on a poster who was criticising his choice of partner. I remember thinking LOL as if it's her! As if anyone that famous would be getting into ongoing arguments with randoms on the internet! - this was back when internet was something you whiled away an hour or two on if you were young and bored, rather than lived your life via like today. Looking at the AE of the last few years, now I think it very likely that it was her. 😬😂

I don't think the judges in the numerous court cases who have considered and accepted his evidence were in any way swayed by the way he looks.

I’m not particularly a fan, never really watched anything of his. Why assume it’s because we’re fans and not because of Alice’s determination to keep the spotlight on their divorce? That’s why it’s so discussed…

Cakeandusername · 15/05/2025 13:00

It may well have been their deal at time to be sahm as it suited their family but presumably that would have been revisited anyway as the girls grew.
He left and her default seems to be he should support me forever in manner accustomed to which isn’t the legal position.
He fully supported for 2 years and she was still showing no signs of a job or any reasonable negotiations so court decision to sell house, split assets. Court issued a legal warning to her that she couldn’t rely on spousal/needed to take reasonable steps which is a pretty clear indication her behaviour was well outside acceptable norm.
Those 2 years were chance to retrain, find a job whilst supported financially by ex.

I don't believe him.

I believe HER.

Unfortunately, by her own actions and behaviour, she has revealed herself to be an unstable, narcissistic, abusive, work-shy, slandering, pathologically self-absorbed person and utterly unfit to parent.

The only part of what HE says I take as read are either documented evidence accepted by the court OR those elements substantiated by HER conduct - namely, that she told him would never let him go and would ruin his life if he ever tried to leave her.

SHE is the one who claims he was (literally) crying down the phone in Welsh to his parents about how bad the marriage whilst they were still together. She admits he told her he was unhappy in the marriage some time before they split.

She had fair warning. She apparently just didn't think he'd ever go through with it.

I think it’s hard to judge this as the girls and he were having therapy together and a chaperone was present for the visit. I can’t imagine that this was just sprung on the them or that they were not ok/in agreement with meeting her. It would have all been carefully planned.

What we do know is that Alice has lied, bullied and threatened them and Ioan to get what she wants. The girls would have known that she wasn’t happy (likely raging) about Bianca being introduced to them, she probably made them feel awful so they then turned the visit into a shitshow to make her happy and be rewarded with praise and love.

we’ll never know what really went on, but that’s my feeling on it. Victims will do anything to try and please/keep an abuser onside.
