Husband uses my towel!!

Am I being unreasonable to think DH should use his own towel when showering/bathing?

We hang our towels on the back on the back of our bedroom door, my towel is usually pink or purple as I bought them for me and my daughter when we lived together, just us two, a girls house. DH’s towel is usually blue or green, from his house when he lived by himself!

I’m suffering tonight with cramps and back pain and it may be because it’s TOTM but DH had a shower and then came downstairs with my pink towel around his waist and it really annoyed me!! I’ve told him so many times to use his own towel. Tonight he just said in his nonchalant male tone “sorry I just grabbed the first one I saw!!”. He just doesn’t seem to get it. I only changed the towels this weekend and now he has used both of ours, so I’m going to have to get another clean towel tomorrow morning!

YABU - get yourself some chocolate and get over it he is your husband!

YANBU - he should be more understanding, send him out to get you chocolate!

My partner does the same, it used to really annoy me but I'm over it now. He's clean when he uses it and there's always two towels out so I just use the dry one. They are probably washed more regularly than they would be if we used our own.

@WhySoManySocks he hung his towel up in the bathroom once and he “forgot” where his towel was the last time he used my towel, so I made sure that when I brushed my teeth I left a toothpaste mark on his towel to show my annoyance!

I don't think I have ever used a towel after a shower. On goes the bath robe, I potter about for a few minutes and I am magically dry. DH doesn't use my robe, nor I his, so we are all good.

Mine does this and it gives me the RAGE! I get out of the shower to a cold damp towel instead of a lovely dry fluffy one. He thinks I’m being precious but it ruins my shower either before (if I have to make an unnecessary trip to the utility when I just want to crack on) or after (when I have to dry off with a manky towel)!

We each have our own but I would imagine the wrong one gets used on occasion and no one's died yet. The kids have about 12 each as far as I can tell. No idea who's using what in there when everyone's home.

Heated towel bars are the invention of the gods, however. Ours seem to dry in about 15 minutes.

We also keep a stack of fresh towels in the bathroom, so it would be unusual not to be able to just grab a clean one.

I would rather walk to the airing cupboard naked and dripping from the shower than use my DP's towel!! And I would hate it if he used mine. You're not BU at all OP.

Where is the voting option for this wouldn't bother me at all, but send him out for chocolate anyway?
I genuinely don't see an issue with sharing a towel with a spouse. But if he knows you don't like it, he could be more considerate of your preference and get you chocolate as an apology.

I’m with you weird ones. Been married nearly 40 years brought up 2 kids and have survived sharing towels. No nasty diseases or ill health, so must just be the lucky few.

God these constant towel threads are tedious, must be the 5th this week.

We only use each towel once and then wash it, so we don't have our own personal towels, I was confused as to why it mattered so much which he used. I actually didn't know that some people didn't wash them every time, now I think I've been doing far too much laundry 😂

Surely couples have more than two towels per household, anyway. I live alone and have about a dozen bath towels.

Hang his towel on top of yours? He would then have to grab his own. If he didn't then it would be deliberately using yours to piss you off.

I do perform fellatio and I'm a swallower, but I'd also be slightly irritated if DH used my towel.

What about drying in-between your toes though, and other areas that need properly drying? Do you dry them on your robe?

I think everyone should use their own bath/shower towels. I think DH wouldn't mind sharing so his towel is easy to find, on the back of the bathroom door. Mine dries on the bedroom radiator. I have to remember to take it to the bathroom but it's a small price to pay.

I wonder if the men people who think it doesn't matter which towel they use would notice if they were left with a damp one?

@TheChosenTwo my own bedroom and bathroom is my idea of heaven!! My DH snores ridiculously and is messy, plus sharing a bathroom with 3 males (him and DS22 and DS25) is no fun! I just want nice towels, candles etc etc. 😂
