Husband uses my towel!!

ExhaustedPigeon37 · 13/05/2025 21:45

Exactly that!

Am I being unreasonable to think DH should use his own towel when showering/bathing?

We hang our towels on the back on the back of our bedroom door, my towel is usually pink or purple as I bought them for me and my daughter when we lived together, just us two, a girls house. DH’s towel is usually blue or green, from his house when he lived by himself!

I’m suffering tonight with cramps and back pain and it may be because it’s TOTM but DH had a shower and then came downstairs with my pink towel around his waist and it really annoyed me!! I’ve told him so many times to use his own towel. Tonight he just said in his nonchalant male tone “sorry I just grabbed the first one I saw!!”. He just doesn’t seem to get it. I only changed the towels this weekend and now he has used both of ours, so I’m going to have to get another clean towel tomorrow morning!

YABU - get yourself some chocolate and get over it he is your husband!

YANBU - he should be more understanding, send him out to get you chocolate!

“Sorry DH I needed to pay £300 for something and used your credit card as I just grabbed the first one I saw” 🤣

Yeah that would be fine here too! Towels, money, credit cards, cars.
It was the same in the home I grew up in. I've never had any skin condition related to towel sharing and neither have any family members.

Stickortwigs · 13/05/2025 21:58

Couples have separate towels?!

Yep.
I like my towel to be dry. DH used to shower in the morning and leave a damp towel that wouldn't dry because he didn't hang it up properly. Then he'd use mine in the evening because it was dry, leaving me the choice of a damp-all-day towel or a newly-damp towel.

Shit was lost. Lessons were given in How Hang Up A Towel. He hasn't touched my towel in years.

RhaenysRocks · 13/05/2025 21:48

Don't be ludicrous. You let him ejaculate inside you, I imagine you put your mouth on his genitals.. he's just come out of a shower and is clean. What on earth is the issue?

I don’t want to dry my face on a towel that DH has dried his balls and ass on, no matter how freshly washed the area may be

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 13/05/2025 22:32

A towel is a towel!

Exactly what I was about to say. Maybe @RhaenysRocks is into that though.

Redpeach · 13/05/2025 22:33

ExhaustedPigeon37 · 13/05/2025 21:56

The issue is his towel is next to mine. It doesn’t take a lot to pick his own! Also I have to be up earlier than him to go to work in the morning and my towel won’t now be dry by the morning. It’s not about cleanliness, it’s about his thought process!

And your thought process

Babyboomtastic · 13/05/2025 22:35

Can't you just use his towel tomorrow?

I don't get the issue, aside from doing something he knew would annoy you.

But we are a family of towel sharers.

Ditto, but there’s another thread running right now where this opinion is considered outrageously OCD! 😆

Anyone who believes a light sluice in the bath makes those areas “clean” is being rather optimistic! To be honest though my DP could autoclave himself in the shower and I still wouldn’t really want to rub my face on a towel where he’d been drying his arse crack.

ShortyShorts · 13/05/2025 22:01

What on earth does chocolate have to do with anything?

Or are you saying you're in a mood because 'period' and not actually because he used your towel? 🙄

Just a bit of fun! But it annoyed me more tonight than it has done in the past, probably because I’m more tetchy today but he knows it’s annoyed me in the past!

If you washed your towels every ten minutes like a proper Mumsnetter you wouldn't have this problem.

I wash mine after every use.
Clean towel every time i use one.

Edited

😂😂😂 I’m more than happy to be outrageously OCD for this matter!!

You could use his dry one.

Personally, I think it's a non issue especially when there is intimacy between a couple and they share a bed.

SandAndSea · 13/05/2025 22:40

No one else's opinion on this matters, OP. If its an issue for you, it's an issue. I would make a gentle/fun rule up about it and just tell him it's one of your weird things. We've all got them.

Beachlovingirl · 13/05/2025 22:40

@nyancatdays exactly this. I see my husband fresh out of the shower with a towel and he gets right in that arse crevice 😅
I do not want my towel to go near that.

Beachlovingirl · 13/05/2025 21:48

That would really annoy me too OP because it’s not hard just to reach for your own towel is it? My husband washes his hands in our bathroom and instead of using the provided hand towel uses my large bath towel that is hung on the bathroom door. When I use my towel it’s always got lots of wet patches!

I passively aggressively wipe my hands on my husband’s towel if he’s been SUPER annoying.

ExtraOnions · 13/05/2025 22:43

Do people only have one towel per person, we have a big stack in the bathroom, and you just take the next one.

LoveWine123 · 13/05/2025 22:45

Leave the bastard.

ExhaustedPigeon37 · 13/05/2025 22:46

@ExtraOnions one large shower towel per person per week. Extras are kept in the airing cupboard but usually only swapped when the others are left on the floor (teenage daughter) or mine is used by my DH. I’m sure there are other reasons why they are swapped but I can’t think off the top of my head

FatLarrysBanned · 13/05/2025 22:47

We share towels with gay abandon in this house. We also both sleep naked, have sex and don't change the sheets every day! 😱

RhaenysRocks · 13/05/2025 22:47

SpunkySquid · 13/05/2025 22:32

Exactly what I was about to say. Maybe @RhaenysRocks is into that though.

🤣 no, I just don't get how you can be so freaked out by your sexual partner's clean skin touching a piece of fabric. I get the wet / damp thing I guess but in my household, there are loads of towels around the place, you just grab the nearest dry one. I've been on MN forever and am genuinely weirded out by how precious and OTT sone people are about all things laundry related. My household is one of the least prone to illness of any kind that I know and we have standards that many on here would consider shockingly lax.

BeanQuisine · 13/05/2025 22:48

I'm surprised that people make do with just one towel after a shower. I always use two, even if I don't wash my hair.

mumzof4x · 13/05/2025 22:50

I put two large clean towels in all the bathrooms every Friday
more clean in the towel cupboard for anyone who wants more
DH I don’t have separate towels . They are used to dry ourselves straight out of the shower fgs !

Ace56 · 13/05/2025 22:51

This would annoy me, not for hygiene reasons but because what if you wanted to shower shortly after him? Then your towel would be wet! It’s annoying.

RhaenysRocks · 13/05/2025 22:53

@Ace56 but then you just use a different one. What's so special about a particular towel?
