Every shopping result when I search for something on Google is bloody SHEIN. I’ve never shopped there in my puff!

“light summer shirts”

SHEIN SHEIN SHEIN SHEIN SHEIN plus a few other obviously bullshit Chinese companies just to spice things up a bit.

Fuck sake.

The -shein seems to work by not bringing up the website but every sponsored item at the top of the page with a photo is that cheap tat.

Bailiwitch · 13/05/2025 22:01

It would never occur to me to google ‘light summer shirt’. Google isn’t (yet) a stylist. If I want a particular item I browse a few of the most likely of the hundred odd sites saved on my screen. I’m absolutely not open to being shown random crap.

Klozza · 13/05/2025 22:02

EveryOtherNameTaken · 13/05/2025 21:29

I get Temu too. Gets right on my pip.

Ugh yes, every single time I look for something online 90% of the results are bloody Temu. I’ve tried blocking the site etc but the adverts and search results still come up in Google for it 🙃

Goatblu · 13/05/2025 22:02

BoarBrush · 13/05/2025 21:51

Click the 3 dots above the results adverts, then click on the seller you don't like and click block. Easy.

Genius! Thank you

You realise that’s only possible because they use slave labour? Someone has had to pay for your glut of cheapo dresses.

Even global 'reputable' organisations such as Kelloggs, Unilever and Nestlé have all reportedly been found to have used products and ingredients produced by child workers, often in dangerous conditions.
These organisations produce multiple brands. People need to think again before they believe they are making 'ethical' choices when shopping. There is a lot of work to be done across the globe.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 13/05/2025 21:31

Type <blue lace top -SHEIN> and that'll exclude them from the results.

You can calm down now. Have a cuppa.

I had no idea this was a thing! Genuinely thank you for posting this

Expensivecoffee · 13/05/2025 22:04

I shop on temu a lot.

OMG - thank you! Had no idea how to do this. Every day’s a school day on MN 😂

ForHeartyPeachOtter · 13/05/2025 22:05

Shein have also ruined Vinted. Every other item on there is Shein crap. Also our local charity shops are stuffed with fast fashion polyester. It’s depressing.

Depressing is exactly the word. I used to love Etsy. It’s gross now. Everything is infected. I remember what Amazon and EBay used to be like.

A good start would be not to fucking shop at SHEIN though.

It's shit
I saw an actual shein shop on holiday and went in out of curiosity really. My instinct was right. It's was full of horrid material. Badly sewn misfired garments that looked like a primark ten year old jumble sale deal. Just awful.

I’m struggling to find what I’m looking for. I have trawled the usual sites and back in the good old days you could use Google to find inspiration and that led to discovering clothing companies you haven’t tried before.

I had no idea there were actual SHEIN shops! Coming soon to a shopping centre near you now I guess

'Never shopped there in my puff!' is my new favourite phrase and comes with just the right amount of annoyed frustration 😁

FumingTRex · 13/05/2025 21:40

Look - why are they selling me fishing bait?

They recommended me "something to go with my recent purchase" - some socks..it was some kind of heavy duty nail gun.

ArtTheClown · 13/05/2025 22:14

What man doesn't need the "Manfinity Homme" trousers though. 😂😂

Profhilodisaster · 13/05/2025 22:23

I'd like to buy things from places that I've not heard of so don't know to google them iyswim .
So, if I want say a pair of linen trousers , I type linen trousers into the search bar, how do I get different websites to appear?

PuppiesProzacProsecco · 13/05/2025 22:24

I have the bloody opposite problem. I get way out of my price range Wolf & Badger, Ralph Lauren and lots of horrifically expensive brands I've never even heard of. £4k for dress anyone? And usually the things they're showing me are absolutely beautiful and I want them goddamit.

HiCandles · 13/05/2025 22:26

Itseatingmeup · 13/05/2025 21:28

Yep. Hate it too. Why can't you block it? Would never buy from them.

Likewise. Everything I search, first few links are Shein and Temu. It's mass produced unethical crap, and I don't trust the sites not to steal my information too. Would never buy from them.

Loki64 · 13/05/2025 22:29

I wouldn't buy from shein either and they constantly come up when searching!!!

I only ever buy from www.goose-island.co.uk now, they do brilliant lives on facebook and also a private facebook page where other customers post about their outfits from there, ive made lots of friends from the group. Things places like shein could never offer.
