Have I just been thrown out of GP Practice?

Madmay25 · 13/05/2025 16:14

Long story short. Transferred ( no choice) to new GP Practice when my previous Practice closed. I had been very happy there.
The new Practice was very disappointing in several ways which led me to make several written complaints about GPs, Nurses, etc. The Practice did respond in writing to these complaints.

However, my latest complaint led to me now being advised that the Practice can arrange for me to move to a different Practice. This move would not otherwise be possible due to local GP pressures.

Is this the same as being kicked out? Should I agree to move elsewhere ? Worried it might be worse!
Do you think I am being unreasonable...complaining / expecting too much?
😕

Well that very much depends on what you are complaining about, surely?

craigth162 · 13/05/2025 16:16

Did the practice agree your complaints were justified?

Honestly I'd move...you obviously don't rate them

WomenInSTEM · 13/05/2025 16:16

It sounds like you'll be happier elsewhere.

legsekeven · 13/05/2025 16:16

Sounds Like it. If you have had to make so many complaints it’s probably going to be better for you

DoNoTakeNo · 13/05/2025 16:16

Well it depends on the reasons for your complaints & how you treated the surgery staff.

Star81 · 13/05/2025 16:17

If your that unhappy with the current place to the point that have had to make several complaints why would you want to stay there ? They obviously realise that they can’t give you the service you require so it’s surely the obvious solution ?

Mareleine · 13/05/2025 16:17

Obviously you don't like the practice, they're now fed up of your persistent complaints, so take the move and make a note to stop complaining so much about everything at the new place. Complaints about so many different practitioners at the same practice suggest this is a you problem.

NerrSnerr · 13/05/2025 16:17

It really does depend what you’re complaining about.

FelicityBennett · 13/05/2025 16:19

It doesn’t sound the same as being removed as usually you’d either get a letter giving you 30 days to find a new GP or an immediate removal in cases of violence
it isn’t possible to say if you’re being unreasonable as no examples but you are free to complain if you don’t feel that you have been treated correctly
It may be that they are not the right practice to meet your needs or they feel that the doctor patient relationship is beyond repair . In some small practices there may not be other clinical staff to see .

Golidlocksandthethreeswears · 13/05/2025 16:20

If you've made that many complaints, and it's not possible to currently move but they're able to help with that, override that local policy if you like, why would you not want them to do that? Seems like it would resolve things for both parties.

I do wonder if you're in the same town as me. The locals practice are taking a hard line now on people bad mouthing them on social media etc. too

unbelieveable22 · 13/05/2025 16:20

You said you have made several written complaints about various practitioners which indicates you are unhappy with the level of care across the practice. If that is true then why would it be unreasonable to suggest you move to another practice? Seems reasonable to me.

LeroyJenkinssss · 13/05/2025 16:22

youve not been kicked out but they are happy to facilitate transfer. Why do you mind - you obviously have multiple issues with them.

faerietales · 13/05/2025 16:24

What are you complaining about?

TeenToTwenties · 13/05/2025 16:26

Sounds like a 'managed move' in school speak.
If you are unhappy enough to have made multiple complaints I'd take the move. The next step might be permanent exclusion otherwise.

Charlotte120221 · 13/05/2025 16:26

honestly, several written complaints is very unusual. of course they have replied - they are following their procedures.

But yes they are getting sick of you now! your complaints have obviously reached their threshold for the next stage of their procedure.

You're not happy and they are trying to move you on before activating their vexatious complaints policy. I'd go before I was pushed - and try not to complain so much next time???

purpleme12 · 13/05/2025 16:27

If you've had that many complaints and they've said that then yes I'd go to another practice

Snoken · 13/05/2025 16:27

It sounds like you have complained about every aspect of the clinic multiple times. If they have a lot of patients who aren't constantly complaining then maybe you need to manage your own expectations as you probably won't be happy anywhere that isn't your original GP.

Cynic17 · 13/05/2025 16:27

Anyone making "several written complaints" sounds like an utter nightmare, and I'm not surprised that they want to move you on, OP. Maybe think about how you interact with busy professional services?

Xiaoxiong · 13/05/2025 16:28

I think they're trying to be nice and help you find a new practice in a managed move, rather than just kicking you out and leaving you with no GP at all.

If you're not happy with them, I don't see why you wouldn't welcome this.

Banmooo · 13/05/2025 16:30

You can't refuse to move, they're telling you they no longer want to treat you, which they are allowed to do.
But if you think your complaints are justified, why would you not want to move?

Allthegoodhorses · 13/05/2025 16:31

How many complaints is several OP? 3/4/5? Anyone making that many complaints about GP's and nurses quite rightly need to be moved on. I would seriously consider how you behave when you get a new surgery.

cakeisallyouneed · 13/05/2025 16:31

It also depends on the outcome of your complaints. If they are things that the surgery can’t change or improve for what ever reason then offering you a transfer may be the only way they can successfully resolve the issues for you.

CaptainFuture · 13/05/2025 16:32

You don't seem happy with the multiple complaints, why do you want to remain there?

steff13 · 13/05/2025 16:33

You said your "latest complaint." How many complaints have there been?

ETA: there's no way to know if you're being unreasonable unless we know what you're complaining about but it sounds like, regardless, it's not a good fit.

ItGhoul · 13/05/2025 16:33

If you repeatedly complain about a service, you clearly aren't happy with it, so it's not really unreasonable of them to suggest you go elsewhere. There's only so much time they can devote to handling multiple complaints from one person, especially if that person keeps coming back for more.

They haven't removed you, but it's perfectly reasonable and sensible to suggest that if you aren't happy with the service you should go elsewhere.

'Several written complaints' about a number of different staff makes we wonder if you meet the definition of a vexatious complainant. I've had to deal with people before who repeatedly complain about every aspect of a service (not medical) and eventually, when every complaint is investigated and none of them are ever found to be reasonable, there's usually a process whereby you can refuse to engage with them any further because their complaints are just a big waste of time and resources.
