Have I just been thrown out of GP Practice?

Long story short. Transferred ( no choice) to new GP Practice when my previous Practice closed. I had been very happy there.
The new Practice was very disappointing in several ways which led me to make several written complaints about GPs, Nurses, etc. The Practice did respond in writing to these complaints.

However, my latest complaint led to me now being advised that the Practice can arrange for me to move to a different Practice. This move would not otherwise be possible due to local GP pressures.

Is this the same as being kicked out? Should I agree to move elsewhere ? Worried it might be worse!
Do you think I am being unreasonable...complaining / expecting too much?
😕

You're serially complaining about them, so why on earth would you want to be registered with them?

NamelessNancy · 13/05/2025 18:32

Blushingm · 13/05/2025 18:20

Depends on your complaints and whether they were justified or if you were being horrible/offensive

Justified or not may be very subjective though. I have no doubt that OP felt they were justified when she composed her written complaints. There is a chance the practice would vehemently disagree. What other posters on here would think? Who knows. Ultimately once in the realm of multiple complaints it's all about the loss of trust and breakdown of the relationship regardless. OP should find a new practice she gels with better.

Wow, thanks for so many quick responses. First time posting here.

It seems I am being unreasonable. Just cannot stop complaining..it's like a compulsion.
I will move on now..and try not to complain.

Do you get a wee dopamine hit with every individual complaint or it more like an overall glow of satisfaction?

EffortlesslyInelegant · 13/05/2025 18:37

Your card will be marked with any new surgery so now is probably a very good time to have a word with yourself and find a new hobby.

Sounds like a 'managed move' in school speak.
If you are unhappy enough to have made multiple complaints I'd take the move. The next step might be permanent exclusion otherwise.

This.
I have heard of patients being removed from a GP practice completely with no offer of an alternative to transfer to so they were pretty much on their own.
Accept the transfer, you are clearly not happy with your current GP

PoopingAllTheWay · 13/05/2025 18:43

NerrSnerr · 13/05/2025 17:20

No necessarily. Most GP surgeries have catchment areas. There is only one GP surgery I’m able to use because of this.

The surgery has said she can move elsewhere
There is an option in her case

CactusSammy · 13/05/2025 18:47

Clearly you're not happy with the service you are receiving, so why would you not want to accept the offer of moving to a different practice?

It never ceases to amaze me, the number of people who constantly criticise and complain about their GP practices, yet are horrified at the thought of going elsewhere.

Well that very much depends on what you are complaining about surely?

You haven’t given enough info for anyone to determine if you’re reasonable or not to have complained.

lovemycbf · 13/05/2025 18:53

Mareleine · 13/05/2025 16:17

Obviously you don't like the practice, they're now fed up of your persistent complaints, so take the move and make a note to stop complaining so much about everything at the new place. Complaints about so many different practitioners at the same practice suggest this is a you problem.

Totally agree with this
if you’re not happy then move on elsewhere and stop complaining

I almost made a formal complaint about my new practice after they made a catalogue of errors - including using receptionists to give out medical advice!!! Which was outright dangerous.

In the end, I wrote out my complaints to the practice manager and then called up and changed GPs to another practice nearby. To be honest I was desperate to get to another practice asap - the old one felt unsafe. Surely it's a great thing if the practice are crap and you're given the option to switch?

Riaanna · 13/05/2025 19:02

Depends on the complaint.

Blackdow · 13/05/2025 19:07

Do you have serious conditions which they are not managing? Have the failed to act, forgotten important referrals? Im just really struggling to understand how one person can have submitted several written complaints about their GP. What’s going so wrong for you?

You need a fresh start probably, but you need to figure out if you were right to complain or if you were behaving badly. So, what did you complain about?

momtoboys · 13/05/2025 19:08

When you call the office, people fight over who will have to talk to you. Please take a long, hard look at if those "several" complaints were worth complaining about or you will find yourself banned from most offices. Believe me, word gets around.

OP it would be helpful to know what you were complaining about, how forcefully whether you used insulting language and whether it was something the practice could take on board and fix. From their response it sounds like the practice were fed up with trivial complaints and suggested you move on somewhere else. Only you can say if tat’s true.

pilates · 13/05/2025 19:10

What are you complaining about?

3luckystars · 13/05/2025 19:12

Please can you give us a couple of examples ?

please I would love to hear what you have been complain about

My GP surgery has a phone message every time you ring, and part of it advises that the reception team are trained and tasked with asking the nature of your complaint and then referring you to the most appropriate HCP. They are trained what to do in most scenarios. If no appointments are available by the time you get through they will signpost you to the next most appropriate service. This is not receptionists giving out medical advice, this is them triaging you to the most appropriate care. Which is part of their job.

Do you know how much time is wasted dealing with malicious complaints? If something is actually wrong then by all means raise it, but “I just can’t stop complaining” is not a valid reason and it’s awful behaviour. Move to a different practice, don’t complain without valid reasons, and make sure you also write an apology to the previous practice.

But what are you complaining about? Is it reasonable or then you just start getting ridiculous?

unlikelywitch · 13/05/2025 19:19

If this is true (and I have serious doubts), you’ve made several vexatious complaints against a number of staff and they’ve had enough. I suspect the staff in question have refused to have any further dealings with you.
