To think forced starvation is just plain evil!

On the BBC today. The UN has condemned using man made starvation as a war tactic. Surely we can come to a general consensus that whatever you think about the conflict, Israel's actions here are just plain evil?

@JandamiHash Who is asking for Israel to be disarmed? They’re just asking that they stop committing war crimes.

You keep repeating nonsensical stuff that is not part of any debate and never has been - no one is saying Israel can’t defend itself and no one is saying they should be disarmed.

People on this thread have demanded that the UK stops supplying arms to Israel.

Isn't it interesting that you almost never see photos of starving adults from Hamas propagandists? It's an interesting "forced starvation" where many of the adults are normal weight or even obese, when caught in frame with an ill child?
Let's see some group photos please!
Or you can have a look at this video https://x.com/i/status/1918295084153409622 advertising the Abu Jihad Saqallah cake shop in Gaza - look at all the "starving" people. This is date stamped 2/May/2025.

Yes it obvious people aren't starving in Gaza, they are probably out partying every night as well😬

When people are trying to rubbish the hundreds of desperate images coming out of Gaza it really says it all.....

As we should. But then we supply arms to all sorts of wars that we shouldn’t be doing. We condemn war whilst simultaneously profiting from it. It’s all so warped.

Here's Abu selling cans of beef in the market in Gaza, timestamped a few days ago. He also has another video showing the type of powdered milk he prefers for making cheese - he has a choice of three different brands.
https://x.com/i/status/1921423745219981619
Now, if you've got this far and you're wondering where these videos come from - they're being posted onto social media by Gazans themselves who think that nobody notices and that no one else in the world can speak Arabic.
Big shout out to Imshin on Twitter (@Imshin), who does both.
There is no famine in Gaza.

I see the twitter followers and deniers have arrived because we all get our news off twitter, it’s such a reliable source 🤣🤣🤣

This
From the BBC 2nd April

Israel says there’s enough food for millions 🤣🤣🤣.

The denial of October 7th is so intrinsically linked to deep and ancient antisemitic tropes that Jews lie and exaggerate about the hate aimed at them. If people are going to be Pro Palestine then fine but they should do a civic duty of researching the very specific and unique ways which antisemitism is played out, why it is SO dangerous to uphold this and how this applies to the conflict.

Not one person on this or any other thread has denied October 7th- either that it happened or that it was abhorrent. How you can possibly somehow twist that into antisemitism is beyond me.

The UK is far from the only nation supplying arms to Israel. But yes it would be nice for the government here to not be complicit in war crimes

Yeah? People don’t think we should be sending them arms until they stop committing war crimes.

That’s not the same as saying Israel shouldn’t be able to defend themselves or that they should be “disarmed”.

To disarm would mean to forcibly remove their weapons. Very different to declining to send weapons to be used for a genocide.

Comedycook · 11/05/2025 13:40

I'm sure I read an article in October 2023 that said Gaza was hours away from running out of water ... That was 18 months ago.

I’ve definitely seen comments on other threads claiming that the atrocities of October 7th “have been debunked”. Such comments get deleted promptly, and rightfully so, but they definitely do pop up occasionally.

People “rubbishing desperate images coming out of Gaza” is not the same as people questioning conflicting images/ information coming out of Gaza.
And there certainly is plenty of conflicting information, regarding both sides of the conflict.

There is no conflicting information coming out of Gaza. There are a multitude of credible organisations saying war crimes are being committed and then there’s the right wing mainstream western media covering it up.

People without access to medicines?
People who desperately want to see life survive?
People who have sex?
People who have already lost children?
People who have been raped?
or how about this- people who can live any way they damn well please without some snot on the Internet looking down on them from a position of incredible good fortune?

Well said ! 👏👏

what a truly disgraceful judgmental post !

CallMeMabel · 11/05/2025 13:52

Of course starving a civilian population is wrong, no discussion should be required. There are some truly abhorrent opinions on this thread and mumsnet is a disgrace to let them stand.

Yes because the majority is controlled by Israel
What little there is is contaminated and causes disease

The only chance of Gaza getting uncontaminated water is through aid.

see articles by The Centre for Strategic and International Studies ( The Seige of Gazas Water ) , Oxfam etc etc etc

There’s water and then there’s safe water….there’s a big difference

Luckily, they respect freedom of opinion and speech (as long as nothing hateful or inciting hatred is posted). It seems you don’t.

Gerbilboy · 11/05/2025 14:03

In case any one thought Israel called about the Israeli hostages.

Also I would highly recommend Louis Theroux's documentary 'The Settlers' - dispossessing the Palestinians has been in the DNA of Israel from the very beginning.

Can I ask what you think would happen is Israel was no longer able to defend itself?

This goes way way beyond defending itself.

I've seen images of emaciated children....none of adults.... except the hostages

If you look up famine in Gaza, you'll find articles and articles virtually every month since this conflict started saying that they're on the brink of famine, on the brink of no water, on the brink of no power....

I suppose we have to accept in a free world that some people have very low standards in terms of what is hateful and what isn’t.

And we see twitter and Netanyahus far right followers in denial.
Every month of every year since the war started despite his Government saying in their very own words their intent is to stop aid.

Deny deny 🥱
