I don’t think I have ever felt the need to start a thread, but the picture of Trump as Pope i just saw on SkyNews is so absolutely incredibly offensive that i just can’t stop myself.

AIBU?!

He’s a nasty beast.

WinterMorn · 03/05/2025 20:18

It’s yet another warning sign that people seem reluctant to act on. It’s disgraceful and offensive.

nocoolnamesleft · 03/05/2025 20:18

It is totally crass of him. But, honestly, compared to his actual crimes it seems like relatively small beer.

NineteenSeventyNine · 03/05/2025 20:19

YANBU, but Trump being offensive is a bit like the Pope being Catholic

NuffSaidSam · 03/05/2025 20:19

He's absolutely unhinged.

I'd be concerned more than outraged.

Willyoujustbequiet · 03/05/2025 20:20

He's as thick as mince.

LillyPJ · 03/05/2025 20:20

He's so ignorant. Vile man. I'm not religious at all but I think it's really offensive.

I disagree. The notion that he’d post a photo of himself like this is just so offensive to catholics I simply can’t get over it.

He is repulsive.

He should be grateful that Roman Catholics are not as revengeful as they were in medieval times. His head would have been on a pole by now.

Totally. I don’t think it’s massively offensive- people pretending to be the pope isn’t offensive to catholics the way say, drawing prophets is to Muslims- but it’s still crass and well, quite cringy really.

Quite. I'm a Catholic. I find it offensive. But in a "for fuck's sake what is that twat up to now?" kind of way, rather than in a "mortally wounded" sense.

I get that this is very offensive to Catholics. But if you think this is worse than anything else that he has done, I would suggest that you haven't been paying attention.

cakeorwine · 03/05/2025 20:27

It does seem disrespectful to the Catholic Church and the millions of Catholics around the world.

I wonder how his followers and the White House Press secretary will respond?

And also - what is happening whilst this is being talked about?

InNeedOfARefresh · 03/05/2025 20:28

I wonder what J D Vance thinks.

Kendodd · 03/05/2025 20:30

What's this?
Trump dressed up at the Pope ?

He's repulsive indeed. Let's not forget this is the same man who posted an AI generated video of him building a golden temple of bling over the bones of Gazan people...

backslashruby · 03/05/2025 20:33

I prefer this image.

To be totally outraged at photo of Trump as Pope
Cynicalaboutall · 03/05/2025 20:34

He needs to post one of himself as an Imam.. for balance!

RipleyJones · 03/05/2025 20:34

So what? So what if people are offended?
I can’t stand the man but still.

Aiiii · 03/05/2025 20:34

A lot of what he does/says feels like a test, rather than a genuine expression of belief - can I get away with this? How far can I push these particular people? Can I shift the window of acceptability just a little further? It’s cynical, at best; at worst… well.

LizzieSiddal · 03/05/2025 20:35

He’s a despicable man in every way.

He admitted in a recent interview that he deliberately does/says stupid things to take attention away from new orders/laws etc he’s putting through. He does this so the press don’t write about the new Laws.
I wonder what Executive Orders he’s signing this weekend.Hmm

Imagine if he'd done it with some other religion. Some take that kind of offence much more seriously. And besides - what was Trump trying to imply? That's he's a saintly man? A good person? I'm not sure he's even religious at all - he probably just says he's a Christian to get more votes.

TisILeClair · 03/05/2025 20:35

I think it’s funny, but not in the way Trump would like.
He should do the world a favour and do one of himself as Muhammad next…

NoraLuka · 03/05/2025 20:42

I think it’s frightening in the sense that it’s something a silly 12 year old would do, and this guy is in charge of one of the most powerful countries in the world. WTF is going through his mind that makes him think this is ok? There are lots of world leaders past and present who I don’t like but I can’t think of any others who would do this kind of thing.

I’m an ex Catholic, don’t particularly like religion of any kind but bloody hell.

Somethingthecatdraggedin7 · 03/05/2025 20:47

I’m quite pleased. The more people who see that he is deranged the better.
Only a few months ago he/ the shite house posted a picture of him as king wearing a crown.
