ive been thinking tonight about loo roll useage (happy bank holiday i hope yours is as thrilling as mine) and i was wondering how long it takes for one person to use up one toilet roll

i will be the first to admit im heavy handed with a loo roll i do use too much BUT I am currently house/pet sitting for a family friend for two weeks and they have left me three loo rolls... 3 loo rolls for 2 weeks, they have vastly underestimated me haven't they

so say you were living alone, how long would one loo roll last you id like to know how off piste i am

I can answer this definitively being equally sad on a bank holiday weekend as I read it recently on a bamboo toilet roll packet😂..........the average person in the uk gets through 127 rolls a year🚽🧻

1 a day, if it’s one of the twice as much on one roll it will last me 2 days. H rarely craps. I can crap at the very least thrice a day, & P on average 6 times an hour.

Two of us and we average 6 a month, so 3ish a month if I was single, and I also use it to blow my nose.

I used to house sit a lot, I can't say I ever noticed how much toilet paper people left, if I took the last roll out of the cupboard, or whatever storage they used, I'd just buy more. I'd have no problem using what they had there, but likewise I wouldn't expect them to deliberately make sure there's enough for the duration of my stay.. it's such a non-issue.

We buy Andrex Aloe, which has aloe vera infused into the paper, making it a less messy version of your idea @HerNextDoorAgain.

It's expensive in comparison to others, but I wait until it's on offer and buy it in bulk, so usually get 9 rolls for around £4.50. We are a family of 4 (including 2 teenage DDs, one of whom has OCD) and several days a week we have various boyfriend/girlfriend/gangs of teens descending on the house, so we get through between 9 and 12 rolls a week.

When I’m away I have a house sitter. She is told in advance to use supplies in my house as she needs them, loo roll included. I also ask her to let me know if she finishes something - so I know before I need it again. We usually have plenty of LR as I bulk buy at Costco.
However wherever you are you would need loo roll, they’ve left you some but I don’t think they’re obliged to supply enough for the whole of your stay.

I live alone. 1 roll a week when I was in the office in the week, 2 rolls now I’m working from home.

But surely you'll get them some basics for coming home? Loo roll, milk, bread etc
I've always done that so they don't have to shop after a long journey

Wash yourself and then dry with a bit of loo roll. See your usage reduce dramatically and also improve your hygeine

i simply don’t understand how people can use one a month surely they can’t be drinking enough

also think it’s a lot to do with how social you are, if you’re out the house a lot and using other people’s loos then it makes sense to barely use any at home, i’m a homebody so i tend to stay at home a lot hence use my own loo a lot more

less of the loo roll shaming people please it’s a very subjective topic, let people wipe as they please

I can easily get through a roll every 2 days. I have IBS though.

I’m another one who goes through loads. I have an overactive bladder and IBS and we use roughly one of the double length Sainsbury’s ones a day, with me using the majority. I also use it for wrapping a liner and a quick wipe round of the loo, as well as the glasses cleaning and nose blowing! I used to buy branded stuff but it cost a fortune!!!

i think if you use less than 1 every 3/4 days you are not wiping properly. Ew.

I probably get through at least 2 per week but I have days when I might go three or four times and others when I just go once or not at all.

My friend has IBD and I know she goes through a roll every couple of days as she can sometimes go six or seven times on bad days.

We buy the “double roll” length ones, and a pack of 4 of those lasts 2 adults and 1 child 2 weeks on average in our house. But we’re generally all out all day most weekdays.

That makes sense. Less people in the office, nobody has enough bog roll at home...your mum could've made a fortune on the second hand toilet paper market!

If you wipe and the paper is clean and you are dry, why would you need more wiping.

Ha ha! Last year four of us (all adults).stayed in an Airbnb in Boston and there was a single half roll of toilet paper in the bathroom. Our host mesaged to check everything was fine and we had found the key safe ok. I replied saying it was all great but could she recommend a nearby grocery shop as we needed to get more loo roll.

We went out exploring and came back later thay day to find pack of twelve loo rolls left outside the door, "very kind" I thought "but a bit over the top, we are only here for three days". The next day, when hunting for the iron, I found a pack of 24 loo rolls in the hall cupboard. Poor woman must have thought we had all been immediately struck down with the terrible shits or something 🫣

About 2 weeks.

i have done my market research and have concluded that one roll every 2 days is sufficient
some of you will be aghast at that but you worry about your bottoms and ill worry about mine

We use 2-3 rolls per week for a household of 4 people (2 adults, 2 teenagers)

Mind you, I was gobsmacked at the recent poo regularity thread - some people going 3 times a day, others once every 3 weeks. Who knew!
