I don't know much about Reform , but why are they being banded about with being racist . What has been said by them it to them to make it so ?

In my eyes , regardless of where their home country was , if they are not legally applying to enter the country ( fine by me ) but entering as illegal , homeless , broke ( i.e we are having to house , clothes , payout ) surely that is a drain on our resources and stopping the vast numbers coming is a good thing .
By doing that , is that making them racist ?

Their beliefs might not be ingrained. They might have just followed the views of the adults around them. I'm nearly 60, I'm from an immigrant family. I speak to people who were my bullies. I have had actually really interesting conversations around socialisation and not being allowed to critically think about things. Not just racism, but sexism, homophobia and domestic violence (there was DV in at least every three houses were I grew up) unsurprisingly, all of the bullies had severe DV going on. Men (I include my fathervin this) from certain regions of the world will be misogynistic and the women will have internalised that. But I've seen people completely turn around their views.

There might not be anything racist about wanting to limit immigration, but demonising migrants and whipping up fear is. What sort of rhetoric do you think led to people attempting to set fire to hotels where some asylum seekers were staying.

We need immigration. It's vital. Soon more than ever as the birth rate is shrinking. Sensible limits? Sure. Speedy processing of asylum claims? Yes. Farage's hateful, divisive views? No thank you.

I live and work right in the heart of an area that would give Farage a heart attack given how full of immigration and asylum seekers it is. Guess what - everyone rubs along fine.

Lots of kids appear to be racist before they learn to think. The chair of Reform is Zia Yusuf. The son of Sri Lankan immigrants. That must upset some of the extremists who thought Reform was all about race.

Good grief! Is that your considered answer? Having a person of colour in a senior position means they can't be racist? Words fail me.

The laziest, most unintelligent argument of all. No, people do not have to become politicians in order to scrutinise political representatives. This is literally how democracy works. The people reserve the right to criticise government at every level. You would prefer to live in a system where the people in positions of authority do as they please, and the rest of us keep quiet unless we are prepared to become politicians ourselves?
