And that he's no economist skills yet promising the impossible. And a racist. And mysoginist.

If Mumsnet is full of women, how is no-one talking about Reform and limiting women's rights?
I know I'll get flamed for this, but it is a boiling frog situation! Jump out!
And I didn't choose the AIBU board but I looked down all the Current Threads and this didn't feature.

I don’t know much about politics but people seem to brush reform off with ‘racist’ ‘ism’ and leave it at that.

Why exactly are they racist? Genuine question.

Is it just because they want to limit illegal migration? If so that doesn’t strike me as particularly racist in itself.

Middle class white women do lean heavily left, and seem to have a hard time understanding others points of view.

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 03/05/2025 06:27

If people support a party then they either agree with them, agree enough about some things that they are willing to accept other things as part of a package deal or they don't give a shit about the people the party is targeting.

The way people are going, I'm wondering if I can start a go fund me and ask them to help send my family back where they came from.

ThejoyofNC · 03/05/2025 06:27

Honestly this is just pathetic. It's a clear sign of the success of Reform when all people can do is spout nonsense about supposedly being racist.

Didn't a senior Reform member say migrants crossing the channel should be left to drown, another said gun them down.

Their policy on x ch migrants is to tow them back to France, in dinghies which will probably capsize - so will be allowed to drown.

Why are the first few posters pretending not to understand? 😳 Reform IS Farage - most people would be hard pushed to name any of the other MPs or any of their policies for that matter. He’s an appalling individual but his role model is Trump so none of it is a surprise 🤬

Because their views are aligned.

OutandAboutMum1821 · 03/05/2025 06:40

thepariscrimefiles · 03/05/2025 05:52

I assume that because Nigel Farage is a big supporter of Trump who says he’s ‘proudly responsible’ for the reversal of Roe v. Wade, but he’s not stopping there – he thinks ‘there has to be some form of punishment’ for women who access reproductive care and would allow states to punish doctors who provide abortions. Nigel Farage has previously said that he would like a debate on lowering the time limit for an abortion from 24 weeks.

I agree with him that there should be a debate on lowering the abortion limit, that’s a perfectly valid opinion. I think 24 weeks IS too late in the vast majority of cases, unless Mum’s life is threatened.

Have you see what a 20 week old baby looks like? I have, twice at my own scans. I was amazed at how much they were already formed, I could see their spines, their organs. They certainly look like actual babies.

How much time have you spent in the NICU? I was there round the clock with my first was rushed there born 2 weeks early with a life threatening infection. His amazing team were caring for several babies delivered before/around 24 weeks who were thriving under their care.

So basically people are scared their benefits are being taken of them, never mind funding themselves they want the government to do it for them

Don't be silly.

I'm no Reform supporter or voter, but any idiot can understand that tax payers can also feel annoyed that the hard earned money they've handed over to the government is being used in this way while other central services are being cut.

They're probably people who feel disenfranchised, completely unrepresentative, possibly worked hard all their lives for what they feel is little recompense and squeezed by the cost of living.

I'm the 'squeezed middle' and feel that way, too, however Reform's rhetoric doesn't resonate with me and I'd rather protest vote Green (and did so in the last GE).

Tripleblue · 03/05/2025 06:44

Can you please learn the meaning of words? People who are victims of racism do not appreciate your trivialising the word and bashing it around like this. Your virtue signalling just shows your dimmnes and fools nobody.

Ponoka7 · 03/05/2025 06:44

@randomchap you've failed at life if you are happy in a job and don't want to chase, promotion, a career, or have limited means?
So all the long term porters and support staff in hospitals gave failed at life? All care home, residential HCAs etc? All the people who work in hospitality/cleaning etc?

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 03/05/2025 03:49

One day, if Reform ever get in (ugh) people will find out that it isnt immigrants taking all the money, but another group in society. Except we already know this.

Which group?

FruityCider · 03/05/2025 06:48

I just can't believe that people are looking at the shit show that is America right now and thinking, oh yeah, I want a piece of that. Or that people look at the man responsible for the disaster that was/is Brexit, and want him in again.

Farage makes me ill just looking at him, the toad.

Many of us have followed Nigel Farage for a long time, know that he he racist, not supposedly racist and know that the only thing he cares about is Farage. He's very good at talking but not so good at doing anything. He was an MEP for years despite hating the European Parliament. He very seldom did any work and yet campaigned vigorously for things he could have impacted. Obviously he trousered all the cash & bragged about it.

JohnWickAteMyHamster · 03/05/2025 06:55

But are Reform really a party of public services? Will there actually be any benefit to the average voter when Reform reduce immigration, do people actually think there will suddenly be more disability services, better education, money in their pocket?
Reform will reduce public services further. Farage wants to privatise the NHS.
Reform aren't going to "help our own".

Well why don't you become politician yourself then?

It is very easy to criticise from your sofa
Get off your backside and do something about it.

Cherry8809 · 03/05/2025 06:57

Get a fucking grip, honestly.

There’s nothing “racist” about wanting to limit immigration.

Do you think that the BNP would have a brown Muslim chairman?

ohfook · 03/05/2025 06:58

I only know a handful of people who have voted reform. They have been racist as long as I’ve known them, so it’s going to take a lot to convince me that reform isn’t a racist party when the only people I know voting for them are absolute racists.

However, the other three parties have completely allowed this to happen. I’m from a dyed in the wool Labour stronghold and people are losing faith fast.

You can’t be serious?!
If you are - which i really would find shocking - here’s the Deaton review

@thepariscrimefiles I think we all probably did things at school that would not bear scrutiny now. I know I did. That's normal for teenagers.

It doesn't mean they still do the same things as adults.

You were racist as a teenager?

I think most teens do silly things with the potential to harm themselves.

A racist teen would have to work very hard as an adult to undo their previous ingrained beliefs.

Littlebutloud · 03/05/2025 07:00

Keirawr · 03/05/2025 03:34

You are not making any sense, try again.

But let’s see…

As far as being an economist goes, everyone is an economist if the Mickey Mouse chancellor who lied on her CV, plagiarized books and was accused of fiddling her expenses while working in the private sector is anything to go by. The bar is so low, that anything would be an improvement on that.

And wanting to limit immigration is not racist. You are behind the times. Squealing that people are racist for perfectly valid views is no longer enough to shame them and shut them up.

How do you think limiting immigration will improve your life?

MyDeftDuck · 03/05/2025 07:02

Perhaps they were the best of a bad bunch? Perhaps Reform will turn things around? They certainly can’t make the country any worse than Labour and Conservatives already have can they?
