And that he's no economist skills yet promising the impossible. And a racist. And mysoginist.

If Mumsnet is full of women, how is no-one talking about Reform and limiting women's rights?
I know I'll get flamed for this, but it is a boiling frog situation! Jump out!
And I didn't choose the AIBU board but I looked down all the Current Threads and this didn't feature.

Oh, OK, we're doing that are we? The child of asylum seekers.

How far back do we go? Are you throwing out the descendents of Ugandan Asians who sought asylum from Idi Amin in the 70s? The descendents of Jews who sought asylum from the Nazis in the 30s?

We do. Ask the hospitality, health/care, engineering and tech sectors how they would survive right now without international talent.

Which just leads to wage suppression in those industries. Building, hospitality, factory etc etc wages stagnated while a never ending stream of people from poorer countries would come here and work for low wages.
In tech, the skilled workers visa which requires a minimum payment of £38k will basically now be the benchmark salary. Anyone trying to get more than this will be met with ‘We can get an Indian onsite for £38k’.
Tech has already been decimated with the outsourcing, this is taking it one step further.

And he was the child of asylum seekers. Just like the Manchester Arena bomber who blew himself up to murder as many children as possible, while his brother continues to behave like a feral animal.to this day.

Exactly @Somerford !

this particular poster is purposely obtuse…🤣

Rudakbana ain’t a British name …his parents were asylum seekers from Rwanda. But they know that and just grasping at straws desperate …much .

bellsanddogwhistles · 04/05/2025 10:15

So how about Valdo Calocane who stabbed 3 people?

Ali a British Somali who murdered Sir David Amiss

Adebolajo and Adebowale - killers of Lee Rigby. They are described as British of Nigerian descent.
Hey-ho some shining example of integration with British values !

and Emad Al Sweelman (Liverpool Woman's Hospital Bomber)
This last poor disadvantaged sausage who had his asylum claim rejected, set out to bomb the main maternity hospital in Liverpool.

@MasterBeth Are you throwing out the descendents of Ugandan Asians who sought asylum from Idi Amin in the 70s? The descendents of Jews who sought asylum from the Nazis in the 30s?

These people you mention adopted this country as their own and set themselves up in business and commence.
They were a credit and an asset to UK.- and still are.

How many descendents of those Jews were raised by their parents to hate us, to the point where they felt compelled to dedicate their lives to murdering as many of us as possible?

You're flogging a dead horse. The Southport murderer still gets protection from white saviours. Farage was right about him all along BTW, as were the people festering in prisons.

Maybe I have missed it. But surely if immigration was such a great benefit to the UK, the government would be on the TV constantly having debates with the naysayers and easily wining the arguments with the endless streams of evidence that debunks all the negativity around immigration?

Trump is cheerfully deporting and sending to foreign prisons anyone he doesn't like the look of with no legal process being followed. Is that what you want here?

If they are criminals yes, that's exactly what I want. That's what every country does, or should do if the criminals have been found. Its not just trump that does that. All countries do this. Probably not UK because UK is a shambles and won't be able to locate these criminals. Each country has its own bloody criminals to house and deal with , migrant criminals should be sent back to their own country for their own country to house and deal with. And, no, Trump doesn't cheerfully deport to foreign prisons "anyone who he doesn't like the look of". This sort of slander dhould be banned on social media platforms. It's ridiculous. If you don't like a politician , that's fine. But you shouldn't be spouting lies and slandering people just to fit your narrative. He is deporting illegal migrants and criminals, which is a 100%what I'd want to happen here. He hasn't deported any of my family or friends who have moved there because they have moved there legally and are not fecking criminals. They are doing bloody well in the US.

There we go. Takes a while to get there. But it always comes out in the end.

You're not a racist. How dare I suggest you are.

But when it comes down to it, you don't trust foreigners. And how do you know if they're a foreigner? Have they got a proper British name?

100% racist.

Of course people interacting with other people can always have the potential to be a problem. New neighbours don't always understand each other from the start. It can take time for different communities to get on.

But... our country is in a mess. The rich are getting richer while ordinary people's wages have stagnated. Our towns and cities suffer from chronic under-investment in public services. Housing is expensive or unavailable. Life is very difficult for lots of people right now. This is not the fault of migration.

I completely understand that if you believe that incomers are being given opportunities or handouts that are unavailable to you, you will see it as unfair.

And, of course, if someone moves in next door to you and behaves in an antisocial way then of course that has a negative effect. But to blame their behaviour on their ethnicity is, bluntly, racist.

Someone earlier up the thread when I asked her about "purpose built asylum seeker accomodation" wouldn't share any examples she said she knew about (and said she had even been in). She did the classic conspiracy theory "do your own research" cliche). So I have.

My searching can't find ANY purpose-built asylum seeker accomodation in the UK. There was the Bibby barge that was shut down because it became dangerous. There were plans for two military bases to be taken over and plans to rent out a student block in Huddersfield (student rooms are literally not deemed large enough for normal working people to live in). No purpose-built accomodation, as far as I can see. (Feel free to show me I'm wrong.)

It's the same with "nice hotels". Congratulations if you've found a counter- example. But mostly, asylum seekers have been stuffed into the cheapest, shittiest places that can be found. Legally, they are not allowed to work. They are given £49 a week to survive on: www.gov.uk/asylum-support/what-youll-get It's just not the typical experience of an asylum-seeker to be swanning around the Crowne Plaza swimming pool living a life of luxury.

So anecdotes and myths. All this "you can't even celebrate Christmas any more in case you offend them" bullshit. And it's fed by people who should and do know better.

Don't forget, the same people who told you that the EU/Brussels was the cause of all these problems is now telling you that immigration is the cause of all these problems.

Farage is a grifter, a racist, a public school banker and a man of huge wealth who has no idea how ordinary working class people live. His Brexit has made a huge amount of money for him and his banker friends off the back of the huge hit to our economy - billions and billions of pounds every year! And he dares blame migrants in small boats for our problems! It's shocking scapegoating of vulnerable people.

A hotel I booked for last years Great South Run, £150 night. I’ve stayed there many times it was well maintained and clean overlooking the sea front. Two weeks before the race I received an email to say my booking was cancelled as the Home Office had taken control of the hotel. This hotel was not a Shiite little squalid place. So please don’t lecture those of us that are seeing exactly what is happening. Good and bad hotels are being used. I’m glad Reform have won seats. Perhaps we can start talking about this issue now without immediately being called racist. Bit like the transgender issue - we were called terfs if we raised a safeguarding issue at school or guides. Now we find out that legally we were all correct from the start.

Guinessandafire · 04/05/2025 10:38

I get that Reform voters are 'angry' , but surely it doesn't take to much of a thought process to think if the Conservaties and Labour can't 'stop the boats', how can Reform?

What new WORKABLE ideas have they to 'Stop The Boats' and control immigration?

How can they put in place such stuff popular and vote winning scheme, if the Tories and Labour can't?

Being 'angry' about something is no reason to vote for a far right party who's mouthpiece is a lazy, corrupt, grifter ( all provable by the way) .

To quote Starmer - "we have difficult decisions to make" so yes, a good idea.

They'd only have to send one plane load and the boats would stop overnight. 🙂

It’s doable via a mandate at a GE. Which hasn’t been asked for by the major parties so far.

@MasterBethI think it’s difficult to sell in a system that means we had the Manchester bombing and the recent prison violence. That’s real pain to people and something that could have been avoided with better systems.

What's a British name?

His parents were asylum seekers decades ago and are now British citizens as is he. He was radicalised in Britain not by his parents. He was linked to services in Britain not anywhere else. He was schooled in Britain not anywhere else. He committed an horrendous attack on innocent children, that needs to be investigated as to how it got to that stage, he was known to authorities. But his parents once being asylum seekers is not relevant to what happened.
