To think that not speaking to your own son is not a good look for the King ?

Don’t get me wrong I think Harry has been a bit of an entitled burk but even so I was shocked that there has not been a reconciliation between Harry and Megan and the King and Queen at least to be civil to each other .
Refusing to even speak just seems like sulking to me !
That said I don’t think Harry telling the world and washing yet more dirty laundry in public is going to help matters .

Maybe some folk will think this comment belongs in the Royal Family thread rather than AIBU but it’s more about mumsnet standards ( sulking is not good ) and whether they should apply to those in high office .

Even JFK and Krushev had a hotline after the Cuban Crisis !

I suspect Charles has refused to talk about an ongoing court case rather than going non-contact but it suits Hs narrative to not give the detail. Better headlines and makes 'the other side' look bad? Again?

JenniferAnistonForReals · 02/05/2025 22:08

Imagine if the late queen wrote an AIBU.

I put work before my family always and choose spouses for my children based on how well they will fit in with and carry on my work. AIBU?

This is in no way a normal family,

Missey85 · 02/05/2025 22:09

If I was Charles I wouldn't want to speak to Harry either all his done is bitch and moan since he left I mean if your child wrote a book like he did would you?

Happyher · 02/05/2025 22:09

They won’t talk to him in case it ends up in another book or Tv show

jan2310 · 02/05/2025 22:09

Im watching now on the BBC news and he’s a disgrace. How dare he demand that I and other taxpayers pay for security for what he does in his private life.
if he comes to see the king he will automatically be given security. This is all a red herring and it’s dreadful.
i didn’t like him much before. Now I’m truly disgusted.

Good. I hope she blows the lid on the lot of them.

Then maybe we can get some truth about her and her family's sordid past.

JudgeJ · 02/05/2025 22:06

But if he could prove he's not Charles' biological son then he loses everything, he's not Prince Harry and his Mrs wouldn't be too pleased. In fact he's the image of a bearded Prince Philip at a similar age, google Paris Match for the comparison.

Facially, if you concentrate on the eyes, Charles and Harry are very similar.

Judiezones · 02/05/2025 22:11

I would like to hear Charles' side first because I don't think Harry can be trusted to tell the truth

slashlover · 02/05/2025 22:11

BownnTown · 02/05/2025 21:44

When Harry said there are still truths that have not yet been told and “they’re out there already if you bother to look” I think he was on about his real parentage

He's Philip's double.

Crazyworldmum · 02/05/2025 22:11

Harry’s atitude strand from his bad relationship with his dad . He was and is a bad father .
The more I see of all this the more I think Harry and Meghan moving away was the right thing .

Hepzibar · 02/05/2025 22:12

He just can’t accept he made his bed and now has to lie in it. He made the decision in 2020 and is now clearly regretting it. They now can’t trust a word he says, he’s deluded. Cake and eating?

Darkambergingerlily · 02/05/2025 22:12

slashlover · 02/05/2025 22:11

He's Philip's double.

I think he definitely has the look of some of the royals. I don’t believe he’s a love child based on how he looks nowadays

It’s a bit scary for the RF that Meghan knows everything.

They need to be careful, she will cash in once divorced…

That would be Meghan, the only royal bride who went into the marriage independently wealthy? How many more years are people going to say they're going to get divorced? It'll be their silver wedding and people will still be forecasting divorce.

@CagneyNYPD1 He will get the highest security if he comes to the UK with 30 days notice and asks to stay in a Royal household. I assume they will whisk him from Heathrow to Buckingham Palace and certainly when he and his family meet his father or brother even in private there will be plenty of security.

It might well be that his father and brother don’t want to meet him.

But it’s very clear from the judgement that he does get security when he’s in the UK. They don’t reveal if their guards are armed or not because they can’t. But I suspect sometimes they are. He can’t pay for his own armed protection because no one can here. So there is a contradiction right. Either he trusts the Met and their judgement. Or he doesn’t. If he doesn’t why has he just spent tax payer money and his own money asking for MORE protection from the same people he doesn’t trust?!

Edited

I hadn’t realised this snd given tread the judgement . In that case, yes , I am being very unreasonable !

Harry sued His Majesty's Government in His Majesty's courts, so of course His Majesty couldn't speak to him as, apparently, Harry just wanted to discuss the court case. It's much more than just a father/son fall out.
It is very troubling that Harry appears to have no understanding of how constitutional monarchy works, and thinks his Pa can just make things happen with a wave of his hand.

Crucially, H hasn't had his security removed and, if he is assessed to need it on a visit to the UK, then it will be provided. So he's talking nonsense.

I imagine that KC is very sad about it all, but he has to protect both himself and the monarchy.

whynotwhatknot · 02/05/2025 22:15

maybe because mouth almighty will tell everyone what he says?

he cant wait to trash the family so he doesnt get invited anymore

bluesinthenight · 02/05/2025 22:21

ThedaBara · 02/05/2025 21:57

At the end of the interview Harry says that there are 'some who want history to repeat itself' in reference to Diana. It's absolutely awful, it just comes across as though there is nothing he won't say. Is he employing that there are people in his family who want him or his wife dead?? He comes across as completely deluded, and I'm not surprised that his father and brother who are supporting eachother through their cancer journeys don't have any energy for a chat about the weather with him.

Well, they obviously do want him dead because the risk to his and his family's safety is phenomenal. Just think how many crazies there are out there who want to take a pop at him, Meghan and the kids. I just hope that nothing happens to them. Given the way that the world of politics is shifting right now and feeding the crazy it's quite scary.

slashlover · 02/05/2025 22:21

MereNoelle · 02/05/2025 21:17

I assume he’s concerned that if he talks to Harry, Harry will put the conversations in his next book.

Yes, he should just leak it through "anonymous sources" and "a member of palace staff" like the rest of his family.

Collegennow · 02/05/2025 22:22

Kate must love this! No more shouts of Katie Waite or how her mum engineered the marriage 😂

I think it's sad that it's come to this. Harry must feel like an orphan. I think if Charles was a better man and father, he would keep trying to build bridges. That's just what I would do if it was my child. History is full of warring father/son royalty though. Their German ancestors the Georges, had terrible relationships with their sons so perhaps it's a family trait!

Illegally18 · 02/05/2025 22:27

Marmaladelover · 02/05/2025 21:26

I admit I am wondering if Harry is telling the truth I suspect what happens though is the King doesn’t phone him and won’t accept calls from Harry - maybe they go through a switchboard / personal secretary .
I am guessing since I get most ( all ) of my knowledge of royal protocol from watching The Crown Grin

I did smile at the pp comment that if the King was on Mumsnet we would advise him to go NC Except isn’t that usually reserved for the adult child rather than the parent ?

Watching 'The Crown'? . That was a very biased (but fascinating) programme! It was Tv, made to sell. Grow up!

EdithBond · 02/05/2025 22:28

It’s been said on another thread that KC3 couldn’t speak to him while the court judgment was pending because Harry was prosecuting the Crown. As it was an appeal, that may mean they haven’t been able to directly communicate for some time.

It he doesn’t get permission to appeal, I guess they can now speak again.

The question is, will his father want to speak to him given he’s now set rumours flying that Charles may not have long to live. That’s probably breached nearly every protocol going and (as someone said on another thread) may still legally count as treason.

I am quite grown up thank you and that comment was made tongue in cheek - the grin was the clue !

He will get security. It's not been denied.

But his demands for special security because he is more special than everyone else has not been upheld

SamDeanCas · 02/05/2025 22:32

I find it very hard to believe that the king has simply cut off Harry, essentially going NC with him. Harry is very good at twisting the narrative into something that suits him at the time. I still remember him saying that they didn’t insinuate that the RF were racist following his OW interview. He very cleverly pushed it onto the media, but you can clearly hear M telling OW that someone in the RF was asking what colour Archie’s skin would be. That alone makes me question if he’s telling the whole truth.

Good. I hope she blows the lid on the lot of them.

Blows the lid on what though? This is hardly wikileaks here.

If Harry and Meghan came out and said the royal family were an archaic institution that reinforces deep inequality in our society, that it’s abhorrent that they own palaces whilst veterans are homeless, I would respect that.

Except it’s all “this elderly relative is a bit racist and this one has affairs and this one favoured William over me”. Boo fucking hoo, who cares about any of this?
