To think that not speaking to your own son is not a good look for the King ?

Don’t get me wrong I think Harry has been a bit of an entitled burk but even so I was shocked that there has not been a reconciliation between Harry and Megan and the King and Queen at least to be civil to each other .
Refusing to even speak just seems like sulking to me !
That said I don’t think Harry telling the world and washing yet more dirty laundry in public is going to help matters .

Maybe some folk will think this comment belongs in the Royal Family thread rather than AIBU but it’s more about mumsnet standards ( sulking is not good ) and whether they should apply to those in high office .

Even JFK and Krushev had a hotline after the Cuban Crisis !

He said in the interview that there would be family members who wouldn’t talk to him because of the interviews, book etc which would have been the right time to express some regret but not going there makes me think that he isn’t sorry. The fact that he says that he forgives his family without even admitting that he hopes that he is forgiven too shows that reconciliation isn’t going to happen any time soon.

I think most people would wish for a reconciliation but I just cannot see it happening until Harry learns the mantra - never complain, never explain.

Until they can start to rebuild trust the Sussexs will be kept at arms lenght.

Who do you mean by " most people"?

The King has all the power and he is a strong man. See how he got Camilla what she wanted.

I think he is afraid of Camilla and they are all afraid they will be put in the shade again by Harry. Not so much Meghan this time. I still wish for a reconciliation : that’s what civilised people do.

Civilised people? Are you saying that victims should reconcile with their aggressors regardless of what was done to them?

I agree. I think if Meghan leaves him it will be even worse. They have, by any standards had an absolute avalanche of abuse from the press and social media, whipped up by the press, trying to bring down her projects etc when really she is the only one in the family bringing any money in. With Harrys huge sense of grievance (and possibly separated from his children, especially if he's deported, as some are desperate for) it is unlikely that he will admit that he made mistakes. He will blame everything on the British press (justifiably to some extent) and his family. It will add to his sense of victimhood. But it looks like the RF/Royalists will only want him back without Meghan, so its a lose/lose situation.

The royal family are ultra rich feudal landlords. They're anything but civilised.

That doesn't answer my question.

lol- there is no silence . He briefs the media constantly and in the shadows
If you have something to say Charles say it calmly and publicly like your son . Make a written statement even
Only the gullible think Charles or William are ‘silent ‘ - we’ve had all that confirmed . They sneak around leaking ‘their side’ to the media . Dignified they are not

Edited

How do you know The King briefs the media ? How do you know that that Charles and William sneak around leaking their side ?

Oh, but the poster knows Everything! That Charles and William are cruel and cold for instance, with literally zero evidence. Hyperbole in action.

Sounds like PH, followed the same format he does. Everyone else bad, him the eternal victim.

Meghan said she was going to write a memoir I believe..? I’d be concerned about the Sussexes need for fresh material if I was the RF.

Another Grim fairy tale! Hopefully it will sit in the fiction section.
