To think that not speaking to your own son is not a good look for the King ?

Don’t get me wrong I think Harry has been a bit of an entitled burk but even so I was shocked that there has not been a reconciliation between Harry and Megan and the King and Queen at least to be civil to each other .
Refusing to even speak just seems like sulking to me !
That said I don’t think Harry telling the world and washing yet more dirty laundry in public is going to help matters .

Maybe some folk will think this comment belongs in the Royal Family thread rather than AIBU but it’s more about mumsnet standards ( sulking is not good ) and whether they should apply to those in high office .

Even JFK and Krushev had a hotline after the Cuban Crisis !

Why do you believe what Harry is saying?
He’s a proven liar!
His father might have tried to make contact for all we know.
Walking behind the coffin has no connection with his latest interview. Maybe Charles thought he was doing the right thing at the time.
I don’t believe a word that comes out of Harry’s mouth.

Rictasmorticia · 02/05/2025 21:30

We only have Harry’s word. I expect there maybe some subjects he won’t discuss, like the Court Case and security. I expect they talk about the children. The overly dramatic “I don’t know how long he has to live” seems typical.

MoominMai · 02/05/2025 21:35

King is probably just protecting himself. Harry seems to twist whatever encounters he has to suit his and his wife’s narrative and the whole thing is just ridiculous. They made it clear they both felt traumatised by the Royal Family and wanted to break away but then demand titles for their kids?! And are so poorly mannered even use the Queens pet nickname as a formal first name for their daughter. I think KC just sees through him now and the betrayal from Harry compounded by his ‘Spare’ book has consequences he needs to suck up.

Gowlett · 02/05/2025 21:35

It’s a bit scary for the RF that Meghan knows everything.

They need to be careful, she will cash in once divorced…

Pallisers · 02/05/2025 21:37

If Charles isn't speaking to him who'd blame him. The constant interviews and lies - who in the right mind would put up with that from a family member.

Who indeed? Of course when they were children both William and Harry had to put up with both their parents plastering their marriage and affairs all over the world with tell-alls/interviews/leaks/books etc.

Aizen · 02/05/2025 21:38

How do we know what goes on behind the closed doors of Royalty Gardens anyway.

For all we know this could be cooked up by the meeja. Has H actually said anything that has been corroborated by KC and his missus? Has William said anything? Not that I know of so who the heck knows?

They could be whatsapping all day with pics of the kids.

Without any personal knowledge AT ALL, I would agree that Charles is a snake in the grass, and quite frankly he doesn't impress me at all. I compare him to my late father and there is just nothing, nothing that would improve my view of KC with that comparison.

So, let them at it, I wish KC good health, Harry a happy life, William a kick up the eighties to do a bit of work now and then, and well, I really don't care much about any of them anyway, but don't wish ill will either. Why would I?

NonComm · 02/05/2025 21:40

@HRTQueen
@MrsCravensworth
Agreed.
Charles also wrote a book criticising his parents and yet they didn’t ‘grey rock’ or go NC with him.
Charles cheated on Diana.
Charles married the mistress.
Charles allowed the press to bully H&M
Charles is the parent and should fix it with his son if he has any decency left in him.
Also, a retired senior Met officer (who will be better informed than any of us) confirmed that H & M’s lives were in danger.
H&M will never get fair treatment in this country.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 02/05/2025 21:40

Speaking to Harry means millions are listening in.

I wouldn’t.

moose62 · 02/05/2025 21:40

Harry has slagged off and insulted nearly every one of his family. He has insulted his father's wife and deeply upset his brother and his sister in law.....but its really good to know that he forgives them. Perhaps someone should explain to him that they don't forgive him given that he has never apologised and keeps rubbing salt in the wound with his continual woe is me act.
I'm so bored of him and wish the press would lose interest and stop giving him the publicity he craves.

Fiver555 · 02/05/2025 21:40

Charles did indeed pack his children off to boarding school, but I'm sure Diana had a say in that too. And isn't there an interview with Harry where he says that he talked over the walking behind the coffin with Prince Philip, and made the decision himself?

I have some sympathy for Harry over the security while in the UK, but he twists and minimises things so much that I can't like him any more. Saying his family are angry with him for 'writing a book' - it's not like he wrote a children's fairy story is it? They are angry that he wrote THAT book. Not A book.

DutchEmerald · 02/05/2025 21:43

He nailed his colours to the MM and Oprah mast, he chose money over family and constantly plays the victim card. I don't like his dad but I don't blame him for not bothering with the whinger.

Boreded · 02/05/2025 21:43

HRTQueen · 02/05/2025 21:14

He allowed his sons to walk behind their mothers coffin at her funeral while the world watch all for the royal image

he packed them back off to boarding school when their were grieving

he had no intentions of ever being faithful and choose a bride that suited his needs and watched her mental health spiral and did nothing

what makes you think Charles is a nice guy he has never had a reputation of being nice

He is and always will be a total plank

BownnTown · 02/05/2025 21:44

When Harry said there are still truths that have not yet been told and “they’re out there already if you bother to look” I think he was on about his real parentage

TheCountofMountingCrispBags · 02/05/2025 21:48

Refresh you history of royal houses from our pre-conquest days on to today.
It's all rather tame in comparison.

ticktickticktickBOOM · 02/05/2025 21:48

Bloody hell. It's all him, him, him.

Both his dad, and his brothers wife had cancer last year and all he talks about is himself. Still!

He left the UK as he wanted to start a new life away from royalty and the press, now he says he misses it and wants to bring his children to his 'homeland' (😆he's only been away a few years)

. . . and continually seeks publicity, much more so than any other royal!!

He's a twat.

I think you may be right. I just wonder, if you’re Prince Harry, why you would want the whole world to know you’re not of royal descent at all?

Mumsgirls · 02/05/2025 21:49

Who would want to speak to someone you cannot trust. He could lie and say anything and is not au fait with reality. Diana equally packed her young sons off as young as possible. Her own brother is an example of the damage that was done. Yet Diana was simpered about as a wonderful mother.
For me the wonderful mothers are the ones who work themselves into the ground to provide, do all the care every day and often alone

TheOriginalEmu · 02/05/2025 21:50

Many things that family have done are not a good look and yet there they still are. Maybe it’s time we didn’t have a royal family.

GeorgianaM · 02/05/2025 21:50

He knows anything he says to Harry will be repeated in another book or interview with the sole purpose of lining Harry's pockets.

All of it has been orchestrated by his wife, she who must be obeyed who has cut off her own father.

blueleavesgreensky · 02/05/2025 21:51

blubberyboo · 02/05/2025 21:17

The King has a duty to protect the country. Why would he trust 2 people who sell everything to Netflix?

Besides we don't even know how much they do or don't speak

Protect the country? Hahaaaa.

YesHonestly · 02/05/2025 21:52

The Crown comes before anything and everything.

Harry is a liability. It’s the King’s duty to protect the family and the country, he can’t risk anything he says being repeated in the press or on Netflix.

I am not a royalist and actually quite like Harry and Meghan.

Needspaceforlego · 02/05/2025 21:54

Pancakeflipper · 02/05/2025 21:15

I think once trust breaks down it can be tricky to reconcile.

It's not like your average family - this is a member of the family who seems to continually "sell" family conversations to the media for their own means.

It must be heartbreaking and infuriating. But I guess the sensible option is to step away.

If KC was to be on MN and say what H has done over the last 5 years, we'd probably be telling him NC.

I think that it exactly.
All trust is lost. Charles and William must feel like they are on egg shells round him. What is he going to tell the press next?

Nothing is private to Harry including their private parts. That was quite literally below the belt!

I don’t think Charles is a good man - but I don’t think Harry is either. All they have known is entitlement and it shows.

But selling your family secrets for £££ (or $$$!) isn’t ever going to end well. I wouldn’t trust someone who is known to have a price.

caringcarer · 02/05/2025 21:55

MereNoelle · 02/05/2025 21:17

I assume he’s concerned that if he talks to Harry, Harry will put the conversations in his next book.

That or a Netflix. Harry has proven time and again he can't be trusted. Once William is King I think he'll try to take away Harry & Meghan's HRH titles and maybe Duke and Duchess of Sussex too.
