Why are Kneecap not in prison?

1000 replies

BlossomBlanket · 29/04/2025 19:49

But Lucy Connelly is? Kneecap told people to kill their MPs. Why have they not been arrested.

(To be very clear, I do not condone violence of any kind towards anyone, I'm just asking as this seems like a double standard, can someone explain?)

Because theyre thickos who bit off more than they can chew and are now flapping that their cosplaying is being mocked and scrutinised. Calling out atricocites my arse.

Have you read any of their lyrics? They’re clearly not thick. Or are you just wanting to perpetuate anti Irish stereotypes? Or do you think anyone who is anti genocide is thick?

I think anyone who supports hamas, hezollah and chants kill MPs is thick and unpleasant yes.

I don’t think glorifying terrorism is the way to support Palestinians.

No, refusing to sell arms to, or run spy flights for, Israel is the way to support the Palestinians.
Enforcing international law in the west bank is the way to support the Palestinians. Supporting the arrest warrants on the perpetrators and warmongers is the way to support Palestinians .
insisting on the two state solution or a one diverse state solution is the way to support the Palestinians
Sadly our government refuses to do any of these things.
so showing solidarity by marching, donating, boycotting or - like Kneecap- through artistic statements is all we have left

Gloriia · 30/04/2025 21:24

'Artistic statements' <Grin> aka inciting hate.

Nunaluna’s first contribution to the thread was “why the fuck are the troubles continuallly brought up by people who didn’t live through it”. Will not accept that a) nearly all adults in NI did in fact live through it. B) even if born post ceasefire we are still living in the consequences of it and c) a comparison to English people’s attitude to Germans is hilarious misplaced given Germany was never in control of England, half of the inhabitants aren’t German sympathisers etc etc: bonkers.

my fault for not being able to resist arguing with brits about Ireland.

And she has stayed strangely silent after being shut down over those comments…
Perhaps realised she didn’t have a clue what she was on about.

BTW, I would recommend anyone who wants to k know more to watch a documentary on the BBC called Once Upon a time in Northern Ireland. Then come back and tell us ‘it’s all in the past’

Killing Palestinian kids because they happen to exist in a place they were born in is unpleasant
I like that Kneecap want to say it’s wrong

They don’t have to incite hate. People DO hate what is going on.

BlackForestCake · 30/04/2025 21:43

Why is David Lammy not in prison? There is an international warrant out for the arrest of the far right Israeli foreign minister on charges of genocide. Lammy met him last week and misused his position to protect him.

Kneecap haven't killed anyone. Lammy and Starmer are actively aiding a genocide.

Sadly and horrifically hamas hide among civilians and as it is a conflict people will get killed. It's what happens when you murder people in cold blood at music festivals and take hostages. You do know they took hostages and murdered many of those too?

You can hate conflict without being cheerleaders for hamas.

Yeah it's a bit strange the attention on Kneecap. Sharon Osborne mouthing off about their coachella performance and looking for their visas to be revoked but dead silent on the fact that Ben-Gvir a man actually convicted of supporting terrorists and of racist incitement was given a visa to the US, broke bread with senior members of the Republican Party and gave hate speeches at schools, universities and places of worship. Then suddenly everyone cares about footage from 2 years ago from a band they'd never heard of but no one gives a shit about the British military aiding a man with a warrant out for his arrest for crimes against Humanity. Priorities, priorities eh?!

I don't know much about kneecap apart from they have inspired young people to have more of a grá for the Gaeilge and think that they should probably think before they speak but people frothing at the mouth over this whilst ignoring actual convicted terrorist supporters and support for people with warrants out for their arrest for the very worst crimes, it's hard to take them seriously.

Yes because nothing says "artistic statement of solidarity" like emblazoning FUCK ISRAEL in giant letters across the sky at a music festival full of overprivileged people and influencers. Leaving aside that it's legitimising and inciting hatred of an entire country and its people, where not so long ago hundreds of people were murdered at a music festival by terrorists. There are so many impactful messages they had the opportunity to project but they chose to go with abusive and divisive.

Yes we have all heard about the horror of October 7th
I would argue we hear disproportionately about it in comparison to what was happening in Gaza and the West Bank before and after October 7th. Unlike some, I don’t believe some lives matter more than others. Unlike some, I think atrocities are atrocities whether committed by terrorist groups or rogue states

The Netanyahu regime in Israel is doing more to incite hatred of Israel than any Irish rap band is

What ‘impactful message’ would you suggest they promoted?

Strangely silent as I had 2 kids to pick up and dinner to prepare then baths to run…

I stand by everything I said. Time to stop playing the victim and look to the future! The future is bright, if you let it be.

'Unlike some, I think atrocities are atrocities whether committed by terrorist groups or rogue states'

Surely we all agree on that.

Those kneecap prats could use their platform to promote peace. Not quite as edgy though is it.

Yes but whose peace and what peace? Peace without justice? Peace with settlers?

I second that. Very moving interviews. Also would make them think twice about calling these people bitter and twisted.
