Who here is excited about big, bearded trans men using the women’s toilets? Unintended consequences, anyone?

Very few look like the social media pictures. IRL they're really easy to spot and won't worry me at all in the women's loos.

I honestly think this is a real problem….where do trans women use the toilet?! I think the decision as to what is legally a woman was the only decision that could have been made really, as it’s important to keep women safe in regards hospital wards, women’s refuges etc…it is a worry that some men may take advantage of being given access to female spaces or having a trans woman in a female space might feel intimidating for victims of sexual assault or domestic violence, but it must be hard for say a young trans woman who looks very feminine in determining which loo or changing room to use as they may not be safe in a male are. However I don’t know if I would feel comfortable sharing my changing room etc with everyone. I was talking about it this morning and the thing I keep thinking is that most men could physically overpower a woman which makes me feel uneasy . However I wonder where the government will go with things from here in terms of having accessible spaces for trans women.

This is the world we've allowed transactivists to create by never saying no to them. It won't always be easy but the Supreme Court has clarified what the law actually says (as opposed to Stonewall's version). So now society needs to start unpicking all this and returning to sanity and safety - especially for women and children.

I'm especially keen on removing from schools the adults grooming and gaslighting our young people. The social contagion impacting on young women - to believe that sex change is possible and sending them on this awful journey of experimental drugs and surgery leading to life long ill health - needs to stop now. That's the immediate action needed imho - not fretting about transwomen being told to use the toilets for their biological sex.

TRAs would disagree with you. Medical professionals disagree with you - all the name of inclusion.

Of course TRAs would disagree with me - that's hardly a surprise. How would medical professionals disagree with me?

I am obviously a lone voice here, however I just want to make the point not all women agree with the ruling - I am a woman, by the way in case you wondered. I have friends I care about who will be affected by this, and it makes me sad - and worried for them.

Are you just as sad and worried when it's women who are put at risk or disadvantaged as you are when it's men?

Vulnerable women in women's prisons being banged up for 23 hours a day with male rapists? What about orthodox Jewish or Muslim women who can't go swimming if they have to share a changing room with men? What about the women and children who've been sexually assaulted by trans women in what should be female single sex spaces? The child sexually assaulted by Katie Dolatowski, for example?

99% of sex crimes are carried out by men and transitioning doesn't reduce the risk.

90% of sex offences carried out in changing facilities are perpetrated in mixed sex spaces, and only 10% in single sex ones. So women are put at greatly increased risk when their spaces are open to men, however they identify.

Why are you more sad about the men than the women? Do you not have any compassion for women and children? Or want to protect them from harm?

MissDoubleU · 22/04/2025 14:30

I just want one person to tell me how they are going to police this, exactly? Because that’s where this is going. In fact, that’s where this IS. During the recent trans rights protest in Edinburgh they had security outside the train station toilets asking for ID.

There are plenty of trans men who would not be allowed into a women’s toilet without first proving they do indeed have a vulva. And do you really trust the police when arresting trans men not to physically examine these individuals against their will to determine what they have?

Youmeanyouvelostyourkey · 22/04/2025 14:12

My son was born female. He wants to live his life as male but is stuck in an ever growing waiting list so is stuck in the unhappy place that no one wants him. He currently looks more female than male so has to use female toilets. If you knew, you wouldn’t be happy, and if he went in the male toilets, they won’t be happy.

If your son was born female then he is a biological woman and is welcome in the women's toilets. Why are you saying 'no one wants him'? That's quite nonsensical hyperbole. There's no need for your son to use the men's toilets.

ArtTheClown · 22/04/2025 14:31

They did not. This was a lie spread by India Willoughby.

ghostyslovesheets · 22/04/2025 14:32

In my life, for the past 40 years, I have managed to work with, share spaces with even share tents with women including lesbian and bisexual women. - without issue so I have no worries about sharing spaces with transmen aka women

and all this ‘androgyny’ balls - I used to have a number 1 on top, never wore makeup and lived in jeans and Docs - no one ever confused me with a bloke it’s such a straw man argument

Well, thankfully you don't get to make decisions on behalf of the majority of women.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 22/04/2025 14:32

What a wonderful campaign to get behind. Hopefully all the males on my social media telling all the women how trans women are no risk will follow suit and be more inclusive.

@hopspot i think if it’s say a young very feminine looking trans woman they may be at risk of bullying etc in a men’s toilet or changing area, as some people can be transphobic. That being said, I feel that women also deserve their own safe spaces too and if I’m being honest I don’t know if I would like to share my work changing room etc with all trans women….as it may be perfectly fine but some men may take advantage. It’s a grey area.

It's not a grey area and it's not down to how you feel. Since last Wednesday it's the law. Women's loos are for women. Men's loos are for men. Two sexes at birth, male and female, and you remain male or female for life.

Waitingfordoggo · 22/04/2025 14:33

Youmeanyouvelostyourkey · 22/04/2025 14:26

He won’t be happy using a female toilets as he doesn’t see himself as female. That’s the flaming point.

once he does transition, And looks male, sounds male etc, Will you still be happy with him in the female toilets then?

Edited

‘Won’t be happy’ isn’t any sort of actual harm or violence though, is it? Lots of people don’t like using public toilets at all for a variety of reasons, but most accept that it is something one sometimes has to do and just gets on with it.

No offence to your child, but them feeling sad is neither here nor there to most people. No one wants your child to come to harm, but the anxiety caused by their mental illness is not a reason to get the rest of society to change its safeguarding laws. People with anorexia and OCD can also have a great deal of difficulty using public spaces because of their conditions, but the rest of the world does not rearrange itself to make the ill person feel better.

There are literally posts on this thread full of people saying that her son would not be welcome in the women's bathroom if he looks sufficiently masculine.

Of course no one can explain where the threshold is reached for being 'sufficiently masculine'.

FiveBarGate · 22/04/2025 14:33

There's always a massive queue for the ladies in comparison to men's.

Let's have women and unisex then. We keep being told it's just us feminists who have the issue so that should satisfy everyone.

It has, but so has the idea that humans can change sex, facts don't stop them!

EvolvedAlready · 22/04/2025 14:35

Its not true trans people who have transitioned that most woman have an issue with.
Its’s the man who wears a dress and then says they identify as a woman having the rights to a woman’s space. That’s what this law protects. Unfortunately a law can’t differentiate between true trans woman and men dressed as woman. If they have rights to woman’s spaces, then cross dressers would have the same rights. It’s those weirdos that are likely higher risk.

It’s complex definitely. As women we’ve been socialised to try and look after people. For me, it boils down to anyone with a penis is not welcome in women’s spaces. I don’t deny trans women also deserve a safe space, they absolutely do. But it shouldn’t come at the expense of women and their safety. A third space should be embraced.

I was In Sainsburys toilets last week at 7pm. The lighting is awful and the toilets are located in a quiet corner of the store. As I walked in, a small elderly lady was at the sink supported by a stick. She looked at me in fear as I entered and then smiled in relief. I recognise that look. It’s the feeling that makes me quickly check all the cubicles before choosing one, or makes me quickly wipe my hands on my jeans rather than using a dryer as it’s quicker. Women deserve to have spaces away from potential threats of men. I say this as an able bodied young women. I have to speak to those more vulnerable than me.

For every masculine looking beardy transman, there are hundreds of teenage girls in binders that you would be putting in the male toilets.

Before you use a group to point score, it's worth looking more closely at the actual group.

um - the teenage girls in binders can use the ladies. As they’re women.

WallaceinAnderland · 22/04/2025 14:36

Why are some people arguing that biological females are perfectly safe in men's toilets but biological males are not?

What is the logic to that reason being put forward that biological men need to use spaces reserved for biological women but biological women do not need the same protection?

FigTreeInEurope · 22/04/2025 14:37

I read so much now that i misread this as " Labour say tradesmen should use the mens toilet". Which seemed like over-reach.

We need to go back to respecting the social contract - where citizens accepted society's rules (like women's toilets being for women) without needing a police officer standing over them. Transactivists have made it their life's work to overturn this glue that holds society together - imposing queer theory on an unconsenting public.

It'll be hard for transactivists as they've never been told no before. Just look at the emotionally incontinent amd abusive responses to the Supreme Court's clarification of the law.

But to accept the law and that others have equal rights is the hallmark of a democratic society so they're just going to have to learn to follow the rules

This makes me sad - do we really want transwomen to have to use men's toilets, and transmen to have to use women's toilets? This will put transwomen at risk - I hate the hysteria that has arisen over this issue.

Transwomen are men and so should use the men's toilets. Women's toilets are single sex only. Women don't exist to protect men who choose to dress up and identify as women. Let men deal with their own problems.
