If that’s true which I’m sceptical about it’s irrelevant. (Please show evidence of this).

Still doesn’t mean men should be in women’s prisons.

Its whataboutery. Any assault is awful and wrong. But it still doesn’t justify men in women’s spaces.

It is in the sexual assault data and this has been the case for years.

Of course you can. I truly think you are deluded and / or looking through rose tinted glasses, isn't your own partner a trans man? or have I remembered that wrong?

Yes, you've remembered that wrong. But you aren't the first to make the accusation. A cousin through my husband is a trans woman, and on my side two cousins are trans men (yes, I have A LOT of cousins, over 50 of them). All have been trans for over 15 years. I have a friend who I have known for 30 years who has been a trans woman for that entire length of time. I worked with her, and none of the department realised she was trans before she told us a few months into her time with us, even though we had all received a letter saying a trans woman (not the language used at the time) would be sharing our facilities.

justteanbiscuits · 22/04/2025 16:56

I mentioned toilets in response to others.

Just change it to "womens only spaces" in your head.

I'm someone who has got off her arse to make changes and protect women. Not just sat on the internet bullying like so many on here. I'm someone who wants to find a solution that will stop biological women being accused of being trans because some twats on the internet decide they are - however much people on here / twitter etc tell themselves I am lying to make themselves feel better. I have trans men and trans women in my friendships groups, and as family. I think fair discussions without name calling is possible to find a safe solution for everyone. I'm personally not willing to accept the "collateral damage is acceptable" idea.

The Supreme Court has resolved the misunderstandings

So there’s no more need for confusion then.

If there is likely to be collateral damage Stonewall and the Trans community need to find a solution that is within the law. I wish them well!

You have described a man. There are no biological women who have a male skeleton, male skull structure and male hormones enough to grow a big bushy beard.

large hands on a women are still much smaller than male hands. I have large hands but my middle finger is the length of my husbands little finger. Large feet on a women would be a 9- my teenage son is already at 10.5.

My hands and feet are bigger than my brother in laws. There are plenty of dark haired women with a slight moustache (or would be without waxing) and women with thinning hair in the male pattern because of hairstyle trends.
There are a fair few trans people coming through now who - rightly or wrongly have been on puberty blockers and would not have developed secondary sexual characteristics of the gender they were born as before having hormones to develop into the opposite gender.
Roll in the days of individual cubicles with washing facilities (that would also make it easier for mums with small sons and dads with small daughters)

Splendid. Well done, Bridget for holding your ground against the hordes of women's rights haters.
Let them have it.

It's fantasy on your part. Almost zero transwomen pass to females, because it's hardwired into us as a survival instinct to spot a man. Men don't have that same survival instinct. Hence why they don't have the same skill. This is basic Sociological knowledge.

Is that true? That would explain A LOT. I had no idea there was a difference

Cannot wait for Labour to come calling at my door for the local elections.

I want to ask him if my aunt has balls does that make her my uncle.

A better question might be if my aunt becomes my uncle could she/ he inherit any titles that she/he was next in line for.

They specifically ruled trans men, FtM, out of male inheritance rules.

Trans rights activism was and still is pure male misogyny, aided and abetted by Britain’s class system. Best dust off the suffragette ribbons. Women have been under attack by men and men’s law, as they have been pushed aside for centuries. Hopefully this puts a dent in it.

Ah, OK.

So, people that aren't allowed to use women's toilets:

Trans women
Trans men
Women 6ft and over who might, under certain lights, look a little masculine

Er no. Transmen are women, they're female, so of course they're welcome to use the womens' loos. They don't have penises. The penis is the problem!

They're not statistically more likely to be dangerous. They're often mixed-up women who were sold a lie that they could change sex, instead of being given therapy and acceptance.

Yes, we know this.

But if men are dressing as women and claiming they are trans to gain access to women's spaces, imagine how much easier it will be for them to say they are a trans man.

FlakyCritic · 22/04/2025 17:23

MissDoubleU · 22/04/2025 17:08

I really do think most people on here form their opinions without actively engaging in any way with the trans community. Many people who are trans are not out publicly and I’ll say it again, you would never know. This includes trans men who by your definition should be protected. Would you feel comfortable seeing Leo Macallan in your single sex toilet? And would you feel better if he said “Don’t worry, I do have a vagina.”
https://www.instagram.com/reel/DHlndkhsjqM/?igsh=dXdmNnh4Y2RiMDN2

Men being able to walk into the ladies and say “don’t worry, I’m actually a trans man. Promise I don’t have a penis!” doesn’t make me feel safe as a woman or as a rape and DA survivor.

Many of us have personal experience with narcissistic transwomen, HENCE why we turned 'terf'. It's a strange assumption that we don't have experience. Get to know a transwoman they said. We did. We're now 'terf'. Quickest way to turn 'terf'. Besides, we don't need to engage with males to know males don't belong in female spaces.

I genuinely believe the naive people who defend transwomen have never even ever met a transwoman so their fantasy image of them is not based in actual reality.

lifeturnsonadime · 22/04/2025 17:07

You came on this thread claiming you wanted equality for all.

And now your on to the the most used TRA trope of the thread. The mythical 6ft bearded trans woman.

Why lie to start with? You might as well just have owned your position on this from the start.

I think you mean trans man. A six foot trans man is not mythical - I know one. He’s 6’1” actually and he has a full beard. I do want equality for all. Where did I say I didn’t? What are you actually on about? Most trans men have a much easier time “passing” as bio men than trans women have “passing” as bio women. Being 6 ft and having a beard is reeeally not that mythical. All it takes is tall genes and hormones. I know plenty of trans men. For most of them it’s completely impossible to tell that they weren’t born male. That was my point - that a PP’s simplistic idea of “bio women belong in women’s spaces and bio men belong in men’s spaces” isn’t going to solve their problem.

It’s so obvious so many small-minded people on here don’t know any trans people IRL, or even people with differing opinions to their own. They clearly only associate with people who reinforce their own opinions. Open your minds and get out of your comfort zones people. The world is changing fast like it or not. Trans people ain’t going away. Your kid might be trans one day. Do you really want to be their first experience of transphobia?

AnSolas · 22/04/2025 17:24

MissDoubleU · 22/04/2025 14:30

I just want one person to tell me how they are going to police this, exactly? Because that’s where this is going. In fact, that’s where this IS. During the recent trans rights protest in Edinburgh they had security outside the train station toilets asking for ID.

There are plenty of trans men who would not be allowed into a women’s toilet without first proving they do indeed have a vulva. And do you really trust the police when arresting trans men not to physically examine these individuals against their will to determine what they have?

1 ) social contract
You (generic random "you") know you are not allowed into SSS as you are not of that sex so you do not enter into the SSS.

If you are the type of person who will go in anyway the individual who is lawfully using the SSS can call the police.

And the police can record the incident and then opt charge you with an offence if they feel it is for the public good.

  1. The police Oddly enough police men as a total sex group were not lobbying the police authority to have the right to strip search women or people they think may be women.

That was the TRAs who pushed for a policy change where TW to be able to opt out on the basis of sex (pre 2000 sh) without harming their career to being obliged to carry out the search role on the basis of gender.

So ...

At the moment under the current UK policing rules any male officer or female officer who says she is a man can do a full 'hold the transman down using as many "men" as they deem necessary to safely and forcefully remove clothing' search as part of arresting her.

So this is a good thing or should it be changed?

This policy is due to the police unlawfully writing policy based on gender feelings not sex.

If the police continue to ignore the EA any TM who is arrested can be treated a man/male.

Once the police change the policy and are given proper training they could be lawfully sacked and criminally charged with an assault and sued in a personal capacity.

I was talking about 6ft + cis women, not trans women, who are often mistaken and falsely accused of being trans women. Sometimes this is a seemingly harmless assumption, sometimes it is more. I’ve been out and had the “oh is your friend Trans” type comments, while they’ve had “you look lovely and pass very well” given to them as a misplaced but well meaning compliment.

That's nonsense. Being 6ft tall doesn't make a woman look masculine, it makes her look like a tall woman.

The News Agents podcast last week talked about this. It annoyed me as Lewis Goodall, who I usually love listening to, likened it to a media hysteria. His suggestions were
a) that most trans identifying people wouldn't go to the lengths of dressing as a women to rape etc, that this isn't fair on most trans people who want to just live and
b) that most people (women inc) were live and let live, and this was all a big media hysteria. He quoted some survey that the general British public weren't too bothered about the toilets thing, just the males in sport thing.

Until Emily Maitlis had to point out his faulty logic: the bad actors use trans-identification to exploit the loophole that is female-only access. Honestly. Goodall needs to take some A-Level lessons in logic and fallacious arguments. I wish journalists would stop hiding behind the yawn some 'media hysteria' defence. It's incredibly important to a lot of mainstream women; to lesbians, to women of faith groups, to survivors of DV etc etc. The reason these views don't seem to be represented in mainstream media (and therefore it must only be a hysterical few!) is the bloody point Lewis - these women were threatened, socially ostracised, name-called and taken to court.

And yet the prison service itself cautioned against allowing men into women's prisons because most people have no idea what pengths some men will go to in order to gain access to women.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 22/04/2025 17:26

justteanbiscuits · 22/04/2025 17:22

And you are ridiculously naïve if you think this will stop innocent people being accused.

I’m still not sure why you think that just because you think there are so many women who get
mistaken for men, even after opening their mouth and speaking (think all confusion would be wrapped up around this point), this should be a reason to allow biological males into women’s spaces/toilets?

Hairyesterdaygonetoday · 22/04/2025 17:26

Flamingoknees · 22/04/2025 16:33

Surely there's no way of policing the use of toilets anyway. How can you prove a transwoman, entering the ladies toilets, is a man?

Every transwoman is a man. Being male is the only criterion for being a transwoman.

The SC judgement is perfectly clear. Our own eyes and instincts are usually pretty clear.

It’s justified fear or unjustified politeness that stops women barring the way to intrusive men. This should become easier and safer to do now, as long as cowardly politicians don’t undermine the law.

Women certainly would not want just individual cubicles that can be used by everyone.
They do not protect us from men who install cameras in them.
No women wants themselves splashed all over the internet naked and peeing Thankyou very much.

Women only spaces is the only answer to this sort of perversion.

Fun fact: Women in prison are more likely to sexually assault one another than men are. Rates of sexual assault are highest in women’s prisons. Nothing to do with trans people.

Fun fact. If you keep male prisoners out of womens prisons the number of rapes commited by prisoners in womens Prisons will be zero

there may be some women who have bigger hands and feet but very much in the minority. There is always an overlap of the bell curves between men and women but it is very rare compared to the general population. Your BIL sounds like they have smaller hands than average and you have larger. That is just chance.

im sorry but using women who have a slight ‘moustache’ as evidence is ridiculous. Everyone knows women have hair on the face and for some women it can be darker. It is nothing at all like a man’s moustache. That is hugely insulting to those women and I’ve never ever thought a women with a bit of darker lip hair are men.

and no, women with thinning hair never lose it in a way that men lose it. Male pattern baldness is called that because it is only applicable to males. Women do get thinning hair but it doesn’t happen in the same way- usually it thins all over.
