Squeak squeak burrow burrow. Is that a ferret reversing?

Use men’s or women’s toilets based on biological sex, minister says

I presume this means that trans men should now use the womens toilets.

How will you tell whether someone is a 'biological' man, or a transman?

Can you read the thread before making the same non-point many have made - and been answered on - before?

Very happy with boundaries, thanks. He and also don’t have a sense of entitlement any more than the rest of you. In my first post, I said that everyone has the right to feel safe etc. everyone should be equal. What’s entitled about that?

But we’re not equal, men kill women at a rate of 3 per week in this country, that’s why we want to keep ALL men out of our spaces. Identifying into a sex class isn’t a right and the SC ruling has just clarified that. Your entitlement stems from clearly believing that the rules don’t apply to you or your child. But they do.

Sadly you won’t find many people on mumsnet who care at all for the safety of trans people despite ons figures showing trans people are twice as likely to be assaulted as cis people. Or despite the fact that women are actually assaulted by men not transgender women. And now men can walk into women’s toilets and if challenged can claim they are trans. No one is safer now but that will never be accepted by mumsnet

Why does your 'care for trans people' mean that women have to bend? Why don't you lobby men to do some bending here given that transwomen (who you're actually concerned about, not transmen), are men - why aren't you doing that?

Helleofabore · 22/04/2025 16:30

FlakyCritic · 22/04/2025 16:20

So you'd be happy with a man seeing another woman miscarry in this toilets? As has happened to women on occasion. Wash/dry out blood-stained underwear? Rinse a mooncup? Adjust our bras and clothes at the sink? Really? Females also flee to the womens to escape men. As a rape survivor, I am not happy with a male seeing ANY part of the bodily and sometimes traumatic bodily functions females go through in that female only space and thank goodness 'I'm right Jack, stuff you' women like you don't have the right to give my consent away.

Edited

There are times Flaky that I wonder how the fuck I have been living so wrongly that I seem to be one of the only women in the world who has leaked through nursing pads, been vomited on, spilled food on (including by myself), and had no available family sized toilets or didn't have any support at home so had to walk /bus to get groceries with a pram / pushchair with a fractious reflux baby.

I just thought that I was living a pretty normal life for a major city. But... obviously I was just living life wrong because some people seem to have avoided all that messy complexity.

Is Beth Upton not a GMC registered doctor?

You're being disingenuous. You said TRAs and medical professionals would disagree with me, but Dr Beth Upton would disagree with me because she's a TRA, not because she's a doctor. Now, as I previously asked you, give me the names of medics whose gender ID is aligned with their biological sex who would disagree with me.

How did you know if someone was a transwoman or just a regular male?

Whatareyouon · 22/04/2025 16:31

@justteanbiscuits its obvious 😄

TeenagersAngst · 22/04/2025 16:31

RedWhite · 22/04/2025 16:26

I get what you’re saying but the vast majority of the population absolutely know what the definition of biological sex is.

I agree some people will see it as ‘subjective’ but they are a tiny minority, in the same way a tiny minority believe the earth is flat. They have their beliefs, regardless of the facts, but they’ll still argue their point. It’s the same situation here, the vast majority of people know you can’t change sex.

Of course the vast majority of the population know. They always have. This SC ruling hasn’t changed anything in that regard. I’m hopeful that now it has the rubber stamp of the SC, the volume of the TRA cacophony can be muted somewhat. But I’m also dubious.

JemimaTiggywinkles · 22/04/2025 16:32

In my first post, I said that everyone has the right to feel safe etc. everyone should be equal. What’s entitled about that?

What exactly does "feel safe" mean though? Because if it means being allowed to transgress other people's boundaries then that is absolutely not a right. Which is EXACTLY what the supreme court clarified last week.

justteanbiscuits · 22/04/2025 16:31

Well, now you know the answer to your question is there it’s surely worth a scroll back to find it? If you really are interested?

From now on thankfully if I wish to be treated by a woman Dr this person won’t be sent to treat me - again despite his arguments the law says different

Transmen are women. So yeah, I have no problem with them being in women's spaces.

I will tell who is a man or a woman the same way most people always have. and which has worked perfectly well for years. and works fine in other countries.

No need for all this unnecessary navelgazing and twisting oneself into a pretzel.

Flamingoknees · 22/04/2025 16:33

Surely there's no way of policing the use of toilets anyway. How can you prove a transwoman, entering the ladies toilets, is a man?

lifeturnsonadime · 22/04/2025 16:33

Astounding how many people are arguing, on a site predominately for women and mothers, for men to have more rights than women.

The Supreme Court didn't change anything it just stated what we all knew anyway.

That trans women are men.

And following on from that they should not be and should never have been in single sex spaces for women.

It's disgraceful really. All those people more worried about the mens' feelings than the safety and dignity of women and girls.

With my eyes, the same as I, and every other woman has been doing for millennia.

Whatareyouon · 22/04/2025 16:31

@justteanbiscuits its obvious 😄

is it? Really? because, no it isn't.

And if everyone can "just tell", please explain the abuse a female friend of mine (who happens to be 6ft tall and skinny with big boobs) has received on multiple occasions. Please explain why a bunch of high profile anti-trans campaigners tried to wreck the life of another friend, doxing her and her children (which she gave birth to vaginally) because they "could just tell".

TheKeatingFive · 22/04/2025 16:34

PlanetJanette · 22/04/2025 16:27

How often do you take your birth certificate with you when you use a toilet?

Oh please, don't be so tedious.

Everyone knows what sex they are.

Everyone needs to respect the law and respect other people.

Please explain how women are being raped in prisons by violent men who pretend to be women.

Ah yes you are so right this rightwinger has a history of oh

collecting food out side Safeway for the miners
actively campaigning against section 28
working for rape crisis for 10+ years
working to support AIDS and HIV charities
fundraising for Refuge
marching to reclaim the night, against the war in Iraq, against the poll tax
was at Greenham

totally a right wing bigot - honestly what a lame argument

I don’t get the “women’s safety is a right wing issue” thing. Are they saying the left wing don’t care about women’s safety? Seriously?

The same way we can tell that a trans woman is male. There are hundreds of subtle clues that our senses perceive when determining sex.
Admittedly, looking at photos online, some trans men do pass remarkably well facially. But their stature gives them away, their hips, their small hands, their gait and mannerisms, and almost certainly their voice. Those whose voice has been deepened with cross sex hormones have a tell tale “frog like” voice. So it’s deeper than a woman’s, but very distinct from a real man’s.

They came here because they knew it was full of women arguing for their rights. Even while they pretend they don't know what a woman is.

Oh it’s a bit more than toilets - pretty sure places like the NHS and HMPS will know what sex someone is when places them on wards or in prison
