I'll go first 😆

-Kids sharing rooms
-Complaining about schools or teachers
-Feeling upset about a friend hurting you
-Having more than 1 kid on an income under circa 50-100k, or having more than two on an income under circa 100-150k
-Renting long term
Complaining about dogs being given human rights.
Complaining about grandparents care of DC's 'because it's free so like it or lump it!'

Easy then. Doesn’t ever, never need to be discussed or mentioned or debated on MN or anywhere then….

(In case women might get accused of thinking trans people shouldn’t ‘exist’ or that we are ‘negative’ for being gaslighted, sacked and silenced about our rights, safety and dignity being given away to men and scolded and told to stfu...)

But hey ho. We can all sing kumbya and live happily now that’s cleared up.

I think you are proving the original posters point

Yeah I find this ridiculous too. Unless the dh is a brain surgeon or air traffic controller they can help at night! A sahm shouldn’t have to be on call 247 when the person working gets complete rest at home.

I did do that with DH i did every night waking with my 2 (although was breastfeeding and couldn't express, so he wouldn't have been able to do 'nightfeeds' as such anyway) but I didn't want him driving tired on limited or broken sleep- for his sake or others- and he does have a manual physical job.I was able to sleep in the day when baby slept if I needed to.

  1. Blaming Karens for everything when there are Karens in Myanmar who are already a much-maligned minority group.
  2. If you're a single mother than you should have 'sourced' your man a bit better.
CodandChipz · 27/04/2025 10:08

I didn’t wake DH at night, he did do evenings and early mornings for me instead so I had uninterrupted sleep then.

Enjoying anything other than a very mundane and basic sex life. Anything out of the ordinary is viewed as ‘disgusting’, ‘gross’ and ‘a result of porn’.

Men with ED - they don’t have a medical problem and deserve love and patience - they must wank too hard to the hours and hours of porn they’re watching.

I came here to say this. Mumsnet is so weirdly negative about sex in general.

Also disapproved of: enjoying looking at men’s bodies or noticing a man’s physical attractiveness unless you are having, or are hoping for, a relationship with them. On Mumsnet, you are not allowed to think ‘Phwoaarr’ in passing solely because a man looks beautiful.

It is also specifically disapproved of to particularly enjoy seeing a man’s genitals, including those of one’s own partner.

Thepeopleversuswork · 27/04/2025 11:01

Gentle parenting (actually mislabeling permissive parenting).
Dogs
Sex after you have children unless you put a tarpaulin over the bed and do it after midnight
Working full time once you have children (don’t you know you never get the time back?)
Homework at primary school
Friends (too much “drama”)

I’m 🤣 at the tarpaulin

Well, dogs aren’t human so why should they be given human rights??

Absolutely, and god help the men who actually TELL a woman, in a perfectly normal way, that they fancy them - how dare the bastard objectify you 🙄

Think I got that the wrong way round in my OP- what I MEANT to say was it's sometimes frowned upon when someone says dogs shouldn't have the same rights as humans....especially if you dare to state that children might be better behaved than some dogs...shock horror! 🙈

Having adult sons or daughters who still live with their parents pay any rent, keep, or contribute to the household in any form. Even if said offspring are about 45 and earning 100K. They didn’t ask to be born afterall! And parenting doesn’t just end at 18!

Bizarre! And so unlike the real world.

Totally. There seems to be one poster who pops up on every thread where someone is asking how much rent to charge their DC and says something like 'Absolutely nothing! I could never charge my DC to live in their own home!' You can practically hear the pearls being clutched.

One thing that annoyed me was the thread called "AIBU to think it's weird to charge children rent?". And like what's the thread is moot because some people can't afford not to charge rent

Conkersinautumn · 02/05/2025 13:50

So, in conclusion. There's a range of people and opinions.

Yep. Some people do need to check their privilege.

The thread about David Beckham has reminded me that Mumsnet also disapproves of tattoos. Not just in a ‘They’re not for me’ or ‘I don’t find them attractive’ type way, but in a really weird, extreme ‘they’re repulsive and moronic and make it look you’re dirty and decomposing’ type way.

Also the thread where it was suggested that if a woman has tattoos and body piercings it’s fair to assume she must be a BDSM porn star.

Actually we might as well just add ‘other people’s bodies’ to the list of things Mumsnet disapproves of.

Agreed. And clothes/school run outfits. There is always so much judgement from people who hide behind keyboards, I'd love to see what they wear 😂
