I got injured on a dog meet up

A few months ago I met up with a woman on a dog breed Facebook page - idea was that we would walk our dogs together /potentially start up a friendship. That walk went well and I thought the woman was lovely, we messaged back and forth after that and arranged to meet up again yesterday.

We met at a local forest. Both dogs have great recall so we let them off lead for a play. Everything going great until I tripped over a vine and fell to the ground. This sent her dog absolutely crazy who then began lunging at me and barking - I went to get up and the dog bounced off me and knocked me down again. I expected a bit of assistance but this woman was doubled over in stitches laughing. I asked her to grab her dog and she half heartedly called her dog who began making its way back to her, I started to get up at which point her dog turned around and came flying back towards me, my dog then got excited and went to get involved before both dogs knock into me and I go tumbling down a big hill. My arm was scratched to pieces and this woman was laughing so much she could barely talk. I shouted up at her that I’ve hurt my arm and she needs to get her dog. She recalled her dog. At this point I realised she was filming the whole thing and I also realised I had damaged my hip and was finding it difficult to stand up.

long story short, I used my dog to drag me up the hill. I cut the wall short as in lots of pain. She messaged me later and asked how I was so I said I was battered and bruised. She then said “if it makes you feel any better, you’re going viral on TikTok. I can’t believe she would do that! I’ve not even looked on TikTok as I’m far too embarrassed.

I need a well thought out message to send back - or do I just leave it??!

I’d be tempted to report out of control dog to the police, you can use the TikTok video as evidence. Then block.

OPs dog was also out of control.

Are you a character in Last of the Summer Wine?

Are you the arsehole woman described in the post?

Are you the arsehole woman described in the post?

Possibly. There are quite a few of us on MN.

TonTonMacoute · 21/04/2025 17:21

Three options

  1. ignore any future messages and never contact her, and forget it

  2. let her know that you are extremely unimpressed by her behaviour In firstly, not helping you and secondly posting your fall on SM

  3. tell her you are going to show the police the TikTok post, and report her for her dog being out of control.

How much time do you want to spend on this, at the end of the day? She doesn't seem like she has friend potential tbh. IIWY I'd forget the whole thing and move on.

Sounds like the incident was yesterday

Yes. The original meeting was a few months ago, but this incident was yesterday.

How badly injured are you? Is there has been a loss (ie you have to have someone to walk your dog, you have to take taxis places because you can't walk, you have lost income because you are sick) you potentially have a claim. You asked her to control her dog and she did not. Do get your hip checked out properly. It is possible to walk on a fractured him.

OP says her own dog pushed her over too.

Me too 😂

You both sound delightful. Bet you both enjoy pulling the legs out of spiders just for 'a bit of fun'

GoPissGirl · 21/04/2025 17:53

Download the tiktok video and show it to the police
Her and her dog are menaces

ElaineBurdock · 21/04/2025 17:58

Some horrible people find people falling and getting hurt hilarious.

Videos come up on FB reels of people, and sometimes horses, having very nasty sometimes fatal accidents, and in the comments people are saying they laughed so hard they almost passed out. They are very nasty stupid people.

Sorry what happened to you. I'm disabled can't get up without help when I fall down.

weareallalittlebitthesame · 21/04/2025 18:09

This is awful!! 😮 it’s all bad behaviour from her but it goes from childish and insensitive to disgusting, rude and just horrible when you fell down the hill and she filmed you whilst laughing 😱

ToWhitToWhoo · 21/04/2025 17:22

I know, I think a few have misread thinking the incident was a few months ago

RobertaFirmino · 21/04/2025 18:15

I can't find the humour in someone falling over. There's just nothing funny about it to me. That's why 'Miranda' was a pile of crap.
I would have no hesitation in going ballistic at this woman. I'd go apeshit. This really isn't on.

Booboobagins · 21/04/2025 18:23

She hardly knows you and did this? She's no friend. What a hateful thing to do.

If you're going to block her anyway and report the post, I'd probably tell her exactly what I think of her behaviour.

Hope you heal quickly xxx

Empress13 · 21/04/2025 18:55

What a total bitch ! I would block and never contact her again.

As much as I understand what you are saying who on earth would she claim against and how would she prove it

WhoisRebecca · 21/04/2025 18:59

I would play dumb and say ‘oh really? Wow where’s the video - I need to see that!’ And then you’ve evidence of her dog attacking you for the police.

JorgyPorgy · 21/04/2025 19:01

Tell her you’re suing her for your injuries

XenoBitch · 21/04/2025 18:05

So much for (wo)man's best friend
OPs dog is a traitor 🐕 🤷‍♀️

KrisAkabusi · 21/04/2025 19:25

Other than ignore her or tell her to fuck off if she contacts you again, I don't think there's much else you can do. If you go to the police about an out of control dog, you'll have to admit your own dog was out of control too. And you don't need permission to film anyone in a public place, so you have no right to make her delete any footage.
She's an arsehole, but you know that now, so don't have anything to do with her in future.

BogRollBOGOF · 21/04/2025 22:14

The difference is OP's dog was hyped by the other dog's behaviour and OP was temporarily incapitated by the fall which made it harder to manage her dog. OP will have been less fearful about her dog's behaviour than the lesser known dog.

OP's dog's behaviour was not intimidating a 3rd party.

The "friend" was slow to recall her dog, failed to do it effectively at first and to add literal insult to injury filmed and publicised the footage rather than being helpful.

Exasperated24 · 21/04/2025 23:47

SilenceInside · 21/04/2025 09:30

Actually if this was a few months ago I’d just block her and move on.

Can you read?

uncomfortablydumb60 · 22/04/2025 00:06

I’m sorry. The filming would really upset me
Juvenile and nasty of the woman you thought was a friend.
She didn’t even help you up?
I would try to help a stranger.
Definitely message her
