I got injured on a dog meet up

A few months ago I met up with a woman on a dog breed Facebook page - idea was that we would walk our dogs together /potentially start up a friendship. That walk went well and I thought the woman was lovely, we messaged back and forth after that and arranged to meet up again yesterday.

We met at a local forest. Both dogs have great recall so we let them off lead for a play. Everything going great until I tripped over a vine and fell to the ground. This sent her dog absolutely crazy who then began lunging at me and barking - I went to get up and the dog bounced off me and knocked me down again. I expected a bit of assistance but this woman was doubled over in stitches laughing. I asked her to grab her dog and she half heartedly called her dog who began making its way back to her, I started to get up at which point her dog turned around and came flying back towards me, my dog then got excited and went to get involved before both dogs knock into me and I go tumbling down a big hill. My arm was scratched to pieces and this woman was laughing so much she could barely talk. I shouted up at her that I’ve hurt my arm and she needs to get her dog. She recalled her dog. At this point I realised she was filming the whole thing and I also realised I had damaged my hip and was finding it difficult to stand up.

long story short, I used my dog to drag me up the hill. I cut the wall short as in lots of pain. She messaged me later and asked how I was so I said I was battered and bruised. She then said “if it makes you feel any better, you’re going viral on TikTok. I can’t believe she would do that! I’ve not even looked on TikTok as I’m far too embarrassed.

I need a well thought out message to send back - or do I just leave it??!

It does sort of sound funny, until you hurt yourself obviously.
She should not have put it on social media that’s a step too far, I’d kill her.
Hope you’re ok OP.

flowertoday · 21/04/2025 15:35

I don't understand how people are saying that people falling over is instinctively funny. It really isn't, you have to be a certain kind of person to find that funny.
So sorry this has happened to you OP . What a horrible juvenile woman. What kind of a moron would film someone being hurt by their dog and then post it.
Send her a message and then block and move on. Hopefully you can find someone less stupid / feral to go walking with .

BobbyBiscuits · 21/04/2025 15:36

How awful. If I was her I would've been trying to help you. I hope you're not seriously hurt. I have osteoporosis and I get so scared about falling.

You seem to not know what "instinctively" means.

It’s not when you’re the one being hurt.

Empathy and compassion goes a long way.

Youll learn that when you’ll need someone to extend that grace towards you.

Edited

I've been laughed at when I've fallen over loads of times. I'm not offended, because the people laughing also offer assistance.

I laugh at myself when I fall over, even if it hurts.

Why does everyone take themselves so seriously? I once fell over at a dinosaur park in Tenby half way around a trail, while racing our young DS to a stegosaurus. DP had to help me up which was made much harder by both of us being weak with laughter. I had to limp the rest of the way on his arm. It's a happy memory.

Good for you.
Unfortunately you’re not the OP, weren’t badly hurt and no one was videoing it to post on TikTok.
So your input is completely irrelevant.

Mothership4two · 21/04/2025 15:42

I can honestly say I have never found falling over funny (especially when I've hurt myself) either when I have done it or watching others - other than pratt falls on TV (and even then)

Hwi · 21/04/2025 15:46

What an unpleasant moron that woman is!

ThatWildMintSloth · 21/04/2025 15:47

Gosh this is awful, what a horrible woman she is. Hopefully its a bad joke that she has put it on tiktok.
I'd send a message saying something like "I dont know you well enough to know if you actually would put it on tiktok but if so please do take it down. I don't think you realised but I really did injure myself yesterday and am in alot of pain since. Going forward, I dont think that i'll be meeting you for another walk again. All the best."
I hope you're ok OP, sending hugs

Everyone's input is irrelevant, not just mine.

I'm here defending claims that I have a low IQ and am cruel. I just find falls funny, I don't lack empathy and would absolutely help, I would maybe just be laughing as I did so.

ChilledBeez · 21/04/2025 15:59

What a horrible person she is. Her actions have displayed who she is. I have a dog and I cannot imagine laughing at a situation like this let alone filming it. I would be upset about it. If it were me I would strike her off your friend list. She's not a nice person and should have assisted you rather than laughing and filming you.

LizzieVereker · 21/04/2025 16:06

I can’t understand grown adults who behave like this. But then I can’t understand why any grow adults have TikTok at all 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Klozza · 21/04/2025 16:09

I can’t imagine filming my best friend in a situation like that, let alone someone I’ve only met a couple of times. Laughing is one thing, but to get your phone out and film it to put online is shit. She sounds a bit of a dick

DisabledDemon · 21/04/2025 16:24

Rude and nasty. This woman sounds distinctly unhinged.

Yellowsunbeams · 21/04/2025 16:33

I would ask her to take down the video and block her forever. There is no point remonstrating with her - this is who and what she is. And before somebody suggests ASD, I have a lot of ASD family members and none of them would behave like this. She is simply a deeply unpleasant woman. I hope you are feeling better soon. 💐

Kaftanesque · 21/04/2025 16:47

What kind of person thinks it's more appropriate to film someone falling down and hurting themselves rather than offering help and sympathy? And the to post it on social medial Horrible woman.

SummerDaysOnTheWay · 21/04/2025 16:49

I would tell her you have a copy of the video and if she doesn’t take it down you will report her to the police. What an absolute arsehole!

blueshoes · 21/04/2025 16:51

TourangaLeila · 21/04/2025 14:42

Precisely, weird. And to me indicates stupid and potentially low IQ

Agree. The mark of someone with a puerile sense of humour frozen in toddlerhood aka stupid and childish.

XenoBitch · 21/04/2025 15:38

Morons have instincts too. Does not mean they are not morons.

If this was a few months ago you won’t be a viral sensation anymore so just leave it

It was yesterday

I know loads of smart people who laugh at silly things. I think maybe you need to judge less and stop thinking yourself superior.

I will most certainly feel comfortable to judge an idiot.

@LizzieVereker my TikTok feed is full of recipes, mobility and weight exercises, helpful home d.I.y videos (that have saved me money) and cats. It’s not all moronic content. Weird that you judge people for having it when you don’t understand it.

Marieb19 · 21/04/2025 16:57

Ask her for the link to the video. Tell her your solicitor will find it useful when you make a claim for damages for physical injuries caused by her dog and subsequent mental anguish caused by her publishing the assault and your injuries.

Fly1ngG1raffe · 21/04/2025 16:59

I’d be tempted to report out of control dog to the police, you can use the TikTok video as evidence. Then block.
