Of course women will be safer

Following the Supreme Court ruling. I’m flummoxed by the amount of women I considered intelligent friends, posting rubbish about how women are actually no safer and this ruling is just anti-trans. I just don’t understand how intelligent women are coming to this conclusion.

The main argument seems to be that men will be men and will still rape and assault.

Of course they will.

But now, they can no longer just assert ‘I am a woman’ and automatically be able to enter women’s spaces unchallenged to do this. And this did happen, a few examples below.

They will no longer be able to enter women’s changing rooms and film teenage girls naked. They will no longer be able to enter the women’s toilets in Morrisons unchallenged and sexually assault a 10yr old girl. They will no longer be able to be housed in women’s prisons raping vulnerable women in the shower. This will all stop.

Yes, I do understand the negative impact on a few trans women and I feel for them, but why should ALL women put themselves and their daughters at risk for this tiny minority? I just don’t get it. If you’re campaigning for anything, campaign for 3rd spaces surely? But don’t campaign to allow any man the right to enter women’s spaces.

I have no issue with trans people in any way (I know a few) but I just can’t understand this argument that all women should be more at risk. Of course most trans women aren’t a threat. But men pretending to be women for access to women ARE a threat. And this ruling makes it harder for them to rape and assault us.

The amount of friends I’m seeing posting this rubbish has thrown me. I feel like I’m in an a weird alternate reality.

Of course women will be safer

Why?

Why? Do you think tranwomen look like men in disguise? How are you going to stop them coming in to female spaces without some sort of proof?

Pyjamatimenow · 20/04/2025 18:18

I’m a very tall woman. Tbh I would be hurt if anyone challenged me on entering toilets etc but frankly I’ll take it over the current situation for the sake of the safety of my daughters going forward.
I do feel somewhat that we are living in the upside down and reading social media at the moment is crazy! It’s not unlike that weird uneasy feeling I had when Covid first hit and we went into lockdown, except that was rooted in actual facts and scientific evidence. I’ve got an old childhood friend on instagram who is quite a well regarded scientist, incredibly smart and academic, spouting absolute gibberish!

ThatsNotMyTeen · 20/04/2025 18:18

Oh I know. They are clearly just totally captured by the nonsense. I’ve heard some women saying are they going to have to prove their sex now to use a toilet. Well, no, if they never had to before, why they are thinking they might have to now is beyond me.

Also that “c1s” men could now pretend to be trans men to access women’s changing rooms

despite the fact they’ve been telling us for years no man would pretend to be a woman to access a female only Space

baddrivers · 20/04/2025 16:47

However men can just say ‘I’m a trans man’ and enter female spaces, this just makes it easier for the actually dangerous men now.

😂😂😂 you think? Bless. You must be a man. Women know when they see a man. It’s always obvious. for some reason men don’t get that. But there we are.

BellissimoGecko · 20/04/2025 18:18

Women are now going to be put on situations where they have to prove they are biologically female to claim the protections that we are entitled to. For example, several police force have now said that male police officers will strip search trans women (and by extension, any woman they think is trans who doesn't happen to be carrying her birth certificate to prove that she was female at birth).

Bollocks. Evidence?

Yes I do think that, because most of the time that's true.

Helleofabore · 20/04/2025 18:08

Did you have to before women were told that they could not react if a male person with a transgender identity entered the space?

I think your post may be hyperbolic.

How will you actually know if a transwoman enters a womans space? What will you actually yourself do to make sure this doesn't happen and what official checks do you expect to happen?

Agree. I honestly think women have a really good intuition on this. It’s probably some sort of inbuilt survival extinct. Even with those beautiful thai ladyboys you see on the tv I always think they have a quality

What they look like a man so your just going to report it? With all the plastic surgery etc we have these days. I'm not sure how many trans people you have met, but some of it is really good and no I wouldn't expect them to look like a man or walk in with there penis hanging out.

Are you seriously implying that nobody can tell biological women from trans identifying males?
Come off it 🤦‍♀️

batsandeggs · 20/04/2025 18:26

Lots of very emotive language and claims being made, and as usual not an iota of evidence to back it up. Where’s the evidence that trans friendly policy puts women at increased risk?

That doesn’t make any sense. It’s not that they didn’t ‘agree with’ me or ‘think like’ me, it’s that what they stated, was incorrect.

‘men can just say ‘I’m a trans man’ and enter female spaces, this just makes it easier for the actually dangerous men now.’

Lots of transwomen - TIM is better isn’t it - seem to think they blend seamlessly with women. Whereas in reality they stick out like a sore thumb. Sorry guys.

(not sorry)

I think the argument has been "sometimes you can't tell" - not "you can always tell" or "you can never tell". But women who say that aren't really women apparently.

Helleofabore · 20/04/2025 18:29

How will you actually know if a transwoman enters a womans space? What will you actually yourself do to make sure this doesn't happen and what official checks do you expect to happen?

You seem to believe that most female people, of all ages, are unable to correctly sex a person in real life and with some kind of interaction, including speaking to them.

I guess if you have never thought about it, perhaps you don't understand that it is hardly likely that over time a male person entering the female toilets will remain unnoticed.

What will I actually do? I reckon I will let others know from the outside that I think there is a male person in there and will let them make their own decisions. Having been abused by several male people with transgender identities now on different occasions (not in a space on my own even), I am not about to approach them. I will also call whatever security I can get a hold off, and ask them to do a check.

Do you believe that female people should be able to have single sex spaces that excludes male people, or not?

Eyesopenwideawake · 20/04/2025 18:29

Helleofabore · 20/04/2025 18:14

Did we need them before women and girls were told that they needed to welcome male people with transgender identities into the female single sex spaces?

Or did you just pick up on some extreme transgender activist discussion points and think this was a convincing point for you?

No, I was simply asking about the practicalities of enforcing such a ban.

I presume transexual/transvestite people used the toilets corresponding to their public appearance since they were introduced in the late 1800s.

"You must be a man. Women know when they see a man. It’s always obvious. for some reason men don’t get that."

This says that if you can't tell someone is a bio male by looking at them, you must be a man, because all women can tell, always.

amylou8 · 20/04/2025 18:30

Yes this is absolutely the crux of the argument. It's not anti trans it's pro women.
We have no way of knowing who the bad men are, so the only way is keep all men out, that includes those who are trans identified.
It's unfortunate that some trans identified males will be impacted by this, however the safety of women and girls cannot be compromised for the feelings of this minority.
If trans identified males and trans activists want to blame anyone, blame the males who make this necessary, not the women wanting single sex safe spaces.

I mean honestly. What do you think the characteristics and obvious signs of a transwoman are 😳
I'm actually quite supportive of the ruling earlier in the week, but people thinking they can just look at someone and report them for not being the right gender is just madness.

FridayFeelingmidweek · 20/04/2025 18:34

I still can't believe the headline was still focusing on women...again! Where's the whole 'what makes a man' arguments? I find it fascinating (and telling) that more biological men are trans than the other way round.

Why is this all on biological women? I can't fathom why biological men aren't bring expected to make their spaces more available, safe and welcoming to trans women.

forgotmyusername1 · 20/04/2025 18:34

Realistically if people pass either way they will continue to use the bathroom they want

What they won't be able to do is get their willy out in the changing room, self id is dead. Women will be able to raise the alarm of men in women's spaces without being worried about being arrested themselves or being gas lit into silence.

My husband accidentally went into the women's loos once. Fortunately it was empty but if it hadn't been he could have just said 'I identify as a woman' and been entitled to stay. That is how daft self id was.

The tra's have themselves to blame for this. By pushing for self Id and no discourse they created a death knell for support for their cause.

I grew up being called a boy/man until I finally grew my hair long.

You are making some startling assumptions about me based on nothing.

Yes, women and girls will continued to be asked because that was how we ascertained whether we should leave, raise the alarm or whatever we felt we needed to do. And yes, for some women and girls it will be uncomfortable, but there is currently no mechanism to do otherwise.

Do you or do you not believe that female people should have female only single sex spaces?
