As per the title - Easter Sunday is off to a dreadful start with ā€˜D’ H and I already having had an argument.

Some background, we have individual insta’s but for any major ā€˜announcements/events’ as such we will use the collaboration feature so the post appears on both our grids. Think engagement, wedding, pregnancy-gender reveal/birth, anniversary etc.

It’s our DD’s first Easter so I’ve got her a brilliant outfit, some props and of course eggs. I’ve also got a personalised sort of sign which says it’s her first Easter.

I said to H I’ll get the photos done after breakfast and we can joint post. He says it’s stupid to do this and doesn’t warrant all the effort as it’s ’only Easter’ so he won’t be putting it on his grid.

AIBU to feel pissed off with him? It will look strange if it’s only on my page.

You sound like my SIL. Missing actual moments as she is too busy taking a million photos and throwing wobblies over things not being insta perfect.

Easter props for your child? Grow up.

Yup! Not to mention - as a pp mentioned - the ramifications of posting your children on social media. I’m nearly full-term pregnant and the only people I’ve told are people who actually care, you know, in person. Never mind all of this ā€œspecial announcement/newsā€ malarkey.

edwinbear · 20/04/2025 08:18

What’s an Easter ā€˜prop’?

Where I come from, a prop was something to hold up a full washing line, so perhaps it's one covered in fluffy chicks and furry rabbits?

legsekeven · 20/04/2025 08:30

A natural photo of your baby playing with some Easter eggs will be lovely. You don’t need props and outfits and filters.

Youcalyptus · 20/04/2025 08:30

PowderPants · 20/04/2025 08:25

Either this is:
a. A joke
b. You are totally hallow
c. You need something to worry about

It's not bad to be totally hallow at Easter....sorry sorry couldn't resist

Lankylilly · 20/04/2025 08:30

What @MixedBananas said. Stop objectifying your daughter and spend time with her doing something appropriate for an under one-year-old (which is most definitely not dressing her up & posting her image online to fulfil your own need for attention). If projecting a fake image of your perfect family for all the world to see is honestly your priority, I think you should seek help for your self-esteem issues. Instagram is not the answer.

Redglitter · 20/04/2025 08:31

It will look strange if it’s only on my page

No it won't. Actually posting together is what's strange.

Do what normal people do post it yourself and if you must involve him - tag him

I despair of people and the importance they put on nonsense like this. Congratulations instead of enjoying your first family Easter you've started an argument. Why not just enjoy the moment instead of it not counting if its not posted on SM

milleniumstar · 20/04/2025 08:31

Surely this is a piss take

edwinbear · 20/04/2025 08:31

Clearly I’ve ruined my family’s Easter. Everyone is still in bed, there are no Easter outfits, no props, no signs. There are plenty of Easter eggs, sharing packs of mini eggs and we have roast lamb later. Nobody is taking staged photos or posting inane crap on social media. We’ve had no arguments though, so that’s a bonus 🤣

Emoleno · 20/04/2025 08:31

"Major announcements/events" šŸ˜†

What’s an Easter ā€˜prop’?

I've no clue but I am increasingly concerned that some people only have children so they can use them as 'props' for social media photos.

AquaPeer · 20/04/2025 08:31

You are šŸ’Æ trying to wind up the gen x’ers who are particularly hysterical about the commercialisation of Xmas this year. It’s a pretty solid attempt to be fair šŸ˜‚

Tbrh · 20/04/2025 08:31

Argh I'm the 1% and I clicked the wrong thing! šŸ˜† YABU!!

Canterranter · 20/04/2025 08:31

Nobody's interested Op. Your DH has got the right idea.

I know this isn’t the point of the post but I’m Gen X and in my mid fifties. Joint posting is not something us Gen Xers are even aware is a thing. And if we were we definitely wouldn’t do it. We’re the original latch key kids. Blame a different generation! 😁

I’m also generation X at nearly 47, we didn’t have insta when my kids were small, Facebook was a new thing, not even sure we had what’s app. This definetly isn’t our generation šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

RampantIvy · 20/04/2025 08:32

It's the school holidays.

I doubt the OP will be back.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 20/04/2025 08:33

Probably time to take an instagram break hun!

PalmTreeAngel · 20/04/2025 08:33

Sounds more like Gen Z behaviour I think.
if it’s that important to you, OP - I say post from your account. Or are you more unhappy at the fact he’s not joining in?

Seagreensmokeyblue · 20/04/2025 08:34

Being bought up a Christian I was taught Easter was the most important festival of the Christian calendar.
As a long time atheist I don't bother with it at all now apart from the Easter egg part. I find it extremely puzzling as to why anyone who isn't religious would put so much emphasis on it to make their child's first Easter a big thing.
And that's without the totally bizarre behaviour of playing their life out on social media.
Not a life style I understand at all.

handsdownthebest · 20/04/2025 08:34

I think you’re being ridiculous but I guess this is what happens when Gen X become parents.

What? Bit of a generalisation don’t you think!

I think we have the same SIL.

She actually made her DH 're-do' his proposal as she was so miffed he didn't get anyone to film it for Insta.

It must be a truly exhausting way to live your life.

aCatCalledFawkes · 20/04/2025 08:35

This is bonkers šŸ˜‚. Arguing over insta accounts before 8.30 on an Easter morning šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚
Normal people are just tucking in to Easter eggs.
