Another mosley cashing in

Sickofitandmore · 20/04/2025 07:48

Partnered with the Daily mail as usual. Michael Mosleys son is taking over the task of cashing in on people's weight struggles. So now instead of being plagued with his late df's money extracting diet plans, we are going to be subjected to Jack Mosley's take on weight loss drugs. Such blatant jumping on the band wagon to squeeze some money out. People are losing lots of weight with the weight loss jabs and no longer need to pay people to give them another faddy diet plan. WW has felt it, SW will hopefully be next and when will the Mosleys just bugger off?!

It's not like WLI are free, is it? 🙄

No they're not for most people but they actually help scientifically, where all the faddy diets and mumbo jumbo do not.
I'm just sick of the Mosleys and here comes another one to cash in.

I think what he’s doing is very sensible. It’s the maintenance people will need help with.

JMSA · 20/04/2025 07:57

Agreed (@OP)

BangersAndGnash · 20/04/2025 07:57

I am sick of weight loss injection hype.

Just ignore what doesn’t suit you or what you are not interested in.

No need to be nasty.

And this is nasty.

Losing weight the healthy way…let’s hope that doesn’t go out of fashion! (I say that as an overweight person doing it this way)

MyUmberSeal · 20/04/2025 07:58

Heaven forbid people want to lose weight without jacking up weekly.

Exactly! But that won't go down well here!
All hail and bow at the altar of injections!.

RaininSummer · 20/04/2025 08:01

I don't know what the son is doing but Michael Mosley's work was great and there was no need to spend money to benefit from most of his pretty excellent advice.

Sickofitandmore · 20/04/2025 08:02

I get that my opinion may be unpopular with many Mosley fans. I was once one of you. But with each slightly adapted book (usually around Dec/January) and following the trends while going back completely on things that were previously stated in older books, plus partnering with the Daily Mail, I lost the respect. I realised it was all about the cash. I actually hope that all of the fake, money grabbing, diet and fitness industry suffer now that people are empowered to be able to lose weight with the assistance of these drugs instead.

Michael Mosley had a really good understanding of effective weight loss, and quite easy to find out how without spending money. If you don't want to read his son's material, just don't read the Mail. It is probably paywalled anyway. There are side effects to those drugs and if I was on them I would be interested in a doctor explaining.

rosemarble · 20/04/2025 08:02

I shall preface this by saying I have never needed to lose weight so my comment is based on just what I read and hear.

I thought MM’s intermittent fasting plans are widely regarded as being a successful way to lose weight and keep it off i.e. not a fad.

The son is going along with the injections....to cash in.

Fgs - his parents built up a family business. His dad's diets were based on extensive research and have helped many people. He's a doctor himself. I'd rather the Mosley family monetised their work than some of the influencers out there.

AwakeNotThruChoice · 20/04/2025 08:04

There were/arw loads of ways to hear about MM healthy eating plans and ideas without spending money. BBC podcasts, stuff on tv, websites?
buy the cookery books from World of Books like I did for £5.

PearTreeBoat · 20/04/2025 08:04

Whilst there are, of course, plenty of people always looking to cash in with faddy diet plans etc. (not sure if Jack Mosley is one or not as haven't read any of his articles), eating a proper healthy balanced diet and doing exercise to increase movement is always going to be better than WLI.

Not every diet/weight loss plan is a fad diet neither. Some people need help with accountability and motivation; hence they sign up for weight loss subscription services. Again, there will always be shyster ones just out to scam people of their money, but there are also plenty of well researched and healthy plans that charge money.

Are you saying you would rather people spend their money on WLI and ignore the side effects/concerns about them rather than doing proper research to find a healthy and proven weight loss and exercise programme that will have all the long term benefit's are introducing a healthy relationship with food.

rosemarble · 20/04/2025 08:04

I didn’t know they had any partnership with The DM, I only know of MM’s work from Radio 4 and from an aunt and uncle who have done IF for years and years.

MaeDuptag · 20/04/2025 08:04

Yes much better to follow cooking tips from Brooklyn Beckham (or all the other talentless nepo babes) - who wants to hear from a doctor involved in promoting healthy weight and wellness! Complain to the GMC now!

RampantIvy · 20/04/2025 08:05

You sound very bitter.
Do you lack the willpower to lose weight healthily without the help of drugs that could potentially have dangerous side effects?

The advice didn’t particularly change so there was no need to buy the books, just put the advice into practice.

Some of us manage to get to goal weight and maintain a healthy weight using IF without spending any money on books or gadgets.

He would constantly adapt and bend it to whatever the trend was. For instance making the fast 800 keto plan which was not true to the original 5:2, fast 800 or the blood sugar diet.

You clearly have no understanding of weight loss drugs. You still need willpower. Despite what is said in the media about them being a magic wand.

I mean, there are other ways to lose weight which doesn’t involve WLI or Michael Mosley you know 🙄
