Builder poo

Long time lurker, first time poster. DH thinks it’s quite funny, and IABU, but I’m really irked by this and I want to know what others think.

We’re having a loft conversion done, and have just had the en-suite shower room installed. Plumbing functions. The carpenter was in today and had the house to himself as we were all out.

He went to the existing bathroom, fetched a toilet roll, took it up to our brand new unused en-suite toilet, and took a dump. Nothing wrong with toilet in existing bathroom, it’s perfectly nice.

what was that all about? Does he hate us? Is he just a thoughtless male? Did he want to christen our toilet for us and leave skid marks as a gift? AIBU to be pissed off and want to complain?

Shitmonger · 17/04/2025 22:09

Yeah if a builder had taken it upon himself to christen my brand new toilet with his shit I wouldn’t be thrilled about it either. It’s not professional to be shitting in your actual work site that you are supposed to be handing over to the homeowners as a testament to your workmanship. It also has the distinct air of a dog pissing on a post.

You’re definitely not unreasonable.

LittlerCharlotte · 17/04/2025 22:11

Don't clean his crap off your loo! Call him back and tell him to clean it himself.

I'd go round the twist if someone left my loo in a state.

DopeyS · 17/04/2025 22:13

HScully · 17/04/2025 21:46

Anyone leaving evidence of a poo is out of order. They are basically leaving Sh*t for someone else to clean. It does seem to be prevalent that Men do this more than women. My OH (f) works in male dominated industries. In more than ine work place they have ended up having to keep the female loos locked and issue out keys. As men were using them to take a dump and leaving them disgusting.

On the other hand some men would use them as the actual Mens toilets were so disgusting.

Parents do us all a favour and teach all your kids to clean up after them.

I work on various construction sites and can confirm the women's toilets are generally locked. One site had signs saying any man caught using the women's bathroom would be kicked off site.

I have to ask why posts about chains and cisterns were deleted ...

Iceboy80 · 17/04/2025 22:15

It's a toilet, you piss and shit in it. Is it more because he was the first to use it Grin

Coconutter24 · 17/04/2025 22:20

Idontjetwashthefucker · 17/04/2025 21:15

Where does it say that?

Did he want to christen our toilet for us and leave skid marks as a gift?

it says it in the OP

Neurotoxic · 17/04/2025 22:23

Well was there a toilet brush available?

UnctuousUnicorns · 17/04/2025 22:24

Noperope · 17/04/2025 21:31

I visited a house with one of those recently. Felt almost Victorian.

My first family home was turn of the (20th) century, so not far off, one of a red brick terrace with an entry at the back.

shamble · 17/04/2025 22:27

@Neurotoxic no, toilet has just been plumbed in. No toilet brush available as I wasn’t expecting anyone to use the toilet. The room has no door, apart from anything else. But I have to ask, do you use your toilet brush for that? Is it weird that I find that gross? I use toilet roll to clean skid marks off toilets. Toilet brush is to clean a visibly clean toilet. Otherwise surely the toilet brush gets utterly manky and pooey? How do you clean your toilet brush?
starting to wonder if my cleanliness issues are bordering on weird.

DH thought it was funny, why didn’t he clean it then?

I can recall a thread quite some time ago where posters nearly came to blows over the topic of "bog brush v no bog brush".

Maybe someone could find it/repost a similar one so we can have another free-for-all ?

GettingMySpringOn · 17/04/2025 21:12

You do know builders are humans and need to use the toilet, like wise for plumbers, carpenters, mechanics, electricians and whoever else.
As long as it's cleaned so what.
I would be annoyed if a mess left.

When we had renovations they offered to have a portaloo on the drive. There were 5 men.
I said no we have a toilet! Always made sure there was plenty of loo roll and toilet cleaner in there.

Read the OP!!

Idontjetwash we crossposted. I would’ve liked him to have gone in the bathroom he got the toilet roll out of. There’s something about going out of his way to shit in someone’s brand new unused toilet that I find…weird and contemptuous?

I would understand if he got the loo roll from the hall, or from a shelf. But to go into the bathroom, bypass the toilet, get a loo roll, and go to the ensuite... Seems. Odd.

Maybe he was self conscious? Some people have poo anxiety 😅

Darkclothes · 17/04/2025 22:36

You use toilet paper to clean skid marks! Do you use gloves? I use the toilet brush- as I thought that is what its actually for. Mine is a silicone paddle, not a brush. I have bleach in the container at the bottom where the paddle lives. I wouldn't be sticking my hand in my own, let alone someone else's toilet bowl to clean it with loo roll without gloves on. 😱

I also just throw the brush in the dishwasher every week or so- just kidding 😆

Edited

You use toilet paper to clean your arse, why not use it to clean your poo off the toilet bowl? Same shit, just different location!

misssunshine4040 · 17/04/2025 22:50

That’s disgusting I would be so angry.
Of course they are human but they are employed to do a service not shit in the brand new goods and not even have the decency to clean up properly.

Vile

Ivesaidenough · 17/04/2025 22:56

I wonder if this is a weird thing some workmen do? We had some carpet fitters, we went out while they moved all the furniture to fit the carpet.
When we came back, we paid, they left.
When we went into the toilet later they had pissed literally all over the room. No attempt to get it into the toilet at all. It was not just weird, it frightened me a bit tbh. It felt very aggressive.

What if the skid extended under the water line? Would you still plunge your hand into the water with no gloves on???

BlondeMummyto1 · 17/04/2025 22:58

Maybe he thought the family bathroom was off limits but the one being worked on was OK to use.

This is really weird behaviour. Did you complain?

I also do this OP, and only use the toilet brush to scrub the visibly clean toilet.

To the poster who said what if the skids are under the water- if that’s happening with regularity you need to eat more fibre.

You must have low standards if leaving skid marks is acceptable and normal.
