Builder poo

Long time lurker, first time poster. DH thinks it’s quite funny, and IABU, but I’m really irked by this and I want to know what others think.

We’re having a loft conversion done, and have just had the en-suite shower room installed. Plumbing functions. The carpenter was in today and had the house to himself as we were all out.

He went to the existing bathroom, fetched a toilet roll, took it up to our brand new unused en-suite toilet, and took a dump. Nothing wrong with toilet in existing bathroom, it’s perfectly nice.

what was that all about? Does he hate us? Is he just a thoughtless male? Did he want to christen our toilet for us and leave skid marks as a gift? AIBU to be pissed off and want to complain?

Plumfairies it says there are skid marks in the OP. I’ve just scrubbed them off.

Or to look at it another way, he didn’t spend time in your currently fully operational and personal
space bathroom. He used the one that was part of the worksite. With a quick nip to one in use by current residents to get paper.

Keep in mind how many people seem to feel the need to get a portaloo rather than let trades use their plumbing, a general tone of ‘don’t use the one they use’ is probably fairly well ingrained.

shamble · 17/04/2025 21:26

I’m clearly clicked on the wrong posts on MN. Didn’t know poo trolls/builder poo threads were a thing. A thousand sincere apologies all, and commiserations to those who’ve had horrible experiences or feel similar to me. To each their own I guess!

The Mumsnet tradesman pooing trope yet again.

shamble · 17/04/2025 21:27

ScaryM0nster that’s a good point, thanks. Hadn’t actually thought of it that way.

Old fashioned loos had a cistern that was up high on the wall, and you flushed by pulling a long chain.
‘Pull the chain’ was synonymous with ‘flush the loo’, but politer because you didn’t refer to the loo at all 🤣

We had a high level cistern in my parents' first house. You still see them in visitor toilets in some historic attractions.

Seeyouincourtkeithyoutwat · 17/04/2025 21:28

I would be raging too OP. The shit marks are a massive sign of disrespect.

shamble · 17/04/2025 21:29

Unctuous we have one in the existing bathroom the builder could’ve used, in fact. With a chain to pull and everything.

You can still buy them.

gardenfairywithattitude · 17/04/2025 21:23

The "chain" was what was used to flush those old khazis with the tank up near the ceiling.....

(Cross-posted with earlier explanation)

I visited a house with one of those recently. Felt almost Victorian.

nottheplan · 17/04/2025 21:32

Happened to us too, gross but I suppose if they gotta go they gotta go! However he should have used your existing one.

It probably was !

Screamingabdabz · 17/04/2025 21:39

I’d be fuming too op. I wouldn’t have cleaned his shit though. I’d have asked him why he needed to use the new toilet and told him to clean it. I don’t care if it was a ‘awkward conversation’. What a cunt. And please - mothers of sons - do us all a favour and make sure they grow up knowing it’s not a woman’s job to clean up their bodily functions. (My DH did with my DS).

HScully · 17/04/2025 21:46

Anyone leaving evidence of a poo is out of order. They are basically leaving Sh*t for someone else to clean. It does seem to be prevalent that Men do this more than women. My OH (f) works in male dominated industries. In more than ine work place they have ended up having to keep the female loos locked and issue out keys. As men were using them to take a dump and leaving them disgusting.

On the other hand some men would use them as the actual Mens toilets were so disgusting.

Parents do us all a favour and teach all your kids to clean up after them.

Idontjetwashthefucker · 17/04/2025 21:21

Yes, i acknowledged that in my next post.

Where would you like him to have gone?

Why aren’t you reading the OPs posts properly? This is the second time you’ve posted something which could have been answered by reading properly.

She’s clearly said she wanted him to use the existing toilet rather than fetching a loo roll from the existing toilet, not use that toilet that was right in front of him, but instead take the loo roll up the loft to shit in her brand new toilet and leave skid marks. What a fucking bastard he is. I’d make him clean it up himself and thoroughly embarrass him but challenging him on this. He clearly doesn’t like you.

shamble · 17/04/2025 21:53

Appreciate the posters who get where I’m
coming from, thank you! And thanks for reading my OP thoroughly @GoodOldTrayBake🙌

Oh my God. You'll need to take that toilet out, bash it to pieces with a jackhammer and throw the tiny pieces into the sea and then install a new one. You also need to complain to the builder's boss, get him fired and complain about him on Nextdoor. Nothing short of this will purge the offence done to your house.

Disagree ….the destroyed ceramic waste will need to be reprocessed, and placed in deep underground repositories. For eternity 💩

scalt · 17/04/2025 22:01

Dammit, I’ve run out of popcorn.

MyZippyLemonBiscuit · 17/04/2025 22:01

Are you annoyed that you didn’t get to christen your own toilet?

NeilDiamondsBlowDry · 17/04/2025 22:02

yes OP he’s a disgraceful shitter I’d be livid

Darkclothes · 17/04/2025 22:02

Annascaul · 17/04/2025 21:24

You say no problem, then go on to explain the problem…

As I had written, workmen using the toilet hadn't been a problem at all- until this 1 poonami incident.

neilyoungismyhero · 17/04/2025 22:03

PlumFairies · 17/04/2025 21:22

How do you know he had a poo? What evidence was there?

The OP had already said, as have several other posters he left skid marks.

lactofree · 17/04/2025 22:06

OP is annoyed because they wanted to
be the first person to use the new bog
