To think it’s hard to go to McDonalds after Five Guys?

I think it’s hard to get excited about McDonald’s burgers if you’ve had more elaborate ones like Five Guys ?

If they were the same price I’d agree but one is about x 8 the price of the other so if you’ve got a family of 4, I know where we’re going. £10 for a buger? Fuck that!

I'm not a burger fan at all and when me and DP ended up at 5 Guys needing a quick bite I was really grumpy especially when I saw the price. But oh lord, it was the best burger I have ever eaten.

I feel short-changed, we don't have a burger van in our B&Q car park. KFC is practically in the car park so that might be why.

Any one of the three tapas' platters from my favourite Spanish restaurant. Ironically, the area has changed and it is now is a gourmet burger restaurant.

I’ve never had 5 guys manage to get my order right. They have made things complex but without the system able to cope.

At McDonalds prices wrong orders are easier to accept…but then I don’t think I’ve ever received a wrong Big Mac.

I can never understand the love for 5 guys on MN, our nearest is disgusting. The grilled cheese is a mess and the burgers don't look that much better. Ours isn't very clean either and the price - wtaf.
McDs are franchises and vary, ours is decent, still fast food obviously, but a chicken McCrispy is nice and you are paying for the fast food that it is.

McDs use far better ingredients in their UK offerings than McDs in the US. I had read that Wendy's are using their additive ridden US versions.

Also why do people assume 5 guys have better ingredients than McDs?
5 guys just specify 100% beef, which could cover a multitude of sins, McDs state what cuts they use.

Five guys doesn’t do chicken burgers though. I’m not a red meat fan and was a bit screwed when I went to Five Guys once. I literally had no idea it was just beef

Obviously yes but you’re missing the point…Five Guys has been exceptional at marketing itself as better than Maccies or KFC. People fall for that and pay massively over the odds there.

Yep, I got stuck with a grilled cheese sandwich - an expensive squashed burger bun stuck together with gloopy cheese, glued to the wrapping, it was awful. Normally I'd have a mcd's McCrispy - nice crispy coated chicken breast with fresh salad, the right amount of dressing and a fresh bun.

I don't rate Five Guys (bland) nor McD's (ditto).

I like Honest or MEATLiquor (London). Pricy but a nice treat.

Five Guys gets an extra point for selling alcohol.
